in order to be pedagogically effective, an algorithm visualisation is expected to satisfy a large number ofrequirements. One of the most essential and useful requirements is its ability to provide support for reversing performed user actions. In this work we will introduce a generic concept for an efficient undo/redo framework for three-dimensional visual simulations of algorithms and data structures. The framework uses the memento design pattern to implement a linear multiple-undo/multiple-action modei with an unlimited undo of performed actions. It is straightforward to utilise and supports the automated generation of three-dimensional visual simulations of algorithms and data structures.
This paper presents a novel fusion method for final decision making in multiple classifier system. The novel approach proposed fuses multiple individual classifiers through normalizing and re-subdividing classificatio...

In this paper we describe a medical application where we exploit surface properties (measured in form of 3D-Range scans of the human back) to derive a-priori unknown additional properties of the proband, that otherwise can only be acquired using multiple x-ray recordings or volumetric scans as CT or MRI. On the basis of 274 data sets, we perform classification using statistical shape analysis methods. Consistent parameterization and alignment is achieved on the basis of only few anatomic landmarks. As our choice of landmarks is easy to detect on the human body, our approach is feasible for screening applications that can be expected to have much impact on the early detection and later treatment of spine deformities, in particular scoliosis. This volume contains research papers that were presented at the Sixth Eurographics Workshop on Animation and Simulation which took place at Maastricht, The Nether lands, September 2-3, 1995. A core area within computergraphics, animation is concerned with the computer synthesis of dynamic scenes. The creation of realistic animation based on the simulation of physical and biological phenomena is a unify ing and rapidly evolving research theme. This series of workshops, an activity of the Eurographics Working Group on Animation and Simulation, is an international forum where researchers representing the animation and simulation communities convene to exchange knowledge and experience related to this theme and to physics-based mod elling, human modelling, motion control, visualization, etc. Of keen interest at this sixth workshop were novel animation techniques and animation systems that simulate the dynamics and interactions of physical objects-solid, fluid, and gaseous-as well as the behaviors of living systems such as plants, lower animals, and humans. The workshop continued to promote the confluence of animation and simulation as a leading edge of computergraphics research that is providing animators with sophisticated new algorithms for synthesizing dynamic scenes. The call for extended abstracts for the workshop, issued in February 1995, elicited an enthusiastic response.

In this work, we present a heuristic search technique (Contract Search) which can be automatically adapted for a specified node expansion limitation. We analyze the node expansion properties of best first search and propose a probabilistic model (rank profile) to characterize heuristic search under restricted expansions. We identify the basic properties of the rank profile and establish its relation with the search space configuration. In Contract Search, we use the rank profile model to formulate an optimal strategy to choose level dependent restriction bounds maximizing the probability of obtaining the goal node under the specified contract. Experimental comparison with anytime search techniques like ARA* and beam search shows that Contract Search outperforms these techniques over a range of constraint specifications.
