Collective Perception (CP) is the key technology for integrating non-connected road users into the Cooperative-Intelligent Transportation System. Thereby, ITS-Stations share locally perceived object data with others via broadcast communication. Previous studies on CP focused on the trade-off between resource usage and Environmental Awareness Ratio, assuming that atomic objects are either known or unknown. However, Perceived Objects consist of multiple attributes describing their state, such as position, speed, and dimensions. Stations perceive the traffic situation and objects from different perspectives, influencing which attributes can be observed. This study shows the performance of CP in three different traffic scenarios and analyzes the completeness of objects and availability of object attributes. It shows that completeness and availability depend on the traffic situation and are influenced by average speed, traffic, building density, and road layouts. Furthermore, results indicate that important object attributes, such as dimensions, are often missing, and the object's center point is often unknown. © 2024 IEEE.

With Collective Perception, stations exchange information from their local perception with each other via broadcast communication. The information about perceived objects can enhance their awareness, allowing perception beyond their line of sight and increasing traffic safety. Therefore, received object information must be processed by an Object Fusion system that creates a holistic environment model. Solving this fusion problem is not trivial and computationally expensive. However, the computing power required for a single station that implements an Object Fusion system depends on the amount of object data that must be processed. The amount of data will rise with a progressing market introduction as more stations share their perception. For analyzing the scalability of fusion, the Artery V2X Simulation framework was extended with an Object Fusion architecture. The results show how much object data must be processed and stored for three realistic large-scale traffic scenarios at different Market Penetration Rates. © 2024 IEEE.

Green Light Optimized Speed Advisory (GLOSA) apps provide speed recommendations for drivers to pass traffic lights during their green phases. In this way, the comfort and efficiency of traveling can be significantly improved. Thus, GLOSA apps are a valuable contribution to smart mobility. Mobile GLOSA apps provide an attractive alternative to static info signs, but they need to anticipate upcoming traffic lights that the vehicle will pass. While this imposes no challenge for predominating research within simulation or test track environments, real-world deployments need to correctly match a few from thousands of traffic lights to a route. In this paper, we discuss in a novel approach that MAP topologies, an international ETSI standard for turn geometries of traffic lights, can be used to perform this matching. However, routing is usually performed on public map data, which is not aligned with the MAP topologies. We explore two computational methods, specifically map-matching as preprocessing for adjacency lookup and topologic feature matching, that account for discrepancies between the MAP topologies and the route. We show that the core problem can be addressed using these algorithms to enable large-area deployments of real-world mobile GLOSA apps. In a comparative evaluation, the topologic feature matching technique achieved an F1 score of 89.5%, while the map-matched adjacency lookup method only achieved an F1 score of 48.3%. We analyze this performance gap and conclude further research directions. © 2022 IEEE.

For today's complex and expensive systems, such as an industrial router in an Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) network, it is important to ensure high operational reliability. The router is a complex system consisting of many subsystems, and an important task is to identify possible failures and faults of its subsystems in order to prevent them in time, or to parry and eliminate them. One of the methods of system reliability assessment is the method of cutting, which includes fault tree analysis (FTA). FTA allows, using the obtained and analysed statistical data, to build a fault tree with a given level of detail, and to determine the probabilities of failures of one or another subsystem. In this paper a detailed tree of failures and failures of hardware (HW), software (SW), and hardware-software (HW-SW) of the industrial router of the IIoT system is developed. The tree is built with the use of program code, using ensemble supervised ML algorithms in Python. The obtained graphical dependencies and obtained probabilities of failures of router's subsystems as a part of quantitative analysis, allowed us to determine for the given initial data the most exposed to the risk of failure of the subsystem of the industrial router in the system IIoT. © 2024 IEEE.

This paper investigates the performance trade-offs between accuracy and inference time in real-time object detection models, particularly for detecting landmines and unexploded ordnance (UXO). Using subsets from the COCO validation dataset, the models' performance is evaluated across various input resolutions. Object detection has seen substantial advancements over the past few decades, propelled by deep learning and enhanced computational resources. However, the balance between accuracy and inference time differs among models and configurations, requiring detailed evaluation to identify the optimal solution for specific applications like landmine and UXO detection. This balance is critical for autonomous robotic systems, where swift and accurate decision-making is imperative. ©2024 IEEE.

Vehicle-To-X communication is increasingly focusing on vulnerable road users. A large group of vulnerable road users are pedelecs. In Vehicle-To-X communication, message generation rules play an important role. These rules can strongly influence the number of messages and the safety. This paper provides an overview of the current Vulnerable Road User Awareness Message generation rules and their impact based on a real pedelec data set. It also evaluates the importance of the rules and the frequency of message generation. All analyses are performed on data sets with different sample rates in order to get an overview of the impact of the sample rate. The results of this paper show that different sample rates lead to significant differences in the impact of the generation rules and also on the message generation frequency. Also a suggestion of a minimum sample rate for recording the sensor data of pedelecs is done. The importance of the different generation rules is measured with the help of an information loss metric. The loss of information caused by ignoring a rule varies significantly among the different rules. This loss also depends on the sample rate. Overall, this paper shows the current state of the generation rules, the different importance of each rule and a suggestion for a minimal sample rate. © 2024 IEEE.

Processing data closer to the source to minimize latency and the amount of data to be transmitted is a major driver for research on the Internet of Things (IoT). Since data processing in many IoT scenarios heavily depends on machine learning (ML), designing ML models for resource constraint devices at the edge of IoT infrastructures is one of the big challenges. Which ML model performs best highly depends on the problem domain but also on the availability of resources. Thus, to find an appropriate ML model in the broad search space of options, the trade-off between accuracy and resource consumption in terms of memory, CPU, and energy needs to be considered. However, there are ML problems where most current research focuses on accuracy, and the resource consumption of applicable models is not well investigated yet. We show that transport mode detection (TMD) is such a problem and present a case study for designing an ML model running on smartphones. To transform the search for the needle in the haystack into a structured design process, we propose an engineering workflow to systematically evolve ML model candidates, considering portability and resource consumption in addition to model accuracy. At the example of the Sussex-Huawei-Locomotion (SHL) dataset, we apply this process to multiple ML architectures and find a suitable model that convinces with high accuracy and low measured resource consumption for smartphone deployment. We discuss lessons learned, enabling engineers and researchers to use our workflow as a blueprint to identify solutions for their ML problems systematically. © 2022 IEEE.

Weighted vertex cover(WVC)is one of the most important combinatorial optimization *** this paper,we provide a new game optimization to achieve efficiency and time of solutions for the WVC problem of weighted *** first model the WVC problem as a general game on weighted *** the framework of a game,we newly define several cover states to describe the WVC ***,we reveal the relationship among these cover states of the weighted network and the strict Nash equilibriums(SNEs)of the ***,we propose a game-based asynchronous algorithm(GAA),which can theoretically guarantee that all cover states of vertices converging in an SNE with polynomial ***,we improve the GAA by adding 2-hop and 3-hop adjustment mechanisms,termed the improved game-based asynchronous algorithm(IGAA),in which we prove that it can obtain a better solution to the WVC problem than using a the ***,numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed IGAA can obtain a better approximate solution in promising computation time compared with the existing representative algorithms.
