Photovoltaic panel used in solar power generation is an environmentally beneficial and sustainable energy source that has been used to transform sunlight into electrical power. Arranged in large solar facilities, these panels are connected to a central inverter, which converts Direct Current (DC) to alternating current (AC) electricity with a small amount of energy loss. Clean surfaces, unhindered light exposure, and high solar irradiance are all necessary for optimal panel performance. It's critical to assess the inverter's efficiency by comparing its AC to DC power. Large-scale installations with sensor-equipped panels and inverters track performance to help with maintenance and forecasting of power generation. The Internet of Things (IoT) facilitates data accessibility and remote monitoring, which helps choose the best location for solar power generation. Smart system continuous monitoring expedites site inspections, which supports urban smart grid integration. In this research study, a hybrid machine learning model is presented by combining the attention processes, long short-term memory (LSTM) networks, and clustering approaches. This model is separated into different phases for forecasting, training, and cloud data clustering, finds pertinent historical data, builds a hybrid machine learning model, and chooses the best training model. In comparison to conventional approaches, this method significantly improves prediction accuracy, which is important for integrating photovoltaic systems into smart grids, particularly in smart cities. © 2024 IEEE.

Robust and Verifiable Privacy Federated Learning

Federated learning (FL) safeguards user privacy by uploading gradients instead of raw data. However, inference attacks can reconstruct raw data using gradients uploaded by users in FL. To mitigate this issue, researchers have combined privacy computing techniques with FL. However, these techniques may not ensure the Byzantine robustness of aggregation or the integrity of the aggregated outcomes. Most current robust privacy FL methods assess differences between gradients and benchmarks in the direction, allowing adversaries to poison the aggregation against the magnitude. Furthermore, these methods cannot ensure the integrity of the aggregation results. To overcome these challenges, this study proposes a novel algorithm, robust and verifiable privacy federated learning (RVPFL), which can more effectively eliminate the poisoning attack of the opponent by measuring the direction and magnitude of the gradient in the ciphertext state. The proposed algorithm guarantees the integrity of server aggregation results while safeguarding user privacy. In this study, comprehensive theoretical analysis and experimental validation of RVPFL are conducted to demonstrate its superiority. The proposed RVPFL algorithm solves the Byzantine robustness problem of aggregation and the integrity problem of aggregation results, which helps to research and develop more robust and effective privacy-preserving federal learning techniques. © 2020 IEEE.

QuMIN: quantum multi-modal data fusion for humor detection

Humour detection has attracted considerable attention due to its significance in interpreting dialogues across text, visual, and acoustic modalities. However, effective methods to map correlations among different modalities remain an active area of research. In this study, we go beyond traditional machine learning techniques by introducing a Variational Quantum Circuit (VQC) that capitalizes on the inherent quantum properties of superposition, entanglement, and interference. Our proposed model, Quantum Multi-Modal data Fusion (QuMIN), is designed to better capture and reproduce the interaction across modalities, as well as the internal correlations within each modality. Our introduction of the novel VQC, which augments the DialogueRNN baseline with only an additional 4,809 parameters, signifies a substantial advancement in multi-modal humor detection with improvements of 12.34% in precision, 8.84% in recall and 10.57% in F1 score compared to the state-of-the-art methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Background: The automated classification of videos through artificial neural networks is addressed in this work. To explore the concepts and measure the results, the data set UCF101 is used, consisting of video clips taken from YouTube to recognize actions. The study is carried out with the authors' resources to determine the feasibility of independent research in the area. Methods: This work was developed in the Python programming language using the Keras library with Tensorflow as the back-end. The objective is to develop a network that presents performance compatible with the state of the art in terms of classifying videos according to the actions taken. Results: Given the hardware limitations, there is considerable distance between the implementation possibilities in this work and what is known as the state-of-the-art. Conclusion: Throughout the work, some aspects in which this limitation influenced the development are presented, but it is shown that this realization is feasible and that obtaining expressive results is possible 98.6% accuracy is obtained in the UCF101 data set, compared to the 98 percentage points of the best result ever reported, using, however, considerably fewer resources. In addition, the importance of transfer learning in achieving expressive results as well as the different performances of each architecture are reviewed. Thus, this work may open doors to carry patent-based outcomes. © 2025 Bentham science Publishers.

Hybrid speech enhancement in modulation domain

This paper presents a comprehensive study on speech enhancement (SE) techniques, particularly focusing on the utilization of the discrete cosine transform (DCT) in the modulation domain (MD) in combination with the minimum mean square error (MMSE) and Kalman filter (KF) algorithms. The research investigates the efficacy of these techniques in improving speech quality and intelligibility under various noisy conditions, such as babble, drilling, horn, train, and traffic noises, across different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) levels. Additionally, the study evaluates the performance of recurrent neural network (RNN) algorithms alongside traditional SE approaches. The study highlights the advantages of employing DCT in the modulation domain over the traditional discrete Fourier transform (DFT) in SE applications. Experimental results demonstrate significant improvements in objective quality metrics, including Perceptual Evaluation of Speech Quality (PESQ), composite measures, and short-time objective intelligibility (STOI), when implementing SE algorithms using discrete cosine transform in modulation domain. The proposed hybrid speech enhancement techniques, leveraging minimum mean square error and Kalman filter in combination with discrete cosine transform in modulation domain, outperform individual speech enhancement algorithms, showcasing superior noise reduction capabilities. This paper contributes to the advancement of speech enhancement methodologies, particularly in real-world noisy environments, and underscores the effectiveness of discrete cosine transform-based approaches in enhancing speech quality and intelligibility. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2024.

Remaining useful life (RUL) prediction plays an essential role in the prognostic health management of cutting tools, which aims to ensure workpiece surface quality and extend tool life. Although deep learning methods have exhibited great performance in the field of tool RUL prediction, establishing an effective deep learning model usually requires extensive training data, and collecting substantial tool failure data in the actual milling process is time-consuming and expensive. Alternatively, constructing robust tool degradation features and developing a lightweight prediction model might be more practical and deployment-friendly. Therefore, this paper introduces an optimal tool degradation feature extraction method with a tailored dimension reduction algorithm named dynamic-inner canonical correlation analysis (DiCCA), where the temporal dependency and dynamic information hidden in the sequential tool degradation process are captured for the RUL prediction of cutting tools. Experimental studies are performed with a milling dataset, and the results indicate that the optimal tool degradation feature extracted by the proposed DiCCA can explicitly reflect the degradation process of cutting tools, and accurate RUL prediction can be achieved through a lightweight BP model. © 2024 IEEE.

Authorised health claims and their scientific opinions offer valuable insights into health effects of foods and food ingredients. However, these texts are highly technical and not easily usable to those interested in the development and use of healthy food products and diets. In this paper, we present our effort to develop a knowledge graph that was curated from the information of 260 authorised health claims. The knowledge graph, based on data from scientific opinions, is subdivided into four ontological dimensions: the food (ingredient);the health effect;the target group;and the scientific evidence underlying the cause-and-effect relationship. Various differences were found between authorised claims and their underlying scientific opinions. These findings underline the need for further structuring the approach to substantiating and assessing health claims. Most importantly however, the development of this knowledge graph allows consumers, food producers and health care professionals to make personalised decisions in selecting healthy nutrition. © 2024 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

A Hybrid Relational Approach Toward Stock Price Prediction and Profitability

An accurate estimation of future stock prices can help investors maximize their profits. The current advancements in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) have proven prevalent in the financial sector. Besides, stock market prediction is difficult owing to the considerable volatility and unpredictability induced by numerous factors. Recent approaches have considered fundamental, technical, or macroeconomic variables to find hidden complex patterns in financial data. At the macro level, there exists a spillover effect between stock pairs that can explain the variance present in the data and boost the prediction performance. To address this interconnectedness defined by intrasector stocks, we propose a hybrid relational approach to predict the future price of stocks in the American, Indian, and Korean economies. We collected market data of large-, mid-, and small-capitalization peer companies in the same industry as the target firm, considering them as relational features. To ensure efficient feature selection, we have utilized a data-driven approach, i.e., random forest feature permutation (RF2P), to remove noise and instability. A hybrid prediction module consisting of temporal convolution and linear model (TCLM) is proposed that considers irregularities and linear trend components of the financial data. We found that RF2P-TCLM gave the superior performance. To demonstrate the real-world applicability of our approach in terms of profitability, we created a trading method based on the predicted results. This technique generates a higher profit than the existing approaches. © 2024 IEEE.

A comparative analysis for deep-learning-based approaches for image forgery detection

The detection of counterfeit photographs is critical in the digital age because of the widespread development of digital media and its significant impact on social networks. The legitimacy of digital content is being threatened by the growing sophistication of picture counterfeiting. With the help of pre-trained VGG-16 models and deep learning techniques that integrate Error Level Analysis (ELA) and Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), this study presents a fresh solution to this problem. The study thoroughly assesses and contrasts these models with a dataset that has been carefully chosen to bring the presented findings into perspective. To ensure a reliable evaluation of each model's performance 5000 experiments were carried out in total. With an accuracy rate of 99.87% and an accurate identification rate of 99% of hidden forgeries, the results demonstrate the exceptional effectiveness of the ELA-CNN model. However, despite its robustness, the VGG-16 model only achieves a significantly lower accuracy rate of 97.93% and a validation rate of 75.87%. This study clarifies the relevance of deep learning in the identification of image forgeries and highlights the practical ramifications of various models. Moreover, the research recognizes its constraints, especially for highly advanced counterfeits, and proposes possible paths for enhancing the accuracy and scope of detection algorithms. In the ever-changing world of digital media, the thorough comparative analysis provided in this study offers insightful information that can direct the creation of accurate forgery detection tools, protecting digital content integrity and reducing the effects of image manipulation. © (2023), (Society of Sytematic Innovation). In this article, we propose a hand gesture-operated system as an AI application to relieve discomfort and restore function in hand and arm movements caused by injuries and nerve and muscle complications. The system trains patients with hand exercises, such as performing hand gestures accurately, traversing within specified bounds, and operating a hand gesture calculator. However, the system requires accurate hand gesture detection, which is impeded by background clutter and variations in illumination and in the hand's size and angle. To address this, we developed a robust hand detection module that uses a single-stage transformer deep network. The transformer network encodes global information and uses bipartite matching to reduce the frequency of spurious detections. It drives a regression head and a classification head to localize the hand gesture in a bounding box and assign it a class label. Hand keypoints are also detected to support drawing, path traversal, and calculator use. The approach is evaluated on two benchmark datasets: 1) OUHANDS and 2) NUS. The method yields 89.6% accuracy for OUHANDS and 100% for NUS. These results indicate that precise hand detection can support a robust system for rehabilitation through hand exercises. Our experiments confirm that the users' hand function progressively improved. © 2023 IEEE.
