An adaptive antenna array of the land-based equipment of the Global Navigation Satellite System has to be able to accept the signals from a several satellites and to suppress a several interfering signals simultaneously. The side lobe canceller is one of the widely used adaptive arrays to do this job. Unfortunately, this array does not ensure any specified value of its radiation pattern towards any direction except the directions towards the interfering signal sources. As a result, this array does not ensure the same conditions for the reception of the signals from all visible satellites. The problem solution, which is proposed in this paper, is to use the linearly constrained array instead of the side lobe canceller. A single constraint in a form of a fixed radiation pattern value towards the normal to the array aperture (zenith direction) allows to produce a beam which is always steered towards this direction in spite of the radiation pattern changing caused by the interfering signals cancellation. This ensures a stable reception of the signals at least from the satellites whose angular locations are within the array beam. The performance of a circular linearly constrained array and a circular side lobe canceller of the nine omnidirectional antennas is compared by means of simulation. A better performance of the circular linearly constrained array comparing to the circular linearly constrained array is demonstrated. This is ensured by a wider beam with a bigger gain of the linearly constrained array. This beam allows to receive the signals from a larger number of visible satellites. These results suggest a preferable usage of the linearly constrained arrays against the side lobe cancellers in the receivers of the Global Navigation Satellite System. © 2024 IEEE.

The paper presents two techniques to speed up routing of user circuits within an island-style FPGA design flow. The basic algorithm is the modified Pathfinder that supports a mixed route graph representation of FPGA routing resources. The first technique reduces the number of rip-up and reroute iterations and allows decreasing routing time by 38% on average while increasing the critical path delay up to 10% only. The second technique utilizes the idea of directed pathfinding on a mixed route graph with known geometric coordinates of its vertices and edges. Various values of directed path search adjustment factor were investigated and the optimal one was discovered. The introduced routing method adjusted by an optimal factor value is shown to double a routing speedup without routability degradation. Also, the paper proposes a formal description of FPGA routing resources and a routing task itself. © 2022 IEEE.

An equalizer of a room acoustic frequency responses is presented in this paper. Such equalizers often require the usage of a large number of weights adaptive filter that means a large computational complexity of the filter and the equalizer. The considered equalizer uses the modified x-filtered Recursive Least Squares (RLS) adaptive filter. The computationally efficient fast RLS adaptive filters are often unstable if the number of their weights is large. That is why such filters are not suitable for the application in the room equalizers. The Matrix Inversion Lemma (MIL) RLS adaptive filters are stable but they are computationally complex in such applications. The equalizer presented in this paper uses a simplified MIL RLS adaptive filter. The correlation matrix of the filter is diagonalized. Besides, each of a square submatrix at the diagonal of the simplified correlation matrix are inverted using the computationally efficient version of the MIL which takes into consideration the symmetrical structure of these submatrices. The simulation proves the operability of the equalizer and demonstrates the efficiency of the simplified equalizer comparting to its full version. The demonstration includes different pictures like the frequency responses, power spectral densities and signal waveforms. © 2023 IEEE.

This paper presents two adaptive filters with a reduced arithmetic complexity which are based on the Recursive Least Squares (RLS) algorithms. The first one is the cascaded adaptive filter. The second one is the adaptive filter with the diagonalized correlation matrix of the input signal. The both filters have a reduced arithmetic complexity comparing to the direct implementation of the adaptive filter. The cost of the reduction is some degradation of the adaptive filter performance. The reduction is achieved only if the RLS algorithms with quadratic complexity are used. The computational procedures and the arithmetic complexities of the considered adaptive filters are the same, but the performance is different. This paper presents the RLS algorithms based on the Matrix Inversion Lemma (MIL). However, all the results and conclusions are valid for any RLS algorithms with quadratic complexity. The paper demonstrates the considered adaptive filter performance via simulation. © 2022 IEEE.

A phase-less algorithm of the antenna array calibration is presented in this paper. The algorithm is used to estimate and compensate the signal phase lag variation in the array channels. The estimated phase lags include the lags, caused by the channel equipment, and the lags, caused by the signal source spatial location in the case of the receiving array or, otherwise, the receiver spatial location in the case of the transmitting array. The compensation of the first-mentioned phase lags means the array calibration and the compensation of the second-mentioned phase lags means the array calibration and beam steering simultaneously, because the channel, space and phase lags are not separable. The proposed algorithm requires \boldsymbol{4+4(M-1)} measurements of the array output power after the changing of the signal phase to the specific values sequentially in the pairs of the reference and each of the calibrated channels of the array. Here, \boldsymbol{M} is the number of the array channels. This algorithm requires about 33% less power measurements, and therefore has less complexity comparing to the similar calibration algorithm, which requires \boldsymbol{2+6(M-1)} of such measurements. The accuracy of the channel phase estimation using the proposed or known calibration algorithm does not exceed the value of one discrete of the phase quantization by means of the digitally controlled phaseshifter. The proposed algorithm can be used in arrays of arbitrary geometric configuration. © 2022 IEEE.

The adaptive array with a rectangular aperture, whose antennas are placed in the nodes of the rectangular grid, is considered in the paper. The partial adaptability is provided via the base-band combination of the signals in the rows and in the columns of the array. Opposite to the hybrid arrays, based on the subarray output signals combination, the arrays based on the row and the column signal combination, do not suffer on the grating lobes phenomenon, which restricts the ability of the cancellation of the interferences, whose source spatial locations are coincided with those of the grating lobes. A version of the Matrix Inversion Lemma Recursive Least Squares adaptive algorithm for the partially adaptive narrow-band array weight calculation is presented. The Householder transform or QR decomposition adaptive algorithms can be used as well. The algorithm arithmetic complexity does not depend on the number of the array antennas, but depends on the array columns number and the rows number. The simulation results demonstrate that the steady-state performance of the adaptive array with the partial adaptation is the same as that of the adaptive array with the full adaptation if the number of the received signal sources does not exceed the number of the partially adaptive array weights. The dynamic behavior of the both arrays in the terms of the radiation pattern values in the directions of the received signal sources is differed only at the initial stage of the transient response. The equivalent weights of the full array used for the radiation pattern calculations are reconstructed via the combination of the weights of the crossed rows and the crossed columns of the partially adaptive array. The considered partial adaptation can be used in the large rectangular antenna arrays. © 2022 IEEE.

In the field-programmable gate array and programmable system-on-a-chip design flow routing is a highly time-consuming stage that provides the last opportunity to make any design optimizations. Therefore, reducing its runtime with no significant losses in a quality of result occurs to be an extremely important problem to solve. This paper proposes a modification of a PathFinder-based algorithm to implement a directed search technique which contributes FPGA routing acceleration. The main idea is to direct the searching process by routing graph connectivity consideration in a form of backpass trees. The modification is relevant for the situation when there are no geometric coordinates known for FPGA/PSoC routing resources. The modified algorithm was tested on IWLS'2005 and some commercial benchmark sets. The obtained experimental results demonstrate an average runtime reduction by 10% while the average critical path delay and wirelength slightly increase (1.8% and 0.3% respectively) caused by usage of the introduced backpass trees structures. © 2022 IEEE.

Medical research has made tremendous progress in detecting various pathologies in the human body. There is still the problem of the speed of the process, and the lack of a sufficient number of trained professionals in this field. Detection of prostate cancer, in particular, without surgery is a very labor-intensive process. A neural network-based machine learning algorithm has been proposed to solve this problem, making it possible to see suspected areas of lesions in the organ. In this study, a comprehensive analysis of TRUS image processing approaches was carried out, and an algorithm architecture was developed to segment the affected areas. Based on this analysis, we have developed a system for automatic detection and segmentation of prostate cancer. © 2023 IEEE.

Graphical user interface is an inherent part of any modern computer aided design system, especially in micro- and nanoelectronics area. Carefully developed interface can notably simplify and boost up the integrated circuits design process. The proposed paper studies the problem of developing the placement and routing algorithms that are essential for solving the problem of digital integrated circuits visualization. These algorithms are the basis of a graphical design tool for digital circuits at the gate level. The suggested algorithms are built upon such known methods as ranking-based placement and Mikami-Tabuchi routing algorithm. In the paper, a graph model for a digital circuit representation and software implementation aspects are also proposed. The visualization results of some circuits from ISCAS'89 testbench are represented. © 2023 IEEE.

Abstract: Specialization of configurable heterogeneous ICs for specific customer proposals requires the flexibility of design and technological solutions. This, in turn, leads to the necessity of the automatic adjustment of CAD, including software placement tools, on the changes made. The development of efficient methods and tuning algorithms is impossible without relying on the appropriate mathematical apparatus. This study presents a set-theoretic mathematical model of a hierarchical project and formalizes a hierarchical approach to the netlist using the apparatus of set theory, mathematical logic, and graph theory. To ensure quick configuration of clustering and placement software tools, taking into account the changes made to the basic design, the correspondence between the elements of the basic FPGA design and user-designed circuits from the end user is formalized. The obtained results can serve as a base for the development of the efficient methods and algorithms for the automatic tuning of software clustering and placement tools. © 2022, Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
