The efficient use of future MPSoCs with f 000 or more processor cores requires new means of resource-aware programming to deal with increasing imperfections such as process variation, fault rates, aging effects, and power as well as thermal problems. In this paper, we apply a new approach called invasive computing that enables an application programmer to spread computations to processors deliberately and on purpose at certain points of the program. Such decisions can be made depending on the degree of application parallelism and the state of the underlying resources such as utilization, load, and temperature. The introduced programming constructs for resource-aware programming are embedded into the parallel computing language X10 as developed by IBM using a library-based approach. Moreover, we show how individual heterogeneous MPSoC architectures may be modeled for subsequent functional simulation by defining compute resources such as processors themselves by lightweight threads that are executed in parallel together with the application threads by the X10 run-time system. Thus, the state changes of each hardware resource may be simulated including temperature, aging, and other useful monitor functionality to provide a first high-level programming test-bed for invasive computing. A new decision procedure for the existential fragment of ordering constraints expressed using the recursive path ordering is presented. This procedure is nondeterministic and checks whether a set of constraints is solvable over the given signature, i.e., the signature over which the terms in the constraints are defined. It is shown that this non-deterministic procedure runs in polynomial time, thus establishing the membership of this problem in the complexity class NP for the first time. © Springer-Verlag Berlin Heidelberg 1999.

Selecting the most relevant subset of features from a dataset is a vital step in data mining and machine *** feature in a dataset has 2n possible subsets,making it challenging to select the optimum collection of features using typical *** a result,a new metaheuristicsbased feature selection method based on the dipper-throated and grey-wolf optimization(DTO-GW)algorithms has been developed in this *** can result when the selection of features is subject to metaheuristics,which can lead to a wide range of ***,we adopted hybrid optimization in our method of optimizing,which allowed us to better balance exploration and harvesting chores more *** propose utilizing the binary DTO-GW search approach we previously devised for selecting the optimal subset of *** the proposed method,the number of features selected is minimized,while classification accuracy is *** test the proposed method’s performance against eleven other state-of-theart approaches,eight datasets from the UCI repository were used,such as binary grey wolf search(bGWO),binary hybrid grey wolf,and particle swarm optimization(bGWO-PSO),bPSO,binary stochastic fractal search(bSFS),binary whale optimization algorithm(bWOA),binary modified grey wolf optimization(bMGWO),binary multiverse optimization(bMVO),binary bowerbird optimization(bSBO),binary hysteresis optimization(bHy),and binary hysteresis optimization(bHWO).The suggested method is superior 4532 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 and successful in handling the problem of feature selection,according to the results of the experiments.

Background: In this Innovative Practice Work in Progress, we present our initial efforts to integrate formal methods, with a focus on model-checking specifications written in Temporal Logic of Actions (TLA+), into computer science education, targeting undergraduate juniors/seniors and graduate students. Many safety-critical systems and services crucially depend on correct and reliable behavior. Formal methods can play a key role in ensuring correct and safe system behavior, yet remain underutilized in educational and industry contexts. Aims: We aim to (1) qualitatively assess the state of formal methods in computer science programs, (2) construct level-appropriate examples that could be included midway into one's undergraduate studies, (3) demonstrate how to address successive 'failuresy' through progressively stringent safety and liveness requirements, and (4) establish an ongoing framework for assessing interest and relevance among students. Methods: We detail our pedagogical strategy for embedding TLA+ into an intermediate course on formal methods at our institution. After starting with a refresher on mathematical logic, students specify the rules of simple puzzles in TLA+ and use its included model checker (known as TLC) to find a solution. We gradually escalate to more complex, dynamic, event-driven systems, such as the control logic of a microwave oven, where students will study safety and liveness requirements. We subsequently discuss explicit concurrency, along with thread safety and deadlock avoidance, by modeling bounded counters and buffers. Results: Our initial findings suggest that through careful curricular design and choice of examples and tools, it is possible to inspire and cultivate a new generation of software engineers proficient in formal methods. Conclusions: Our initial efforts suggest that 84% of our students had a positive experience in our formal methods course. Maintainability, extendibility and reusability of components in the design of robot control architectures is a major challenge. Parallel kinematic robots feature a wide variety of structures and applications. They are subject to easy reconfiguration because of the passive structure limbs. This class of robots requires more extensive calculations in their control laws than serial manipulators. During complex motion tasks, such as the ones required in assembly sequences, the algorithmic load may also vary over time. However, no generic control approach exists in order to reduce the complexity of control design for these kind of robots. In this paper the authors introduce an architecture for handling and assembly applications featuring self-management techniques as an approach to tackle these problems. The existing architecture features a modular and layered design. Concepts of self-management and self-optimization applied to this architecture are outlined. These properties are realized by the integration of self-managers within crucial system components. The mechanisms are extended for a future distributed version of the architecture. Real-time properties are guaranteed by an online formal analysis that verifies planned adaptations before realizing them. Copyright © 2008 by ASME.

Event-Based Systems (EBS) can efficiently analyze large streams of sensor data in near-realtime. But they struggle with noise or incompleteness that is seen in the unprecedented amount of data generated by the Internet of Things. We present a generic approach that deals with uncertain data in the middleware layer of distributed event-based systems and is hence transparent for developers. Our approach calculates alternative paths to improve the overall result of the data analysis. It dynamically generates, updates, and evaluates Bayesian Networks based on probability measures and rules defined by developers. An evaluation on position data shows that the improved detection rate justifies the computational overhead.

Fairness concern behavior, a well-known cognitive bias, refers to a person’s attitude of dissatisfaction for unequal pay-offs in someone’s favor. Against environmental pollution, many firms are focused on green manufacturing to maintain sustainable development. The adoption of online shopping by customers around the globe has altered the dynamics of competitiveness in the retail supply chain (SC). Considering the above facts, the effect of fairness concern on optimal prices and channel members’ profits in a two-level dual channel SC is investigated. Here, we consider an SC comprising a green manufacturer and a fair-minded retailer where the manufacturer produces and sells the green product through both offline and online channels to consumers. Due to uncertainty in the real world, the fuzziness is associated with market demand, price elasticity, and the coefficient of greenness. The fuzzy objectives and constraints are reduced to crisp ones using expectation and possibility measures, respectively. Both centralized and decentralized models (with and without cognitive bias) are formulated and solved by the Stackelberg game for the optimal prices and product greenness level. The models’ optimal solutions are analyzed and compared with the deterministic models numerically. The effects of the fairness concern coefficient on the optimal prices, product greenness level, and channel members’ profits are investigated. The sensitivity analyses are presented to study the effects of the fuzzy degree of customers’ sensitivity toward greenness on channel members’ profits. Retailer’s fairness is harmful to the manufacturer but beneficial for her own profit. The Internet of Things(IoT)is a modern approach that enables connection with a wide variety of devices *** to the resource constraints and open nature of IoT nodes,the routing protocol for low power and lossy(RPL)networks may be vulnerable to several routing ***’s why a network intrusion detection system(NIDS)is needed to guard against routing assaults on RPL-based IoT *** imbalance between the false and valid attacks in the training set degrades the performance of machine learning employed to detect network ***,we propose in this paper a novel approach to balance the dataset classes based on metaheuristic optimization applied to locality-sensitive hashing and synthetic minority oversampling technique(LSH-SMOTE).The proposed optimization approach is based on a new hybrid between the grey wolf and dipper throated optimization *** prove the effectiveness of the proposed approach,a set of experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of NIDS for three cases,namely,detection without dataset balancing,detection with SMOTE balancing,and detection with the proposed optimized LSHSOMTE *** results showed that the proposed approach outperforms the other approaches and could boost the detection *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to study the significance and stability of the proposed *** conducted experiments include seven different types of attack cases in the RPL-NIDS17 *** on the 2696 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 proposed approach,the achieved accuracy is(98.1%),sensitivity is(97.8%),and specificity is(98.8%).
