Logistic Regression (LR) is a widely used statistical model for classification problems. However, its training and evaluation in a shared environment increase the possibility of information leaking. A federated LR reduces security issues by using only locally available data for training. In a Federated Learning (FL) environment, LR receives the coefficients of local models to create the federated LR model, which is then distributed to update the local models. The exchange process does not leak confidential information when LR coefficients are encrypted. Homomorphic Encryption (HE) allows the merging of local LR models with privacy preservation (HE-LR). This work presents a novel training policy to reduce the training time with only slightly decreased quality in an FL environment with HE. We analyze the accuracy and time of FL policies with HE-LR that progressively reduce the amount of training data and exchange the LR coefficients in a privacy-preserving manner. The results show that the proposed policy can speed up the training time between 12% and 69%, compared to the traditional FL approach, with an average decrease in accuracy of 1.79% and 1.95%. ©2024 IEEE.

Several instances of pneumonia with no clear etiology were recorded in Wuhan,China,on December 31,*** world health organization(WHO)called it COVID-19 that stands for“Coronavirus Disease 2019,”which is the second version of the previously known severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS)Coronavirus and identified in short as(SARSCoV-2).There have been regular restrictions to avoid the infection spread in all countries,including Saudi *** prediction of new cases of infections is crucial for authorities to get ready for early handling of the virus ***:Analysis and forecasting of epidemic patterns in new SARSCoV-2 positive patients are presented in this research using metaheuristic optimization and long short-term memory(LSTM).The optimization method employed for optimizing the parameters of LSTM is Al-Biruni Earth Radius(BER)***:To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed methodology,a dataset is collected based on the recorded cases in Saudi Arabia between March 7^(th),2020 and July 13^(th),*** addition,six regression models were included in the conducted experiments to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed *** achieved results show that the proposed approach could reduce the mean square error(MSE),mean absolute error(MAE),and R^(2)by 5.92%,3.66%,and 39.44%,respectively,when compared with the six base *** the other hand,a statistical analysis is performed to measure the significance of the proposed ***:The achieved results confirm the effectiveness,superiority,and significance of the proposed approach in predicting the infection cases of COVID-19.

The report considers the peculiarities of the distribution of computing resources in cloud systems. The most used classification of existing technologies of cloud services is considered. The advantages and disadvantages of such technologies are analyzed. The characteristic features of cloud computing that will need to be taken into account when allocating resources have been identified. IAAS technology has been shown to be most vulnerable to suboptimal resource allocation or reallocation. An expanded set of indicators for IAAS technology has been identified, including time-varying ones that need to be considered in resource allocation. Solving this problem will increase the efficiency of the use of cloud computing resources in general, increase application productivity and reduce the cost of infrastructure and its maintenance. © 2022 IEEE.

In this study, a new generalized model of thermo-viscoelasticity with three phase-lag (TPL) theory concerning memory-dependent derivative (MDD) theory is emphasized. The governing combined equations of the novel model associated with kernel function and time delay are considered in a two-dimensional semi-infinite space. The bounding surface of the medium is assumed to be free of traction and subjected to time-dependent thermal loading. Using Laplace and Fourier Transform techniques, the problem is transformed from the space–time domain and then solved numerically. Suitable numerical technique is used to find the inversion of Fourier and Laplace transforms. In the simulation, the effects of the time-delay parameter and kernel function on the distributions of the displacement components, stresses and temperature field are studied and represented graphically. The results shows that the presence of TPL, the time-delay and kernel function extensively affect all the distributions. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer Nature India Private Limited.

Path dissolution is an efficient generalization of the method of analytic tableaux. Both methods feature (in the propositional case) strong completeness, the lack of reliance upon conjunctive normal form (CNF), and the ability to produce a list of essential models (satisfying interpretations) of a formula. Dissolution can speed up every step in a tableau deduction in classical logic. The authors consider means for adapting both techniques to multiple-valued logics, and show that the speed-up theorem applies in this more general setting. These results are pertinent for modeling uncertainty and commonsense reasoning.< >

Dynamics of a predator-prey model with stage-structure on both species and anti-predator behavior

In this paper, we have formulated and studied a stage-structure predator-prey model. Here, we consider stage-structure on both prey as well as predator population which means that the prey population is divided into two sub populations such as juvenile prey and adult prey, on the other hand, the predator population is also divided into two sub populations such as juvenile predator and adult predator. It is assumed that only adult predator have the ability to predation and they consume both juvenile prey as well as adult prey. Here, it is also considered that the growth rate of juvenile prey depends upon the adult prey population i.e., the juvenile prey has no reproduction capability. Also, Holling II and Holling IV response function have been used for the consumption of juvenile prey and adult prey by adult predator respectively. It is also considered two types of factors such as anti-predator behavior and group defense to formulate our proposed model. Mathematically, we have analyzed the positivity and boundedness of solutions, existence of equilibria, stability of the proposed system around these equilibrium points and Hopf bifurcation of interior equilibrium point. Finally, some numerical simulations have been presented to validate our theoretical results. © 2017

In terms of security and privacy,mobile ad-hoc network(MANET)continues to be in demand for additional debate and *** more MANET applications become data-oriented,implementing a secure and reliable data transfer protocol becomes a major concern in the ***,MANET’s lack of infrastructure,unpredictable topology,and restricted resources,as well as the lack of a previously permitted trust relationship among connected nodes,contribute to the attack detection burden.A novel detection approach is presented in this paper to classify passive and active black-hole *** proposed approach is based on the dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithm,which presents a plausible path out of multiple paths for statistics transmission to boost MANETs’quality of service.A group of selected packet features will then be weighed by the DTO-based multi-layer perceptron(DTO-MLP),and these features are collected from nodes using the Low Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchical(LEACH)clustering *** is a powerful classifier and the DTO weight optimization method has a significant impact on improving the classification process by strengthening the weights of key features while suppressing the weights ofminor *** hybridmethod is primarily designed to combat active black-hole *** the LEACH clustering phase,however,can also detect passive black-hole *** effect of mobility variation on detection error and routing overhead is explored and evaluated using the suggested *** diverse mobility situations,the results demonstrate up to 97%detection accuracy and faster execution ***,the suggested approach uses an adjustable threshold value to make a correct conclusion regarding whether a node is malicious or benign.

State identification sequences, such as homing and distinguishing sequences (HS and DS), are widely used in FSM (Finite State Machine) based testing in order to reduce the size of a returned complete test suite as well as minimize checking efforts in passive testing. Preset HS are known to always exist for deterministic complete reduced FSMs but it is not the case for nondeterministic FSMs. It is also known that in this case, adaptive HS exist more often and usually are shorter than the preset. Nowadays, a number of specifications are represented by nondeterministic FSMs and thus, a deeper study of such sequences is required. There exist sufficient and necessary conditions for the existence of an adaptive HS for complete nondeterministic FSMs when each state can be an initial state but those conditions become only sufficient for weakly initialized FSMs where only some states are initial. In this paper, we propose sufficient and necessary conditions for a weakly initialized FSM to have an adaptive homing sequence, possibly up to given length, which are based on deriving an appropriate so-called homing FSM. The experimental evaluation of the existence of adaptive and preset HS is performed for randomly generated FSMs. © 2019 IEEE.

In surveillance, sports, finances, etc., distributed event-based systems are used to detect meaningful events with low latency in high data rate event streams. Both known approaches to deal with the predominant out-of-order event arrival at the distributed detectors have their shortcomings: buffering approaches introduce latencies for event ordering and stream revision approaches may result in system overloads due to unbounded retraction cascades. This paper presents a speculative processing technique for out-of-order event streams that enhances typical buffering approaches. In contrast to other stream revision approaches our novel technique encapsulates the event detector, uses the buffering technique to delay events but also speculatively processes a portion of it, and adapts the degree of speculation at runtime to fit the available system resources so that detection latency becomes minimal. Our technique outperforms known approaches on both synthetical data and real sensor data from a Realtime Locating System (RTLS) with several thousands of out-of-order sensor events per second. Speculative buffering exploits system resources and reduces latency by 40% on average. Copyright © 2013 ACM.

Application of Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic to polypropylene business policy in a petrochemical plant in India

This paper presents a new approach to predict the quality of polypropylene in petrochemical plants. The proposed approach constructs four different models, based on a large number of data collected from a renowned petrochemical plant in India and uses it to predict the polypropylene quality. The quality of polypropylene depends on the indices such as melt flow index and the xylene solubility of the product and the parameters controlling these two indices are hydrogen flow, donor flow, pressure and temperature of polymerization reactors. Mamdani Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Logic inference systems are formed for first time. The model outcomes are compared with the collected plant data and a sequence of sensitivity analysis elects the most suitable model from them. Some sensitivity analyses are provided using Fuzzy C-Means Clustering to the models. © 2015 The Authors
