ModelicaML is a UML profile for the creation of executable models. ModelicaML supports the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) paradigm and combines the power of the OMG UML standardized graphical notation for systems and software modeling, and the simulation power of Modelica. This addresses the increasing need for precise integrated modeling of products containing both software and hardware. This paper focuses on the implementation of executable UML state machines in ModelicaML and demonstrates that using Modelica as an action language enables the integrated modeling and simulation of continuous-time and reactive or event-based system dynamics. More specifically, this paper highlights issues that are identified in the UML specification and that are experienced with typical executable implementations of UML state machines. The issues identified are resolved and rationales for design decisions taken are discussed.

Where is system architecture heading? The special interest group on computer and Systems Architecture (Fachausschuss Rechner- und Systemarchitektur) of the German computer and information technology associations GI and ITG a- ed this question and discussed it during two Future Workshops in 2002. The result in a nutshell: Everything will change but everything else will remain. Future systems technologies will build on a mature basis of silicon and IC technology,onwell-understoodprogramminglanguagesandsoftwareengineering techniques, and on well-established operating systems and middleware concepts. Newer and still exotic but exciting technologies like quantum computing and DNA processing are to be watched closely but they will not be mainstream in the next decade. Although there will be considerable progress in these basic technologies, is there any major trend which uni?es these diverse developments? There is a common denominator – according to the result of the two - ture Workshops – which marks a new quality. The challenge for future systems technologies lies in the mastering of complexity. Rigid and in?exible systems, built under a strict top-down regime, have reached the limits of manageable complexity, as has become obvious by the recent failure of several large-scale projects. Nature is the most complex system we know, and she has solved the problem somehow. We just haven’t understood exactly how nature does it. But it is clear that systems designed by nature, like an anthill or a beehive or a swarm of birds or a city, are di?erent from today’s technical systems that have beendesignedbyengineersandcomputerscientists.

The article presents the design of an application interface for associated medical data visualization and management for neurologists in a stroke clustering and prediction system called Stroke MD. The goal of the system is to facilitate efficient visual data introduction and knowledge extraction based on a predictive model implementation. Aspects such as quality of the visualized data, type of the viewed data (risk factor groups, clustered groups, data alerts, conclusions etc.) and efficient user-software interaction directly influenced decisions about system design, in particular the design of the doctor's/patient's user interface sides, input methods and user-software interaction techniques, ending in to a hybrid setup of interface.

In this paper, we consider the synchronous composition of Finite State Machines (FSMs) that corresponds to instantaneous communication of hardware components. Such FSMs can be deterministic or nondeterministic, partial or complete. We first extend the existing synchronous composition operator from a pair of components to a collection of components with multiple input and output ports, and provide a procedure to compute the composition working directly on the collection of transition tables of the component FSMs. Then, based on the notion of input-output Moore pair (the output is not sensitive to the input), we prove the following sufficient condition: if the composition has the property that every cycle of ports has a component with a Moore pair, then the class of quasi-complete and quasi-deterministic FSMs is closed under the proposed synchronous composition.

Dual-image based reversible data hiding scheme using pixel value difference expansion

In this paper, we propose a dual-image based reversible data hiding scheme. Here, we divide a secret message into sub-stream of size n bits, where n-1 bits are embedded using Pixel Value Differencing (PVD) and 1 bit is embedded using Difference Expansion (DE). We consider two consecutive pixels from cover image, calculate the difference between them andthen embed n-1 bits secret message by modifying the pixel pair. Again, we consider that modified pixel pair to embed 1 bit secret message using embedding function. After that, we distribute these two stego pixel pairs among dual image depending on a shared secret key bit stream. At the receiver end, we extract the secret message successfully and recover original cover image from dual stego image without any distortion. Finally, we compare our scheme with other state-of-the-art methods and obtain reasonably better performance in terms of data embedding capacity.

Applications of internet-of-things(IoT)are increasingly being used in many facets of our daily life,which results in an enormous volume of *** computing and fog computing,two of the most common technologies used in IoT applications,have led to major security *** are on the rise as a result of the usage of these technologies since present security measures are *** artificial intelligence(AI)based security solutions,such as intrusion detection systems(IDS),have been proposed in recent *** technologies that require data preprocessing and machine learning algorithm-performance augmentation require the use of feature selection(FS)techniques to increase classification accuracy by minimizing the number of features *** the other hand,metaheuristic optimization algorithms have been widely used in feature selection in recent *** this paper,we proposed a hybrid optimization algorithm for feature selection in *** proposed algorithm is based on grey wolf(GW),and dipper throated optimization(DTO)algorithms and is referred to as *** proposed algorithm has a better balance between the exploration and exploitation steps of the optimization process and thus could achieve better *** the employed IoT-IDS dataset,the performance of the proposed GWDTO algorithm was assessed using a set of evaluation metrics and compared to other optimization approaches in 2678 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 the literature to validate its *** addition,a statistical analysis is performed to assess the stability and effectiveness of the proposed *** results confirmed the superiority of the proposed approach in boosting the classification accuracy of the intrusion in IoT-based networks.

Developing security-critical applications is very difficult and the past has shown that many applications turned out to be erroneous after years of usage. For this reason it is desirable to have a sound methodology for developing security-critical e-commerce applications. We present an approach to model these applications with the Unified Modeling Language (UML) [1] extended by a UML profile to tailor our models to security applications. Our intent is to (semi-) automatically generate a formal specification suitable for verification as well as an implementation from the model. Therefore we offer a development method seamlessly integrating semi-formal and formal methods as well as the implementation. This is a significant advantage compared to other approaches not dealing with all aspects from abstract models down to code. Based on this approach we can prove security properties on the abstract protocol level as well as the correctness of the protocol implementation in Java with respect to the formal model using the refinement approach. In this paper we concentrate on the modeling with UML and some details regarding the transformation of this model into the formal specification. We illustrate our approach on an electronic payment system called Mondex [10]. Mondex has become famous for being the target of the first ITSEC evaluation of the highest level E6 which requires formal specification and verification.

The complexity of pairwise RNA structure alignment depends on the structural restrictions assumed for both the input structures and the computed consensus structure. For arbitrarily crossing input and consensus structures, the problem is NP-hard. For non-crossing consensus structures, Jiang et al.'s (2002) [9] algorithm computes the alignment in O(n2m2) time where n and m denote the lengths of the two input sequences. If the input structures are also non-crossing, the problem corresponds to tree editing which can be solved in O(m2n(1+lognm)) time (Demaine et al., 2007) [3]. We present a new algorithm that solves the problem for d-crossing structures in O(dm2nlogn) time, where d is a parameter that is one for non-crossing structures, bounded by n for crossing structures, and much smaller than n on many practical examples. Crossing input structures allow for applications where the input is not a fixed structure but is given as base-pair probability matrices. © 2010 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
