In this work, we present a metadata for Quality of Security Service (QoSS) for Service-Oriented Architecture, which supports the description of authentication, authorization and privacy features. The metadata is encapsulated by a QoSS service in order to assist the service consumer and provider to achieve a QoSS contract meeting both of their security requirements. This contract performs as an enforced policy for managing the interactions between the parties.

The aim of this work is to develop a dose calculation engine for clinical proton beams based on a Monte- Carlo code, GEANT4 (G4 dose engine), and to evaluate the dose distributions calculated by the engine by comparing with the measurements and the calculations of the pencil-beam algorithm (PBA). The beam delivery system at Hyogo Ion Beam Medical Center was modeled and implement in the G4 dose engine. Treatment parameters for patients were transferred to the dose engine by using DICOM-RTPlan interface employed at HIBMC. Physics processes were verified by examining the Bragg curves in water and the scattering in the scatterer and the range-shifter, and were confirmed to be implemented properly in the GEAN4. The dose calculations were then done by the G4 dose engine in a water phantom with the treatment parameters of a sample patient to verify the DICOM-RTPlan interface as well as the effect of the range compensator. The dose distributions were compared with the measurements, and the calculations and the measurements were in good agreement. The dose calculations on CT images of a patient were performed and were compared with the calculations by the PBA. The calculations were in good agreement but a small disagreement at the distal edge was seen, and was presumably caused by the heterogeneity of the patient. © 2009 Springer-Verlag.

In this paper,the rank stability radius problem is proposed for a real matrix under structured scalar perturbations and some interesting results are achieved based on polynomial *** addition,a computable formula and a two-step procedure are obtained which nicely solves the problem in this simple ***,these results on rank stability radius are used to estimate the stability robustness of descriptor systems,and for a special class of symmetric descriptor systems,the rank stability radius is proved to be equal to the system stability radius.

InP-based photonic devices on SOI substrate using bonding technologies were demonstrated. Direct bonding and BCB bonding enable us to realize high optical confinement DFB lasers and other devices for intra/inter-chip connection in Si LSI circuit. Low threshold optical pumped membrane lasers and CW-operation of lateral current injection lasers with thin lateral cladding lasers were realized.

The discovery of biomarkers and the underlying causes of diseases are enabled through the analysis of biological samples and data stored in biobanks. Biological samples and their associated data are expensive to collect and maintain, and it is important to store and manage them efficiently. During processing, samples and data go through a number of procedures and techniques, which are often in different locations and by individuals with different access permissions. It is essential to maintain the link between the samples and their associated data throughout the processes they undergo. This paper presents a novel system of tracking samples and data from collection through processing to storage and retrieval, which is based on Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology. This system ensures the security and reliability of sample data as well as locationindependent recording and updating of sample data, as they move along the workflow. ©2009 IEEE.

In the past few years, semi-fragile watermarking has become increasingly important as it can be used to verify the content of images and to localise the tampered areas, while tolerating some non-malicious manipulations. In the literature, the majority of semi-fragile algorithms have applied a predetermined threshold to tolerate errors caused by JPEG compression. However, this predetermined threshold is typically fixed and cannot be easily adapted to different amounts of errors caused by unknown JPEG compression at different quality factors (QFs) applied to the watermarked images. In this paper, we analyse the relationship between QF and threshold, and propose the use of generalised Benford's Law as an image forensics technique for semi-fragile watermarking, to accurately detect the unknown QF of the images. The results obtained show an overall average QF correct detection rate of approximately 99% when 5% of the pixels are subjected to image content tampering, as well as compression using different QFs (ranging from 95 to 65). Consequently, our proposed image forensics method can adaptively adjust the threshold for images based on the estimated QF, therefore, improving the accuracy rates in authenticating and localising the tampered regions for semi-fragile watermarking.

A DSP method based on sub-sampling followed by M-point FFT of the sub-sampled signal is used to reduce the phase-locked loop's reference spur. To validate the system's effectiveness a digital calibration loop in SIMULINK is designed. The results show that the reference spur can be improved by 22 dBc with a 1% residual current mismatch and a 1 nA net value of leakage current.

The wide spread of worms poses serious challenges to today's *** IDSes (intrusion detection systems) have been proposed to identify or prevent such spread. These IDSes can be largely classified as signature-based or anomaly-based ones depending on what type of knowledge the system knows. Signature-based IDSes are unable to detect the outbreak of new and unidentified worms when the worms' characteristic patterns are unknown. In addition, new worms are often sufficiently intelligent to hide their activities and evade anomaly detection. Moreover, modern worms tend to spread more quickly, and the outbreak period lasts in the order of hours or even minutes. Such characteristics render existing detection mechanisms less *** this work, we consider the drawbacks of current detection approaches and propose PAIDS, a proximity-assisted IDS approach for identifying the outbreak of unknown worms. PAIDS does not rely on ***, it takes advantage of the proximity information of compromised hosts. PAIDS operates on an orthogonal dimension with existing IDS approaches and can thus work collaboratively with existing IDSes to achieve better performance. We test the effectiveness of PAIDS with trace-driven simulations and show that PAIDS has a high detection rate and a low false positive rate.

This paper describes a 65 nm 16-bit parallel transceiver IP macro, whose bandwidth is 4.8 GByte/s with 5 pf load including the HBM 2000v ESD protection. Equalizers and CDR modules, CRC checkers and 8b/10b encoders are not added in the design for reducing the latency and the whole latency is 7 ns without cables. Since the transceiver has many robust features including a PVT independent PLL with calibrations, the low skew differential clock tree, a stable current mode driver with common mode feedback. The transceiver can tolerance 20% power supply variations and work properly at different process corners and the extreme temperatures. The transceiver can be applied for the interface of sub-100 nm high performance processors which require low latency and high stability. The transceiver shows a BER less than 10 -15 at 3 Gb/s/pin.
