Self-supervised learning enables deep learning algorithms to achieve high performance even with limited labeled data. Numerous self-supervised learning methods have been proposed, and several medical artificial intelligence studies have confirmed the effectiveness of this technique in enhancing model performance. Nonetheless, only a few studies have investigated which self-supervised learning methods are appropriate for medical images. In this study, a comparative analysis to determine the most suitable self-supervised learning methods for developing medical artificial intelligence models using optical coherence tomography images. Four self-supervised learning methods were tested, and models were developed and validated using two publicly available optical coherence tomography datasets. The reliability of the model output was assessed through Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping analysis. As a result, using contrastive learning-based self-supervised learning methods, better performance was observed compared to other models, resulting in 99.90% and 99.05% accuracy for the two public optical coherence tomography datasets, which represents a 0.8% and 2.86% improvement over conventional supervised learning training. In addition, we confirmed that the contrastive learning-based model can more reliably localize disease lesions in the Gradient-weighted Class Activation Mapping analysis. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s)

Implementation of Continuous-Time quantum Walk on Sparse Graph

Continuous-time quantum walks (CTQWs) play a crucial role in quantum computing, especially for designing quantum algorithms. However, how to efficiently implement CTQWs is a challenging issue. In this paper, we study implementation of CTQWs on sparse graphs, i.e., constructing efficient quantum circuits for implementing the unitary operator e−iHt, where H = γA (γ is a constant and A corresponds to the adjacency matrix of a graph). Our result is, for a d-sparse graph with N vertices and evolution time t, we can approximate e−iHt by a quantum circuit with gate complexity (d3||H||tN log N)1+o(1), compared to the general Pauli decomposition, which scales like (||H||tN4 log N)1+o(1). For sparse graphs, for instance, d = O(1), we obtain a noticeable improvement. Interestingly, our technique is related to graph decomposition. More specifically, we decompose the graph into a union of star graphs, and correspondingly, the Hamiltonian H can be represented as the sum of some Hamiltonians Hj, where each e−iHjt is a CTQW on a star graph which can be implemented efficiently. © 2024, CC BY.

For the blockchain storage system, this paper proposes an I/O optimization scheme based on non-volatile memory based on the storage performance requirements of the blockchain system application. This scheme adopts the key-value separation strategy. Due to the uncertain size of transaction data, by separating the 'key' and 'value' of transaction data, the inherent read-write amplification problem of the LSM-Tree structure is solved. The key-value separation strategy redesigns the storage system's space management and garbage collection mechanisms. Therefore, this chapter uses the byte-addressing characteristics of non-volatile memory to build a new data storage structure, a lazy compression mechanism, and a lazy garbage collection mechanism. On this basis, this paper builds a LazyDB database system for blockchain storage. To ensure the safe and reliable operation of the blockchain system, it can make full use of the storage medium and data characteristics, reducing the blockchain reading and writing process. The I/O overhead in the storage system improves the storage performance of the system. The experimental results show that compared with the most commonly used databases, such as LevelDB and RocksDB in the blockchain system, LazyDB effectively reduces the write amplification of the system and has higher read, write, and data update performance. © 2023 IEEE.

Circuit Complexity of Sparse quantum State Preparation

quantum state preparation is a fundamental and significant subroutine in quantum computing. In this paper, we conduct a systematic investigation on the circuit size for sparse quantum state preparation. A quantum state is said to be d-sparse if it has only d non-zero amplitudes. For the task of preparing an n-qubit d-sparse quantum state, we obtain the following results: • Without ancillary qubits: We propose the first approach that uses o(dn) elementary gates without using ancillary qubits. Specifically, it is proven that any n-qubit d-sparse quantum state can be prepared by a quantum circuit of size O(logdnn +n) without using ancillary qubits. This is asymptotically optimal when d = poly(n), and this optimality extends to a broader scope under some reasonable assumptions. • With limited ancillary qubits: (i) We show that any n-qubit d-sparse quantum state can be prepared by a quantum circuit of size O(logdnd) and depth Θ(log dn) using at most O(logndd) ancillary qubits, which not only reduces the circuit size compared to the one without ancillary qubits when d = ω(poly(n)), but also achieves the same asymptotically optimal depth while utilizing fewer ancillary qubits and applying fewer quantum gates compared to the result given in [Physical Review Letters, 129, 230504(2022)]. (ii) We establish the lower bound Ω(log(n+dnm)+log d + n) on the circuit size with m ancillary qubits available. Additionally, we demonstrate a slightly stronger lower bound Ω(log(dnn+m) + n) under reasonable assumptions. • With unlimited ancillary qubits: We prove that with arbitrary amount of ancillary qubits available, the circuit size for preparing n-qubit d-sparse quantum states is Θ(logdndn + n). © 2024, CC BY.

Amorphous indium gallium zinc oxide (a-IGZO)-based thin film transistors (TFTs) are increasingly becoming popular because of their potential in futuristic applications, including CMOS technology. Given the demand for CMOS-compatible, ultra-scaled, reliable, and high-performing devices, we fabricate and analyze scaled-channel a-IGZO-TFTs with an optimal double-gate structure, a thin nanosheet-based channel, and an effective high- κ dielectric namely HfO2. The reliably reported double gate IGZO nanosheet TFTs (DG-IGZO-NS-TFTs) are tested under positive and negative bias stress at variant temperatures, and the resulting modulations are analyzed critically. The reported DG-IGZO-NSTFTs exhibit a negative side threshold voltage shift (Δ Vth) accompanied by an increase in Ion/Ion(0) under negative bias temperature stress (NBTS) at elevated temperatures, which indicates the presence of additional charges. An anomalous negative side shifting of the Vth is observed under positive bias temperature stress (PBTS), where diffused hydrogen atoms are identified as introducing excess n-type carriers into the channel and causing the observed Δ Vth. The spectroscopic analysis is performed to establish evidence for the assumed mechanisms, and the role of individual gates is investigated in the context of performance variance under temperature-bias stress. Moreover, the partial reversibility of the stress-induced degradation is experimentally established and methodically discussed. Overall, the reported results offer a comprehensive understanding of scaled-channel DG-NS-IGZO-TFTs, which help shape performance-enhancement strategies, control degradation mechanisms, and define appropriate application scenarios. © 2013 IEEE.

The Internet of Things (IoT) has brought smart healthcare systems to the medical industry. These systems are typically made up of a network, a remote server, and sensors with smart capabilities. The primary goals of this system are to offer multidimensional feature monitoring and fundamental therapy recommendations. The primary goals of Internet of Things (IoT)-based healthcare services are to enhance quality of life and offer a great user experience at an affordable price. The primary purpose of IoT is to give elderly patients with chronic illnesses access to trustworthy, efficient, and intelligent healthcare services as well as connectivity to the medical resources that are readily available. Thus, many studies are developed on the different applications which worked on the IoT for the healthcare which includes wearable as well as non-wearable devices or machines. Thus, it makes the users to obtain the data from anywhere and wherever required for the study or analysis of the patients. The hybrid storage architecture incorporates a blockchain dual-index structure optimized for byte addressing in non-volatile memory, low-latency features, and the large capacity of SSD. This paper presents a novel LSM-Tree architecture that leverages the byte-Addressing characteristics of non-volatile memory. The layers of the level0 and level1 are stored in non-volatile memory while employing a local key-value separation strategy to minimize read and write operations during compaction. A logic compression strategy is proposed to handle data compression tasks efficiently. A dual-index structure design is introduced for users to address the scope and multi-keyword queries in the blockchain system. During the compression process, keyword switching occurs during data reordering, ensuring that data within the same SSTable is rearranged according to user preferences. By effectively harnessing the advantages of each level in the hybrid storage architecture, this design significantly reduces both databases write time and the response time for complex queries. © 2023 IEEE.

Access to accurate traffic data is critical for drivers to effectively plan routes and reduce congestion. Traffic patterns, including vehicle speeds and volumes, may be analysed with the use of monitors set up along roads. The vast majority of currently available traffic prediction systems make use of historical traffic data. But, there are two issues with people: (1) they just used traffic statistics to make forecasts, and (2) they didn't consider the volume of data or the time it would take to analyses it. Yet, the weather has a significant effect in predicting how busy the roads will be. In this research, we provide a WTPS, or weather-based traffic predictive model, which uses both traffic and weather information to make accurate predictions. The experimental findings demonstrate that WTPS beats the state-of-the-art methods in terms of prediction accuracy in both dry and wet conditions. In order to handle high volumes of traffic, WTPS was developed using big data concepts. © 2024 IEEE.

Cryptocurrency, as a typical application scene of blockchain, has attracted broad interests from both industrial and academic communities. With its rapid development, the cryptocurrency transaction network embedding(CTNE) has become a hot topic. It embeds transaction nodes into low-dimensional feature space while effectively maintaining a network structure,thereby discovering desired patterns demonstrating involved users' normal and abnormal behaviors. Based on a wide investigation into the state-of-the-art CTNE, this survey has made the following efforts: 1) categorizing recent progress of CTNE methods, 2) summarizing the publicly available cryptocurrency transaction network datasets, 3) evaluating several widely-adopted methods to show their performance in several typical evaluation protocols, and 4) discussing the future trends of CTNE. By doing so, it strives to provide a systematic and comprehensive overview of existing CTNE methods from static to dynamic perspectives,thereby promoting further research into this emerging and important field.
