We demonstrate a digital electro-optic modulator (EOM) bias controller designed to maximize the extinction ratio of 100ps optical pulses, which are utilized for exciting single photons from quantum dots. The optical pulses formed by this EOM, continuous-wave tunable diode laser, and electronic pulse generator are an affordable and compact alternative to pulsed Ti: Sapphire Lasers.
