Reversible circuits have been studied extensively and intensively, and have plenty of applications in various areas, such as digital signal processing, cryptography, and especially quantum computing. In 2003, the lower bound Ω(2nn/log n) for the synthesis of n-wire reversible circuits was proved. Whether this lower bound has a matching upper bound was listed as one of the future challenging open problems in the survey (M. Saeedi and I. L Markov, ACM computing Surveys, 45(2):1–34, 2013). In this paper we propose an algorithm to implement an arbitrary n-wire reversible circuit with no more than O(2nn/log n) elementary gates, and thus close the open problem. © 2023, CC BY.

Successive cancellation list (SCL) decoders of polar codes excel in practical performance but pose challenges for theoretical analysis. Existing works either limit their scope to erasure channels or address general channels without taking advantage of soft information. In this paper, we propose the successive cancellation sampling (SCS) decoder. SCS hires iid “agents” to sample codewords using posterior probabilities. This makes it fully parallel and amenable for some theoretical analysis. As an example, when comparing SCS with $\boldsymbol{a}$ agents to any list decoder with list size $\boldsymbol{\ell}$ , we can prove that the error probability of the former is at most $\boldsymbol{\ell}/\boldsymbol{ae}$ more than that of the latter. In this paper, we also describe how to adjust the “temperature” of agents. Warmer agents are less likely to sample the same codewords and hence can further reduce error probability.

Named entity recognition has emerged as a critical step in recognizing, classifying, and extracting the most significant information from unstructured text without human intervention. It is used in information retrieval, conversation systems, machine translation, data mining, and information extraction. However, the Awngi language lacks a NER system due to inadequate datasets. This study combines feature extraction techniques with supervised machine learning algorithms, including support vector machines, Naïve Bayes, and conditional random fields with a grid search algorithm parameter optimization. These supervised machine-learning models often have various hyperparameters that must be tuned to optimize the model's performance by automatically selecting the parameter. Furthermore, the dataset used for training and testing consists of 20,193 annotated Awngi tokens, collected from Amhara Media Corporation, Awngi Telegram, and Facebook pages. The proposed SVM with grid search algorithm approach provided a promising result in ANER with an accuracy of 92% compared with Naïve Bayes, conditional random field, and decision-tree supervised machine learning models. Finally, the experiment results show that the proposed parameter tuning-based model can detect and categorize Awingi-named entities and outperforms the performance accuracy without parameter adjustment. © 2024 IEEE.

The crucial agricultural practice of precision pruning fruit trees greatly impacts fruit production yield and quality. Traditional pruning techniques take a lot of time and money because they need skilled workers and are labor-intensive. It suggests a novel cloud-based AI robotics system intended to precisely prune fruit trees to address these issues. This system uses cutting-edge robotics fitted with Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) to carry out precise and effective tasks related to pruning. Cloud computing integration makes it possible to process and make real-time decisions, improving the system's flexibility in responding to changing tree conditions and pruning needs. The system's primary parts are robotic arms for accurate cuts, various sensors for analyzing tree structures, and CNN models for maximizing pruning techniques. Early field trials show noticeable gains in operational efficiency and pruning accuracy compared to conventional techniques. This study demonstrates how cloud-integrated AI robotics can transform agricultural practices and improve fruit farming's sustainability and productivity. © 2025 IEEE.

Mode-locking mechanisms are key resources in nonlinear optical phenomena, such as micro-ring solitonic states, and have transformed metrology, precision spectroscopy, and optical communication. However, despite significant efforts, mode-locking has not been demonstrated in the independently tunable multi-timescale regime. Here, we vastly expand the nonlinear mode-locking toolbox into multi-timescale synchronization on a chip. We use topological photonics to engineer a 2D lattice of hundreds of coupled silicon nitride ring resonators capable of hosting nested mode-locked states with a fast (≈ 1 THz) single-ring and a slow (≈ 3 GHz) topological super-ring timescales. We demonstrate signatures of multi-timescale mode-locking including quadratic distribution of the pump noise with the two-time azimuthal mode dimensions, as expected by mode-locking theory. Our observations are further corroborated by direct signatures of the near-transform-limit repetition beats and the formation of the temporal pattern on the slow timescale. Moreover, we show that these exotic properties of edge-confined mode-locked states are in sharp contrast to bulk and single-ring counterparts and establish a clear pathway for their identification. Our unprecedented demonstration of mode-locking in topological combs unlocks the implementation of lattice-scale synchronization and independently tunable multi-timescale mode-locking phenomena, also the exploration of the fundamental nonlinearity-topology interplay on a chip. © 2025, CC BY.

Broadband time-energy entangled photons feature strong temporal correlations with potential for precision delay metrology, but previous work has leveraged only time-of-flight information ultimately limited by the detection jitter and resolution of the time-tagging electronics. Firstly, our work pushes the entanglement-based nonlocal delay metrology from the conventional time-of-flight measurement to a new direction—two-photon interferometry with subpicosecond sensitivity independent of detection resolution. Next, we show the selective sensitivity of frequency-bin encoded Bell states to the sum and difference of biphoton-delays by using a novel reconfigurable setup capable of switching between the Bell states by successively employing single and dual spectral-line pumps. © 2023 SPIE.

Human nose detects every kind of odors and our brain responds to every kind of smell that we are inhaling, so in the same way artificial nose or the electronic nose is a device that detects the smell and can enable the scope of digital smell technology. So, this paper proposes to optimize the design of an electronic nose that will eventually bring modification to the various digital platforms like internet, computers, mobile, television and tablets. We focused on design optimization of electronic nose which is built on a multichannel gas sensor array. The proposed electronic nose will enable the transmission or reception of smell over the internet and other digital platforms. The device can detect the smells of vapors coming out of volatile organic compounds. The sensing system is 3D printed in the model of a human nose. The sensing system works with an accuracy of detection of 90.45%. The response time of the electronic nose is 60 to 90 seconds, sometimes it is lesser than 60 seconds and it varies from substance to substance.

Revisiting fixed-point quantum search: proof of the quasi-Chebyshev lemma

The original Grover's algorithm suffers from the souffle problem, which means that the success probability of quantum search decreases dramatically if the iteration time is too small or too large from the right time. To overcome the souffle problem, the fixed-point quantum search with an optimal number of queries was proposed [Phys. Rev. Lett. 113, 210501 (2014)], which always finds a marked state with a high probability when a lower bound of the proportion of marked states is given. The fixed-point quantum search relies on a key lemma regarding the explicit formula of recursive quasi-Chebyshev polynomials, but its proof is not given explicitly. In this work, we give a detailed proof of this lemma, thus providing a sound foundation for the correctness of the fixed-point quantum search. This lemma may be of independent interest as well, since it expands the mathematical form of the recursive relation of Chebyshev polynomials of the first kind, and it also constitutes a key component in overcoming the souffle problem of quantum walk-based search algorithms, for example, robust quantum walk search on complete bipartite graphs [Phys.
