We study the lepton flavor violating (LFV) e(μ)−τ conversion in deep inelastic scattering (DIS) of electrons (muons) on fixed-target nuclei. Our model-independent analysis is based on the set of low-energy effective four-fermion LFV operators composed of leptons and quarks with the corresponding mass scales Λk for each operator. Using the estimated sensitivity of the search for this LFV process in events with large missing energy in the NA64 experiment at the CERN SPS, we derive lower limits for Λk and compared them with the corresponding limits existing in the literature. We show that the DIS e(μ)−τ conversion is able to provide a plenty of new limits as yet nonexisting in the literature. We also analyzed the energy spectrum of the final-state τ and discussed the viability of the observation of this process in the NA64 experiment and ones akin to it. The case of polarized beams and targets is also discussed.

We discuss the possible implications of our result in the photon-hadron reactions and in the dynamics of quark-photon interactions in the dense/hot quark matter.

The exciton spin dynamics are investigated both experimentally and theoretically in two-monolayer-thick GaAs/AlAs quantum wells with an indirect band gap and a type-II band alignment. The magnetic field induced circular polarization of photoluminescence Pc is studied as function of the magnetic field strength and direction as well as sample temperature. The observed nonmonotonic behavior of these functions is provided by the interplay of bright and dark exciton states contributing to the emission. To interpret the experiment, we have developed a kinetic master equation model which accounts for the dynamics of the spin states in this exciton quartet, radiative and nonradiative recombination processes, and redistribution of excitons between these states as result of spin relaxation. The model offers quantitative agreement with experiment and allows us to evaluate, for the studied structure, the heavy-hole g factor, ghh=+3.5, and the spin relaxation times of electron, τse=33μs, and hole, τsh=3μs, bound in the exciton.

One of the promising approaches to the efficient management in a heterogeneous distributed computing environment is the use of multi-agent systems. When researchers want to solve tasks in such an environment, they need utilities for the description of the processing in the specific domain, and knowledge about a software-hardware infrastructure. This multi-component knowledge is used for effective decision-making. Practice and experience of multi-agent systems show that knowledge representation is non-trivial problems. We proposed an approach to the design of the conceptual model of a heterogeneous distributed computing environment based on multi-agent management. An important component of the model is algorithmic knowledge, which provides the support of planning, resources allocation and dynamic decomposition of a problem to subproblems. This knowledge is represented as a semantic network, which describe semantic relations between concepts. Unlike to Semantic Web Services and Semantic Grids, our approach provides advanced planning abilities to support parallelism and scalability. We develop specialized high-level tools for designing and using the conceptual models.

Formation stability problem for a team of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV) with digital control is investigated. A leader-follower formation control algorithm for multi-AUV system is proposed. Feedback control signal for the follower, which is piecewise constant, is computed on the basis of discrete measurements of the distance and the bearing angle to the leader. A discrete observer for estimation of the derivatives of the distance and the bearing angle are used to improve the control performance. The parameters of the controller and observer are synthesized using a digital controlsystem design method based on the vector Lyapunov functions that allows one to take into account the uncertainties of the plant, measurement errors, and control constraints. Numerical simulations are carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

A nonlinear parabolic heat conduction equation with a source is discussed, for which solutions of the heat wave propagating against a cold background at a finite velocity are studied. A new theorem of the existence and uniqueness of heat waves is proved. A particular case is studied in detail, when the heat wave is invariant and its construction reduces to solving an ordinary differential equation. For the numerical construction of invariant heat waves, an algorithm based on the boundary element method is proposed. Test examples are solved.

The technology for creating an information and analytical environment (IAE) for spatial data processing based on the use of spatial data infrastructure (SDI) components and a service-oriented paradigm was proposed for the management of territorial development. The environment is characterized by its spatial nature and distribution of territorial information resources. At the same time, emphasis is placed on the transition from a standard SDI, as an access medium for the exchange of spatial data, to an SDI of an integration type, as an environment for access, exchange, creation, storage of new sets of spatial and thematic data and processing services. The use of Service-oriented Architecture (SOA), open standards by OGC (Open Geospatial Consortium), Web technologies, standardization of the browser's interface and Web services, allowed to move from local to distributed and 'cloud' computing in which information and computing resources are provided as Web services. The technology for creating an information and analytical environment involves the use of sets (combinations) of thematic Web services with standardized interfaces integrated with standard protocols (SOAP, WSDL, etc.).
