The paper addresses a relevant problem of computation scheduling in scientific applications (distributed applied software packages) executed in distributed environments. Forming an optimal schedule of jobs for executing of applied software (modules) is an NP-hard problem. Therefore, in practice, heuristic methods of scheduling are often used. In this regard, we propose a new static-dynamic algorithm for managing computations in heterogeneous distributed environments. The results of operating the proposed algorithm are simulated in comparison with other scenarios for computing management. They show that applying the algorithm makes it possible to achieve a rational balance between the scheduling time and the computations makespan. © 2021 for this paper by its authors. The method for controlling a DC-DC converter is proposed to ensures the high quality control at large fluctuations in load currents by using differential gain control coefficients and second derivative control. Various implementations of balancing the currents of a multiphase DC-DC converter are discussed, with a focus on achieving accurate current regulation without introducing additional delay in the control system. Stochastic particle swarm optimization method is used to find optimal values of the PID controller parameters. An automatic constraint-handling in optimization are also discussed as relevant techniques in the field.

The main object of study in this paper is the well-known Somos-4 recurrence. We prove a theorem that any sequence generated by this equation also satisfies Gale-Robinson one. The corresponding identity is written in terms of its companion elliptic sequence. An example of such relationship is provided by the second-order linear sequence which, as we prove using Wajda’s identity, satisfies the Somos-4 recurrence with suitable coefficients. Also, we construct a class of solutions to Volterra lattice equation closely related to the second-order linear sequence. © 2023, CC BY.

Precise and accurate online monitoring methods are needed to enable smart biomanufacturing and automation. Most of the sensors available focus on process parameters such as metabolite and dissolved gas concentrations, cell density or viability, among other variables like pH, temperature, etc. In this work, we develop a soft sensor algorithm to estimate the cell composition online, a very important aspect often overlooked in the bioprocess monitoring literature. Our strategy is based on full information estimation, an optimization-based estimator that takes into account the dynamics of the cell metabolism and considers all the available measurements from the beginning of the process, thus it has a memory effect. Being able to track dynamic changes in cell composition can open the door to promising applications, e.g., predictive control and automation of biosystems. As a case study, we consider the Escherichia coli's metabolism growing on glycerol under different levels of oxygen supply. We compare the performance of our soft sensor method against resource balance analysis, a previously proposed estimator based on steady-state assumptions. Overall, the presented full information estimator was able to track the dynamic changes in cell composition significantly more accurately. We also discuss how our estimation strategy can be transformed into a moving horizon estimation, where only the available measurements in a fixed and moving window are considered, thereby reducing possible computational burdens. The conditional gradient idea proposed by Marguerite Frank and Philip Wolfe in 1956 was so well received by the community that new algorithms (also called Frank–Wolfe type algorithms) are still being actively created. In this paper, we study a non-smooth stochastic convex optimization problem with constraints. Using a smoothing technique and based on an accelerated batched first-order Stochastic Conditional Gradient Sliding method, we propose a novel gradient-free Frank–Wolfe type algorithm called Zero-Order Stochastic Conditional Gradient Sliding (ZO-SCGS). This algorithm is robust not only for the class of non-smooth problems, but surprisingly also for the class of smooth black box problems, outperforming the SOTA algorithms in the smooth case in term oracle calls. In this paper, we study a discontinuous sweeping process involving prox-regular sets and a multivalued perturbation in a separable Hilbert space. The variation of the moving set is controlled by a positive Radon measure and the values of the perturbation are closed, not necessarily convex sets. A solution of the sweeping process is a pair consisting of a right continuous function of bounded variation whose differential measure is absolutely continuous with respect to some positive Radon measure and an integrable selector of theperturbation considered on this *** with the original perturbation we consider the perturbation with the convexified values. We prove theorems of existence and relaxation of solutions. The latter means the density of the solution set of the sweeping process with the original perturbation in the solution set of the sweeping process with the convexified perturbation. © 2023, The Authors. Tables are ubiquitously used to share relational data in various media and formats. Particularly, an enormous number of HTML tables are contained in web pages. They are a valuable data source for applications of web mining, question-answering, and knowledge base construction. However, not all HTML tables are genuine (i.e. containing relational data). Most of them are utilised as means of layout and navigation. In turn, the genuine tables can have different features of layouts, formatting, and content. One of the prevalent problems in web table extraction is to determine main functional and layout types and properties of tables wide-spread on the Web. Currently, a wide range of taxonomies of table types and properties is available to researchers and practitioners. All of these taxonomies could be utilised for table type classification in order to choose further type-specific treatment of tabular data. The existing taxonomies provide similar table types but use the confusing terminology. This paper is an attempt to overview the existing taxonomies of table types by matching their terminology and comparing them qualitatively. © 2022 Croatian Society MIPRO.

The Web stores a large volume of web-tables with semi-structured data. The Semantic Web community considers them as a valuable source for the knowledge graph population. Interrelated named entities can be extracted from web-tables and mapped to a knowledge graph. It generally requires reconstructing the semantics missing in web-tables to interpret them according to their meaning. This paper discusses prospects of an end-to-end solution for the knowledge graph population by entities extracted from web-tables of predefined types. The discussion covers theoretical foundations both for transforming data from web-tables to entity sets (table analysis) and for mapping entities, attributes, and relations to a knowledge graph (semantic table annotation). Unlike general-purpose text mining and web-scraping tools, we aim at developing a solution that takes into account the relational nature of the information represented in web-tables. In contrast to the table-specific proposals, our approach implies both the table analysis and the semantic table annotation. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.

Creating embedded decision-making modules for web applications that implement artificial intelligence methods in the form of knowledge bases is quite an interesting task. Specialized methodologies and software are being developed to solve them. At the same time, the use of generative and visual programming principles, as well as model transformations, can provide better results. In our previous works, we proposed to apply these principles combined with the model-driven approach for the automated creation of expert systems and knowledge bases. In this paper, we extend the previously developed method with new platforms, in particular: PHP (Hypertext Preprocessor) and Drools, as well as we add the possibility to use the decision tables formalism and Microsoft Excel tools for their construction. The modified (extended) method allows one to effectively create knowledge bases with a large number of logical rules and generate the source code for web embedded decision-making modules. This extension is implemented as a plugin for an expert system prototyping system, namely, Personal Knowledge Base Designer. This paper describes the extended method and examples of its application for the development of web application modules: for making decisions when detecting banned messages and identifying customers who violate rules of using the SMS notification service ("Detector"), and interpreting signs of emotions within the HR-Robot application ("EmSi-Interpreter"). The paper considers the problem of forest resources monitoring over large areas on the example of the Baikal natural territory. As the main data source, we use Sentinel-2 remote sensing data due to their regularity, broad coverage, multispectral parameters of the resulting image. The Random forest and Support Vector Machines (SVM) machine learning algorithms were used to classify land cover from the Sentinel-2 products. Both methods have shown good results with a fairly high accuracy. The training was carried out with data labeled manually into 12 classes. © 2021 Copyright for this paper by its authors.
