Smart ageing is the process of leveraging accessible socio-ecological opportunities to proactively build the desired lifestyle and preferred quality of life as people age. Different from other ageing models, smart ageing views the ageing process from a socio-ecological perspective, a process which is shaped by the interplay of social, cultural, economic, political, and technological factors, along with medical ones. Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach and pre-emptively defining a “universal” factor that decides the ageing process, smart ageing respects and emphasises individuals’ agency and efficacy in deciding what is important and appropriate to their well-being and designing their own ageing journey. While smart ageing can be a solution to population ageing, ingrained inequality issues like the digital divide can nevertheless hinder its ability to help people age at their own pace and with grace. To shed light on the issue, this paper examines the tsunami of social issues population ageing could unleash, and discusses how the smart ageing model—along with its opportunities and challenges—can help people better navigate their ageing adventure.

The Milky Way’s Central Molecular Zone (CMZ) differs dramatically from our local solar neighbourhood, both in the extreme interstellar medium conditions it exhibits (e.g. high gas, stellar, and feedback density) and in the strong dynamics at play (e.g. due to shear and gas influx along the bar). Consequently, it is likely that there are large-scale physical structures within the CMZ that cannot form elsewhere in the Milky Way. In this paper, we present new results from the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) large programme ACES (ALMA CMZ Exploration Survey) and conduct a multi-wavelength and kinematic analysis to determine the origin of the M0.8−0.2 ring, a molecular cloud with a distinct ring-like morphology. We estimate the projected inner and outer radii of the M0.8−0.2 ring to be 79′′ and 154′′, respectively (3.1 pc and 6.1 pc at an assumed Galactic Centre distance of 8.2 kpc) and calculate a mean gas density > 104 cm−3, a mass of ∼ 106 M☉, and an expansion speed of ∼ 20 km s−1, resulting in a high estimated kinetic energy (> 1051 erg) and momentum (> 107 M☉ km s−1). We discuss several possible causes for the existence and expansion of the structure, including stellar feedback and large-scale dynamics. We propose that the most likely cause of the M0.8−0.2 ring is a single high-energy hypernova explosion. To viably explain the observed morphology and kinematics, such an explosion would need to have taken place inside a dense, very massive molecular cloud, the remnants of which we now see as the M0.8−0.2 ring. 作者： BENNETT, RAWSON USN Chief of Naval Research THE AUTHOR was born on June 16 1905. in Chicago Illinois. He was appointed to the U. S. Naval Academy Annapolis. Maryland from California in 1923. Graduated and commissioned Ensign on June 2 1921 he subsequently advanced to the rank of Captain to date from March 20 1945. In December 1955 he was appointed Rear Admiral to date from January 3 1956. Following graduation in 1927 he joined the USS California flagship of the Battle Fleet. Later in 1928. he was assigned communication duty on the staff of Commander Battle Fleet serving as such until August 1930. In November of that year he reported on board the USS Isabel for duty on Asiatic Station and in October 1932 was transferred to the USS Rochester. He completed his Asiatic tour of duty in the USS Houston in 1933. Detached from this vessel he returned to the United States and joined the USS Idaho. After 7 years of sea duty he returned to Annapolis Maryland for postgraduate instruction in radio (electronic) engineering. He completed the course in May 1936 and was assigned to the University of California Berkeley for additional postgraduate work receiving the Master of Science degree in Electrical Engineering after which he reported aboard the USS Concord. Continuing sea duty he joined the staff of Commander Destroyer Division Nineteen (later redesignated Destroyer Fifty) in April 1938 and served as Radio and Sound Officer until June 1941. Starting in July 1939 he set up the technical program of the first fleet Sound School at San Diego California. In July 1941 he reported to the Bureau of Ships Navy Department Washington D.C. There he served first as Head of the Underwater Sound Design Section of the Radio Division and later Head of Electronics Design Division from 1943 to 1946. He was awarded the Legion of Merit “for exceptionally meritorious conduct” during this tour of duty. Upon leaving the Bureau of Ships in August 1946 he reported as Director of the U. S. Navy Electronics Laboratory Point Loma

The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all domains of human life, including the economic and social fabric of societies. One of the central strategies for managing public health throughout the pandemic has been through persuasive messaging and collective behaviour change. To help scholars better understand the social and moral psychology behind public health behaviour, we present a dataset comprising of 51,404 individuals from 69 countries. This dataset was collected for the International Collaboration on Social & Moral Psychology of COVID-19 project (ICSMP COVID-19). This social science survey invited participants around the world to complete a series of moral and psychological measures and public health attitudes about COVID-19 during an early phase of the COVID-19 pandemic (between April and June 2020). The survey included seven broad categories of questions: COVID-19 beliefs and compliance behaviours; identity and social attitudes; ideology; health and well-being; moral beliefs and motivation; personality traits; and demographic variables. We report both raw and cleaned data, along with all survey materials, data visualisations, and psychometric evaluations of key variables.
