The Himalayan water tower provides crucial water resources for *** degradation is deemed to exert important impacts on streamflow in the Himalayan ***,the magnitudes of such impacts remain poorly ***,we established a robust hydrological model that incorporated active layer deepening and ground ice melt for the drainage basin of the largest river in the northern Himalayas-the Yarlung Zangbo River(YZR).We estimated that permafrost degradation led to~0.65 km^(3)/yr decrease in surface runoff and~0.35 km^(3)/yr increase in baseflow and ground ice melt contributed~0.25% to the annual streamflow in the YZR for the period ***“fill-and-spill”mechanism helps explain the seeming contradiction of observed increasing versus decreasing baseflow in different permafrost regions *** propose that the dilution of riverine dissolved organic carbon(DOC)concentrations by baseflow may lead to the riverine DOC hysteresis *** study not only lays solid scientific basis for water resources management in the Himalayas,but also yields new insights into how to interpret measured river discharge and nutrient flux in permafrost regions over the globe.

During the COVID-19 coronavirus epidemic, people usually wear masks to prevent the spread of the virus, which has become a major obstacle when we use face-based computer vision techniques such as face recognition and face detection. So masked face inpainting technique is desired. Actually, the distribution of face features is strongly correlated with each other, but existing inpainting methods typically ignore the relationship between face feature distributions. To address this issue, in this paper, we first show that the face image inpainting task can be seen as a distribution alignment between face features in damaged and valid regions, and style transfer is a distribution alignment process. Based on this theory, we propose a novel face inpainting model considering the probability distribution between face features, namely Face Style Self-Transfer Network (FaST-Net). Through the proposed style self-transfer mechanism, FaST-Net can align the style distribution of features in the inpainting region with the style distribution of features in the valid region of a face. Ablation studies have validated the effectiveness of FaST-Net, and experimental results on two popular human face datasets (CelebA and VGGFace) exhibit its superior performance compared with existing state-of-the-art methods. © 2023 SPIE.

Active power ripple suppression serves as a promising solution to limit power ripples induced by three-phase gird voltage imbalances. These schemes, nonetheless, typically need to add supplementary power switches, resulting in increased costs. To alleviate the dilemma, a single-stage multi-port rectifier, which provides extra power control freedom for buffering power ripples with no extra power switches, is proposed in this article. Following that, an equivalent two-level model with a simple structure is employed to simplify the controller design for the rectifier. With the constructed two-level model, a zero-vector-placement-based power ripple suppression strategy is developed, which allows active power ripples induced by the unbalanced AC grid to be transferred into the ripple port of the rectifier. Finally, the experimental results based on a three-phase three-level multi-port rectifier system confirm the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

The development of effective vegetable sales strategies is crucial for enhancing supermarket profitability, and these strategies are heavily reliant on a nuanced understanding of the sales volume distribution patterns across different vegetable categories. However, most existing studies fail to thoroughly analyze these distribution patterns, often neglecting factors such as sales volume magnitude and fluctuations. To address this gap, we first propose a comprehensive framework based on a K-means++ clustering model and Spearman correlation coefficient to analyze the sales data. Firstly, we normalize the data to eliminate the impact of differing dimensions across vegetable categories. Next, we analyze the sales data from both quarterly and daily perspectives. Data visualization is performed utilizing line charts, followed by a descriptive analysis of the sales volume distribution considering both magnitude and fluctuation. Furthermore, we utilize a K-means++ clustering model and the Spearman correlation coefficient to further explore the distribution patterns and interrelationships among different vegetable categories. The results of the experiments reveal the daily and quarterly sales distribution patterns of various vegetable categories, providing valuable insights to support the development of effective vegetable sales strategies for supermarkets. © 2024 IEEE.

The single-stage multiport inverter (SSMI) is becoming more and more popular as an attractive solution for hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). By removing the dc-dc converter, there is an energy flow path between the multiple sources and the motor, which can reduce the power conversion stage and improve the integration of the inverter. However, there are some difficulties with the design of modulation strategies for SSMI, due to the highly coupled characteristics of multiple energy sources on the dc side and the heavy computational burden of the unevenly distributed space vector diagram. In addition, reducing switching losses and improving energy conversion efficiency is always the focus of SSMI. Given this, this paper proposed a reduced switching-count space vector modulation (SVM) scheme for the power flow control of SSMI. In the proposed SVM scheme, the SSMI is decoupled into two independent inverters to avoid burden computation under the unsymmetrical space vector diagram, and the total switching count is restricted to 3, which reduces the switching losses and improves the power conversion efficiency of the SSMI. Experimental results validate the effectiveness of our proposed scheme. © 2024 IEEE.

To train robust malicious traffic identification models under noisy labeled datasets, a number of learning with noise labels approaches have been introduced, among which parallel training methods have been proved to be effective. Parallel training methods tend to select samples with disagreement to mitigate the risk of self-control degradation. However, it also introduces noisy knowledge into training. In this letter, we try to avoid introducing noisy knowledge by enhancing the consistency of the representations of parallel networks. Meanwhile, the two networks are heterogeneous and introduce information from different modalities, thus mitigating the risk of self-control degradation from multiple perspectives. © 2019 IEEE.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD), the leading cause of death worldwide, has long been a focus of attention in the medical field. Hypertension, as the major trigger of CVD, often goes undetected due to the limitations of traditional blood pressure measurement methods, which may require invasive procedures or multiple sensors, making long-term wear impractical. Existing neural network-based single-sensor methods also suffer from issues such as insufficient data, low prediction accuracy, and imbalance in systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP/DBP) predictions. Addressing these concerns, this paper proposes a non-invasive continuous blood pressure estimation method based on the UNet-KAN neural network. The method builds upon UNet and designs an encoder-decoder structure tailored for one-dimensional photoplethysmography (PPG) signal processing. Separate decoder branches are created for SBP and DBP, with the SBP branch incorporating a Transformer feature extraction layer. Additionally, the method introduces the Kolmogorov-Arnold Network (KAN) with a nonlinear activation function and the Huber loss function to further enhance model performance and robustness. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves good prediction accuracy on large datasets with both subject-specific and subject-mixed segmentation methods, effectively addressing the imbalance in SBP and DBP prediction accuracy. Passive daytime radiative cooling(PDRC)technology is emerging as one of the most promising solutions to the global problem of spacing cooling,but its practical application is limited due to reduced cooling effectiveness caused by daily wear and tear,as well as dirt *** tackle this problem,we report a novel strategy by introducing a renewable armor structure for prolonging the anti-fouling and cooling effectiveness properties of the PDRC *** armor structure is designed by decorating fluorinated hollow glass microspheres(HGM)inside rigid resin composite *** HGM serve triple purposes,including providing isolated cavities for enhanced solar reflectance,reinforcing the matrices to form robust armored structures,and increasing thermal *** the coatings are worn,the HGM on the surface expose their concave cavities with numerous hydrophobic fragments,generating a highly rough surface that guarantee the superhydrophobic *** coatings show a high sunlight reflectance(0.93)and thermal emittance(0.94)in the long-wave infrared window,leading to a cooling of 5℃ below ambient temperature under high solar flux(∼900 W/m^(2)).When anti-fouling functions are reduced,they can be regenerated more than 100 cycles without compromising the PDRC function by simple wearing ***,these coatings can be easily prepared using a one-pot spray method with low-cost materials,exhibit strong adhesion to a variety of substrates,and demonstrate exceptional environmental ***,we anticipate their immediate application opportunities for spacing cooling.
