This research paper focuses on the application of the proposed convolutional neural network (CNN) for histopathologic cancer detection, specifically targeting lymph node scans. Histopathologic cancer detection plays a crucial role in early diagnosis, and timely identification of metastatic tissues in lymph nodes is imperative for effective intervention and improved patient outcomes. The proposed methodology employs a deep learning model with a Sequential architecture, utilizing three sets of convolutional layers with increasing filter sizes, max-pooling layers, and dropout regularization to prevent overfitting. The model is practiced and checked on a smaller part of the PCam dataset. There are 220,025 images used for training and 57,468 images used for testing. These images were taken with a 10x zoom to see a larger area. The CNN model was tested and found to be really accurate at 92.72%. This shows that it can tell the difference between tumor and non-tumor classes really well. The research shows how important it is to use deep learning to help find cancer in tissue samples. It emphasizes how this can help diagnose and treat cancer early. The study also shows that the model used is good at accurately identifying different types of cancer. This research helps improve how we find cancer by using new technology that can make analysing tissue samples faster and better.

Content Placement (CP) problem in Cloud-based Content Delivery Networks (CCDNs) leverage resource elasticity to build cost effective CDNs that guarantee QoS. In this paper, we present our novel CP model, which optimally places content on surrogates in the cloud, to achieve (a) minimum cost of leasing storage and bandwidth resources for data coming into and going out of the cloud zones and regions, (b) guarantee Service Level Agreement (SLA), and (c) minimize degree of QoS violations. The CP problem is NP-Hard, hence we design a unique push-based heuristic, called Weighted Social Network Analysis (W-SNA) for CCDN providers. W-SNA is based on Betweeness Centrality (BC) from SNA and prioritizes surrogates based on their relationship to the other vertices in the network graph. To achieve our unique objectives, we further prioritize surrogates based on weights derived from storage cost and content requests. We compare our heuristic to current state-of-the-art Greedy Site (GS) and purely Social Network Analysis (SNA) heuristics, which are relevant to our work. We show that W-SNA outperforms GS and SNA in minimizing cost and QoS. Moreover, W-SNA guarantees SLA but also minimizes the degree of QoS violations. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first model and heuristic of its kind, which is timely and gives a fundamental pre-allocation scheme for future online and dynamic resource provision for CCDNs.

The role of empathy has come to prominence in HCI as the community increasingly engages with issues in medical, health and emotionally charged contexts. In such settings empathizing with others is crucial in understanding the experience of living with specific conditions, or in being sensitive to the concerns and emotions of potentially vulnerable participants. Researchers in these areas become implicated in designing new tools and technologies that support empathic relations. This workshop therefore aims to build an interdisciplinary community of researchers, designers and practitioners to share and discuss their work and the challenges they encountered when establishing empathic relationships within health or care contexts. We will work towards developing a richer conceptual and practical understanding of empathic engagement and design methods in this context to support and shape an agenda for future research.

For these models, the maximum likelihood equations can be expressed in terms of a single equation in one unknown. Bounds are given on solutions to these single equations problems to serve as initial intervals for search algorithms like bisection. Uniqueness of the solutions is established in some cases. This paper discusses a technique which shows how to integrate formal description techniques (FDTs) with specification & design methods such as OMT so that we can have new methods to support writing formal specifications. The integration mechanism is based on transformation rules of specification document produced following methods into the descriptions written in FDTs. The transformation rules specify the correspondences on two meta models; the method meta models and the FDT meta model, and are described as graph rewriting rules. As an example, we pick up OMT as a method and LOTOS as a FDT and define the transformation rule on their meta models.

We present a metadata approach to identify and (automatically) derive the context of learning environments as a basis for adaptation.
