Control Strategy for Generalized Synchrony in Coupled Dynamical Systems

Dynamical systems can be coupled in a manner that is designed to drive the resulting dynamics onto a specified lower dimensional submanifold in the phase space of the combined system. On the submanifold, the variables of the two systems have a well-defined unique functional relationship. This process can thus be viewed as a control technique that ensures generalized synchronization. Depending on the nature of the dynamical systems and the specified submanifold, different coupling functions can be derived in order to achieve a desired control objective. We discuss the circuit implementations of this strategy in representative examples of coupled chaotic dynamical systems, namely Lorenz oscillators. © 2025, CC BY-NC-ND.

Topological magnetic solitons, such as skyrmions, exhibit intriguing particle-like properties that make them attractive for fundamental research and practical applications. While many magnetic systems can host skyrmions as statically stable configurations, chiral magnets stand out for their ability to accommodate a wide diversity of skyrmions with arbitrary topological charges and varied morphologies. Despite extensive investigation, a complete understanding of chiral magnetic skyrmions has remained elusive. We present a classification of all chiral skyrmions, demonstrating three classes based on their response to external magnetic field pulses: stationary, translating, and rotating. We highlight the role of magnetic texture symmetry in this classification. Skyrmions with varied dynamics offer avenues for exploring phenomena like skyrmion-skyrmion scattering that might be crucial for future applications. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. We provide a new method for constructing the anisotropic relaxation tensor and proving its exponential decay property for the extended Burgers model (abbreviated by EBM). The EBM is an important viscoelasticity model in rheology, and used in Earth and planetary sciences. Upon having this tensor, the EBM can be converted to a Boltzmann-type viscoelastic system of equations (abbreviated by BVS). Historically, the relaxation tensor for the EBM is derived by solving the constitutive equation using the Laplace transform. (We refer to this approach by the L-method.) Since inverting the inverse Laplace transform needs a partial fractions expansion, the L-method needs to assume that the EBM elasticity tensors satisfy a commutivity condition. The new method not only avoids this condition but also enables obtaining several important properties of the relaxation tensor, including its positivity, smoothness with respect to the time variable, its exponential decay property together with its derivative, and its causality. Furthermore, we show that the BVS converted from the EBM has the exponential decay property. That is, any solution for its initial boundary value problem with homogeneous boundary data and source decays exponentially as time tends to infinity. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. We have investigated the hot electron generation from TPD instability driven by broadband laser pulses with intensity modulations, which is common in the theoretical waveforms of current and future broadband laser facilities. Using a basic two-color scheme in 2D PIC simulations, our investigation has unveiled that TPD modes energy and resulting hot electron energy ratio fhot oscillate at the modulation frequency ∆ωm when ∆ωm is at the same order as the TPD growth rate γ0. If ∆ωm falls below a threshold frequency ∆ωc, such oscillation results in overall fhot anomalously exceeding the hot electron energy ratio f0 for a single-color pump. We also characterize the dependence of ∆ωc and laser plasma conditions, and we provide a scaling relation to evaluate fhot / f0 for different laser bandwidth ∆ω. © 2024 50th EPS Conference on Plasma Physics, EPS 2024. We propose a laboratory accelerated test method for study of the atmospheric neutron radiation effects by using a compact laser-driven spallation neutron source (LDSNS). The LDSNS is obtained by injecting a GeV quasimonoenergetic proton beam accelerated by light-sail (LS) radiation pressure of intense lasers into a lead target. According to the LS scaling law, proton energy spectra can be regulated by adjusting the laser and foil target parameters, so that the neutron spectra at various atmospheric altitudes are well reproduced. Integrated PIC and MC simulations have verified the scheme (for that at altitude 12 km, laser intensity of 1022W/cm2 is required) and shown that the neutron fluence per laser shot is as high as 1.73×108n/cm2, equivalent to 3.7 year flux accumulation in atmosphere. Using the G4SEE toolkit, we estimate that the HM628128 SRAM may undergo an average of ten single event upsets per shot for the proposed laboratory test.

A digital transformation is necessary for agriculture to achieve sustainability and increase productivity. With the use of IoT, high-tech detectors and helicopters can monitor crop health and environmental factors in real time, transmitting crucial data to cloud-based systems. Due to their robust computational and storage capabilities, these systems are capable of handling large datasets and carrying out intricate data analytics. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic, the world’s food supply was precariously balanced and insufficient. The present agricultural system prioritizes short-term gains above the preservation of the earth and its ecosystems. To construct agricultural systems that can meet the needs of ten billion individuals in the next 30 years, significant structural and automated changes are required. However, with the support of intelligent technology and the progress of artificial intelligence in agriculture, these obstacles might be overcome. Integration of data, processing images, and neural networks are examples of artificial intelligence technologies that have allowed producers to make better choices using up-to-date information and prediction models. The study emphasizes the need to address the ethical and practical concerns associated with climate-based AI in agriculture to promote its equitable deployment. The results of this research contribute to the ongoing debate about artificial intelligence’s possible applications in farming. New agricultural technologies provide optimism for a future that is environmentally friendly and will be able to feed the growing global population. The integration of renewable energy sources is one of the areas where artificial intelligence is seen to be able to assist in reaching global sustainability goals. We consider semi-classical time evolution for the phase space Schrödinger equation and present two methods of constructing short time asymptotic solutions. The first method consists of constructing a semi-classical phase space propagator in terms of semi-classical Gaussian wave packets on the basis of the Anisotropic Gaussian Approximation, related to the Nearby Orbit Approximation, by which we derive an asymptotic solution for configuration space WKB initial data. The second method consists of constructing a phase space narrow beam asymptotic solution, following the Complex WKB Theory developed by Maslov, on the basis of a canonical system in double phase space related to the Berezin-Shubin-Marinov Hamilton-Jacobi and transport equations.
