Iterative evaluation matching algorithm for geomagnetic navigation

Basic algorithms for geomagnetic matching have bad real-time performance in data batch processing, and these basic algorithms have to specify the length of matching sequence data in advance. To solve these two problems, the iterative evaluation matching algorithm (IEMA) is presented for geomagnetic navigation. IEMA learns from the iterative idea, which makes the calculation time distribute in each sampling time and IEMA uses real-time evaluation, which can determine whether to output the matching positioning results after one iterative solution. Results show that IEMA is effective and reliable in geomagnetic navigation, and it can adjust the length of matching sequence data adaptively.

For a class of uncertain multi-input-multi-output (MIMO) discrete-time nonlinear systems with strong coupling and unstable zero-dynamics, an adaptive generalized predictive decoupling switching control method based on unmodeled dynamic compensation is proposed. It is only required that the higher order nonlinear terms of the system to satisfy a linear growth condition, rather than the global boundedness condition widely used. The analysis of stability and convergence of the adaptive control method are performed. Moreover, in designing the nonlinear generalized predictive decoupling controller, we combine the adaptive-network-based fuzzy inference system (ANFIS) training with the "one-toone mapping" technique to adaptively estimate the unmodeled dynamics, so that the universal approximation property of ANFIS can be guaranteed. Finally, simulation results demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method and validate the theoretical analysis.

Model Based Optimisation of a Step in Acceleration for a CR-Diesel Engine

Abstract Due to more and more stringent emission regulations the optimisation of transient engine operation becomes necessary for future Diesel engine developments. Exemplary for the transient operation a step in acceleration pedal is investigated and optimised with respect to the engine emissions. This gives insights about the emission formation at transient driving and a benchmark for the design of open and closed-loop controls. A model structure to simulate the engine emissions and the engine torque is presented. It consists of a dynamical mean value air path model and a stationary combustion model. Thus the relevant outputs NO x , soot and torque are simulated with respect to the engine actuators. For optimisation the calibrated emission values for steady state are regarded. The actuators of the air path and the crank angle of the main injection are optimised such that the emissions follow a desired trajectory. The results are compared to a non-optimised step in acceleration and to a nonlinear closed loop control of the air path.

Emission Model Structures for an Implementation on Engine control Units

Abstract The number of model-based approaches in modern engine control units (ECUs) increases permanently with the increase of engine complexity. Therefore the efficient storage and the fast computation of these models is a challenging task. Due to their fast computation properties most ECUs utilize 2-dimensional grid map structures. Higher dimensional relations need then to be mapped with nested structures of several 2-dimensional grid maps. The determination of suited structures is a time-consuming task and the number of utilized 2-dimensional grid maps may be large for higher dimensional relations. Therefore in the following a grid map structure, a LOLIMOT structure, a Kernel method and an adaptive polynomial approach are compared with respect to model accuracy, computation time and required memory. Conclusions about the implementation on state of the art ECUs are given. As model output the NO x emissions of a DTH Z19 Opel CR-Diesel engine with VGT-turbocharger and exhaust gas recirculation are regarded. Model structures are presented for a global model approach comprising the engine operation point as input, and for a global-local approach predicting the output by weighting local models.

The problem of receding horizon predictive control of stochastic linear parameter varying systems is discussed. First, constant coefficient matrices are obtained at each vertex in the interior of linear parameter varying system, and then, by considering semi-definite programming constraints, weight coefficients between each vertex are calculated, and the equal coefficients matrices for the time variable system are obtained. Second, in the given receding horizon, for each mode sequence of the stochastic convex polyhedron linear parameter varying systems, the optimal control input sequences are designed in order to make the states into a terminal invariant set. Outside of the receding horizon, stability of the system is guaranteed by searching a state feedback control law. Finally, receding horizon predictive controller is designed in terms of linear matrix inequality for such system. Simulation example shows the validity of this method.

In this paper, we propose a method for designing continuous gain-scheduled robust H_∞ observer on a class of extended stochastic nonlinear systems subject to time delay and actuator saturation. Initially, gradient linearization procedure is applied to describe such extended nonlinear systems into several model-based linear systems. Next, a robust linear H_∞ observer is designed to such linear stochastic models. Subsequently, a convex hull set is investigated and sufficient condition is derived in terms of feedback observer to determine whether a given initial condition belongs to an ellipsoid invariant set. Finally, continuous gain-scheduled approach is employed to design continuous nonlinear observers on the entire extended nonlinear jump system. A simulation example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of developed techniques.

Abstract This paper presents fault detection, fault diagnosis, the fault-tolerant control of an electro-hydraulic servo axes with a duplex-valve-system. The fault detection is based on parity equations and is load independent. The semi-physical models allow the detection of even small faults in the hydraulic system. The fault diagnosis used at the testbed is based on fuzzy-logic. In order to tolerate a faulty hydraulic proportional valve, a duplex-valve-system built up with standard proportional valves is applied. The fault management module allows the supervision of the hydraulic servo axes and decides on the reconfiguration of the control-loop. An Internal Model control (IMC)-tracking control structure for bumpless transfer between controllers is presented. Experimental results show the industrial applicability of the approach.

This note is concerned with the H∞ decentralized control for a class of uncertain neutral interconnected systems via dynamic output feedback. In the frame of Lyapunov stability theory, in view of the nonlinearity on certain matrix variables, a mathematical technique is developed to obtain a criterion in terms of linear matrix inequalities for the existence of the anticipated controller. The parameterized characterization of the controller is achieved by solving some algebraic equations and LMIs. Besides, the norm of the transfer function from the disturbance input to the controlled output is less than the given index. A numerical example is included to illustrate effectiveness of the proposed method. © 2011 IEEE.

Earlier investigations show that the results of hazard identification (HAZID) and analysis (e.g. HAZOP or FMEA) can effectively be used for knowledge-based diagnosis of complex process systems in their steady-state operation. In order to extend this approach for transient operating conditions controlled by operating procedures, the notion of nominal input-output event sequences of qualitative signals has been introduced, and the deviations used in the procedure HAZID analysis have been defined therefrom. The diagnosis can then be performed algorithmically by matching the deviation sequences of the observed input-output event sequences and the nominal ones generated by qualitative dynamic models. The concepts and methods are illustrated using a simple case study consisting of a simple tank, controlled by an operating procedure. © 2011 Springer-Verlag.

The decentralized stabilization problem for a class of uncertain large-scale interconnected systems with discrete and distributed time-delays is investigated. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, a novel Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional is constructed to reduce conservatism of the criterion in form of LMIs. To this end, some mathematical techniques are utilized flexibly. Especially, the exchange of the order of repeated integral is required. The decentralized control scheme is the general state feedback. Finally, a numerical example is given to demonstrate the validity of the results. © 2011 IEEE.
