In the (bio)chemical processes, traditional hardware sensors are difficult to directly measure the quality of critical products due to their time-varying, non-linear, and dynamic characteristics. This makes process soft sensor modeling methods important. Since the process variables can be regarded as natural graph data, this work introduces graphs in the soft sensor modeling area. A soft sensor model based on the graph neural network (GNN) is proposed. The model can learn the topological structure of graph data between each unit variable. Moreover, it characterizes variable relationships from the spatial and temporal dimensions to the output prediction by introducing the spatial-temporal convolutional layer. The effectiveness and advantages of the GNN-based soft sensor model are verified using a simulated fermentation process. © 2021 IEEE.

Distributed Optimization by Network Flows with Spatio-Temporal Compression

Several data compressors have been proposed in distributed optimization frameworks of network systems to reduce communication overhead in large-scale applications. In this paper, we demonstrate that effective information compression may occur over time or space during sequences of node communications in distributed algorithms, leading to the concept of spatio-temporal compressors. This abstraction classifies existing compressors as spatio-temporal compressors, with their effectiveness described by constructive stability criteria from nonlinear system theory. Subsequently, we apply these spatio-temporal compressors to standard continuous-time consensus flows and distributed prime-dual flows, establishing conditions ensuring convergence. Additionally, we introduce a novel observer-based distributed primal-dual continuous flow integrated with spatio-temporal compressors, which provides broader convergence conditions. These continuous flows achieve exponential convergence to the global optimum when the objective function is strongly convex and can be discretized using Euler approximations. Finally, numerical simulations illustrate the versatility of the proposed spatio-temporal compressors and verify the convergence of algorithms. Copyright © 2024, The Authors. All rights reserved.

Reduced Network Cumulative Constraint Violation for Distributed Bandit Convex Optimization under Slater’s Condition

This paper studies the distributed bandit convex optimization problem with time-varying inequality constraints, where the goal is to minimize network regret and cumulative constraint violation. To calculate network cumulative constraint violation, existing distributed bandit online algorithms solving this problem directly use the clipped constraint function to replace its original constraint function. However, the use of the clipping operation renders Slater’s condition (i.e, there exists a point that strictly satisfies the inequality constraints at all iterations) ineffective to achieve reduced network cumulative constraint violation. To tackle this challenge, we propose a new distributed bandit online primal–dual algorithm. If local loss functions are convex, we show that the proposed algorithm establishes an O(T max{c,1−c})network regret bound and an O(T 1−c/2) network cumulative constraint violation bound, where T is the total number of iterations and c ∈ (0, 1) is a user-defined trade-off parameter. When Slater’s condition holds, the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(T 1−c). In addition, if local loss functions are strongly convex, for the case where strongly convex parameters are unknown, the network regret bound is reduced to O(T1−c), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is O(T1−c/2) and O(T1−c) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. For the case where strongly convex parameters are known, the network regret bound is further reduced to O)(log(T)), and the network cumulative constraint violation bound is reduced to O(log(T)T) and O(log(T)) without and with Slater’s condition, respectively. To the best of our knowledge, this paper is among the first to establish reduced (network) cumulative constraint violation bounds for (distributed) bandit convex optimization with time-varying constraints under Slater’s condition. In this paper, a fault detection and isolation scheme for multiplicative faults in dynamic systems based on data-driven K-Gap metric and k-nearest neighbour (kNN) classification is proposed. To detect multiplicative faults, the standard classification task of kNN is studied from the viewpoint of system analysis. To this end, the data-driven stable kernel representation based on input/output data is presented for feature extraction capturing the dynamic of linear time-invariant (LTI) systems. Data-driven K-Gap metric is used as an alternative tool for distance measure between two kernel subspaces in the kNN algorithm. A simulation example on the three-tank system (DTS200) demonstrates the successful detection and isolation of various multiplicative faults

A Weighted Collaborative Prediction Method of RUL for Integrated Circuits in Multi-Failure Modes Based on Transformer

Accurately predicting the Remaining Useful Life (RUL) of integrated circuits in multi-failure modes is critical for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of electronic devices. In this paper, we propose a novel RUL prediction method that combines a locally weighted regression method, a Transformer deep neural network, and a multi-failure modes weighted collaborative prediction approach. We first use a locally weighted regression method to eliminate noise from the original feature time series. Then, the feature time series is input into the proposed classification model to classify the failure modes and establish the failure mode weighted function. Finally, the feature time series is fed into the proposed regression model for RUL prediction with weighted processing to obtain accurate RUL predictions. Our experimental results demonstrate that our method effectively captures the degradation information of integrated circuits and generates precise RUL predictions. We demonstrate the efficacy of our method on a circuit stimulation model, showing that it outperforms several state-of-the-art RUL prediction methods. Our proposed method has the potential to enhance the reliability and safety of electronic devices in various applications.

This paper investigates the problem of designing robust iterative learning control laws for discrete-time batch processes with norm-bounded parameter uncertainties. A law of proportional-differential type is designed to achieve robust convergence of the tracking error in the batch-to-batch direction. It is shown that the design problem can be written as a two-dimensional system. Then, the recently developed non-conservative conditions for (structural) stability analysis for a linear Roesser model are used. The conditions for the existence and computation of the required control law matrices are linear matrix inequality-based. Finally, comparative simulation results show the effectiveness of the new design.

This paper aims at eliminating the asymmetric and saturated hysteresis nonlinearities by designing hysteresis pseudo inverse compensator and robust adaptive dynamic surface control(DSC)***"pseudo inverse"means that an on-line calculation mechanism of approximate control signal is developed by applying a searching method to the designed temporary control signal where the true control signal is *** main contributions are summarized as:1)to our best knowledge,it is the first time to compensate the asymmetric and saturated hysteresis by using hysteresis pseudo inverse compensator because the construction of the true saturated-type hysteresis inverse model is very difficult;2)by designing the saturated-type hysteresis pseudo inverse compensator,the construction of true explicit hysteresis inverse and the identifications of its corresponding unknown parameters are not required when dealing with the saturated-type hysteresis;3)by combining DSC technique with the tracking error transformed function,the"explosion of complexity"problem in backstepping method is overcome and the prespecified tracking performance is *** of stability and experimental results on the hardware-inloop platform illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed adaptive pseudo inverse control scheme.

Asymptotic Trajectory Tracking of Stratospheric Airships Based on RISE controllers Under External Uncertainties

For a stratospheric airship under internal and external uncertainties, controller strategies with robust integral sign of the error (RISE) are proposed for asymptotic trajectory tracking control. Specifically, a fully connected neural network (FCNN) is constructed with adaptive weight updating to estimate internal uncertainties of the airship system. Then, a self-tuning RISE controller is designed to track trajectories with compensating external disturbance, which enables gain adjustment in realtime according to system feedback. Based on Lyapunov technique and LaSalle-Yoshizawa corollary extension, system stability is strictly analyzed, and asymptotic convergence performance is obtained for trajectory tracking by the designed controller. Moreover, a RISE controller is designed with fixed gain matrices for the airship based on classic control strategies, and asymptotic tracking is also proved. Finally, numerical simulations are conducted with spiral and hovering control to verify performance of the proposed strategies. © 1965-2011 IEEE.

Path planning algorithms are current research hotspots. Heuristic algorithms that can solve dynamic environment problems are gradually becoming the mainstream research direction. The D* algorithm, as one of the new heuristic algorithms, has the advantages of being more computationally efficient than the A * algorithm and being able to solve dynamic problems, and has played an important role in two-dimensional path planning projects such as the NASA Mars rover. But its theoretical research and practical application in 3D environment are very rare. In this context, this paper carries out an in-depth study of the path planning problem based on the D* algorithm, and completes the theoretical derivation and simulation process in 2D and 3D environments. In this paper, a complex random 2D map is established by random generation, and the simulation of D* algorithm is realized on the map with the help of Python language, which realizes the finding of the relative optimal path. Then, in order to study the feasibility of D* solving in 3D environment, the simulation of D* algorithm under 3D map is realized with the help of Python and Unity3d. The research results show that the simulation results are good, which is valuable for the theoretical research and practical application of heuristic algorithms, and plays a role in the application of robot path planning algorithms.
