Cardiovascular diseases (CVD) are the leading cause of death in most countries around the world, making the accurate assessment of risks and the selection of individual preventive strategies a current focus in healthcare. In this article, the authors presented a prototype of a Clinical Decision Support System (CDSS) for predicting and preventing cardiovascular risks based on a hybrid architecture that integrates machine learning models and ontological knowledge bases. A microservice architecture based on the Cloud-Edge approach is proposed for optimizing computational resources when processing tabular data, signals, video, and images, as well as for enhancing the effectiveness of integration with various Healthcare Information Systems (HIS). The CDSS supports the formalization not only of medical history data and results of studies but also the rules for interpreting the results of predictions based on machine learning models and methods of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). The developed CDSS includes widely used tools in clinical cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery for risk assessment, as well as proprietary machine learning models for predicting in-hospital mortality, and others. These models contribute to making informed medical decisions for the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of CVD. The prototype was implemented at the Medical Center of the Far Eastern Federal University and integrated with the "1C" HIS. The experience of implementing the prototype demonstrated the high potential of hybrid CDSS based on microservice architecture for use in clinical practice. © 2024 SPIE. All rights reserved.

The modern challenge to artificial intelligence systems is to reduce the complexity of their development and maintenance during the life cycle, as well as the explanation of the solutions obtained. The paper shows that the ontological infrastructure that provides the creation and control of all components of systems with knowledge bases, can successfully ensure the fulfillment of these requirements. The paper describes approaches to solving the problem of controllability of this class of systems and, above all, the component most susceptible to changes - the knowledge base, describes an approach to the formation of ontological solvers from reusable components with the explanations generation. The proposed technology and its instrumental support are implemented on the IACPaaS platform, and a number of application systems for various domains have been developed using it. © 2021 IEEE.

The parameters of facial blood supply were studied in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic scleroderma using a non-contact imaging photoplethysmography method synchronized with an electrocardiogram. Statistically significant differences in the amplitude and time of arrival of the pulse wave to different areas of the face were revealed in sick patients compared with the control group. © 2024 IEEE.

Dense single-atomic 14×3-reconstructed Pb layer on Si(111): Structural and superconducting properties

A highly ordered, Pb-dense 14×3-Pb overlayer was grown on Si(111) using the two-step procedure with formation of the 7×3−Pb surface [displaying the 1×1 structure at room temperature (RT)] at the first step and RT deposition of additional Pb at the second step until formation of the 14×3−Pb phase with 1.286 monolayers of Pb is completed. The single-domain orientation of the 14×3−Pb layer persists along the entire surface of the terraces which are typically as wide as dozens of nanometers and in the selected areas might exceed a hundred nanometers. The 14×3−Pb phase hosts the superconductivity with the critical temperature Tc=2.08 K which exceeds all ever reported values for the single-atom Pb layers on Si(111).

Optical fibers sensors have various advantages for precise measurements of wide spectra of parameters. Currently, the deep-learning usage enhances the morphological analysis of the specklegram images. In this study, the design of the full-length optical fiber integration with firm pigtails fixation was used. The Siamese neural network with four convolutional and two fullyconnected layers per each tower was built for assessment of the deformation. The non-loaded specimen specklegram as the first input and image of the specklegram at the loaded state as the second input were used. The accuracy of the trained network with three sets of hyperparameters ranged from 77% to 82.8%. © 2024 IEEE.

One of the most common types of cancer in the world is lung cancer, which is a cause of increasing mortality. It is most often discovered in the middle and later stages as it does not have obvious symptoms due to which its treatment is often missed. Studies show that most lung cancers are in the form of lung nodules, which can be categorized as benign or malignant. Thus, accurate early identification of malignant lung nodules that might later become cancerous is essential for the prevention of lung cancer. Computed Tomography (CT) images can be useful for identifying and segmenting these nodules. In this paper, we propose an ensemble model, called BUS-UNet++, to segment lung nodules using CT images. We use a combination of the ConvLSTM up-sampling architecture from BUS-UNet and skip connections in aggregation blocks from the UNet++ model to build the BUS-UNet++ ensemble. The dataset for this study is collected from the Lung Image Database Consortium Image Database Resource Initiative (LIDC-IDRI), where we have selected the modality of these images as CT images. These are further preprocessed to obtain nodule masks and nodule images, which constitute the Region of Interest (RoI). The accuracy achieved with the Adam Optimizer is 0.9731, the Intersection over Union (IoU) of about 0.8439, and the dice score coefficient (DSC) of about 0.958 are obtained by the proposed system. This ensemble model outperforms several state-of-the-art models used for the same purpose. © 2023, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.

Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters were assessed for three Zea mays cv. grown under polarized light. It is shown that there was no stress in groups grown under polarized radiation. The greater values of photosynthetic parameters were observed in Early ripening gourmet 121 and Golden Batam cv. grown under polarized light in comparison with plants grown under non-polarized treatment.

The paper describes a cloud-based ontological framework for designing hybrid cloud software systems and services for predicting patient conditions and assessing the risk of critical conditions and events. The proposed solution is based on integrated semantic models for the formation of knowledge, documents, hypotheses and reasoned decisions in medicine. These complexes combine several types of sources for the formation of knowledge bases and various methods and approaches to solving such problems (mathematical modeling, machine learning, and knowledge engineering). For a group of diseases or a section of medicine, knowledge bases are formed about diseases that have passed the verification procedure or that doctors are ready to trust a priori. The means of declarative description of the rules of interpretation of knowledge about the dynamics of the development of diseases and numerical values from predictive models are provided.

The paper presents a comparative study of various ways of specifying program movements for mechatronic objects (MO) along complex spatial trajectories defined by parametric Bezier splines, B-splines and third-order Catmull-Rom splines. An expression is obtained to describe the dependence of the rate of change of the parameter setting the desired position of the MO with the program speed of its movement, taking into account information about the type of trajectory. As a result, using this expression, which is universal for all the specified parametric splines of the third order, it is ensured that the MO moves along the trajectory exactly at a given speed while simultaneously changing its orientation as desired. The application of the methods considered in this paper does not require complex iterative calculations and allows one to perform all the necessary calculations in real time, even on low-power on-board computers of various robots and robotic complexes. Numerical modeling was carried out to analyze the features of the use of these splines in solving practical problems. © 2022 IEEE.

The paper considers the development of a method for approaching an autonomous vehicle to a moving object. Approaching to objects may be necessary in various fields, for example, when landing an unmanned aircraft on a moving platform, animals and marine wildlife photo and videorecording, following the leader in group control, etc. It is assumed that the coordinates of the object are obtained without delay, however, at some points in time, position data is not received, that is, the trajectory of the object is represented by several separate segments of the trajectory. The paper proposes to use a combination of two classical guidance methods to approach the object. This eliminates the disadvantages of both methods and increases the overall efficiency of movement to the object. The pursuit method is used at short distances between the controlled vehicle and the object. The proportional approach method is used at long distances. A comparison of the simulation results on the generated data of the developed algorithm with the results obtained using only classical methods confirms the efficiency of simultaneous use of two guidance methods. © 2024 IEEE.
