Consensus problem under event-triggered mechanism is investigated for a heterogeneous first-order multi-agent system,in which agents are modeled by single integrator with distinct nominal velocities.A leader-following adaptive consensus algorithm is proposed,and the agents' states are only updated at discrete event instants computed from an event-triggering function in a centralized *** constructing Lyapunov function,sufficient conditions are obtained for the agents converging to an asymptotic consensus under undirected and symmetric topology,and a lower inter-event interval bounded by a strictly positive constant is provided to avoid the Zeno-behavior.A numerical simulation example is presented to validate the proposed control strategy.

In this paper, an extended Luenberger observer for a class of semilinear hyperbolic PIDEs is proposed to solve the problem of state estimation. The nonlinear observer error dynamics is linearized and then stabilized locally by applying the backstepping method for time-varying linear hyperbolic PIDEs presented recently. Since the resulting kernel equation is computationally quite expensive, a numerical algorithm is proposed to obtain the solution in an efficient way. Finally, this algorithm is applied to an example with multiple equilibrium points, and the influence of the design parameters on the stability is investigated in more detail. © 2016

Model Predictive control (MPC) is an advanced strategy for the control of multi-variable and constrained dynamical systems. Tube-based MPC is a robust control technique that handles uncertainties present in the model. Since full state information is seldom available in practical systems, the estimation error must also be taken into account in addition to model uncertainties to achieve closed-loop stability and constraint satisfaction despite estimation and model errors. In this paper, we propose a novel strategy for the design of a tube-based output feedback MPC which is independent of the estimation method employed. We formulate a control policy by choosing a candidate estimate that is consistent with the reachable sets of the system under control. The proposed method can be combined with any estimation scheme as long as the assumed error bounds are satisfied. We show that the proposed method is recursively feasible, robustly exponentially stable, and performs better than other available strategies.

Lyapunov Equation Based Stability Mapping Approach: A MIMO Case Study

In this study, a Lyapunov Equation based stability mapping approach is proposed for MIMO systems in order to determine stability regions. Since the proposed approach is independent of the controller type and the number of the control variables, it is also applicable for SISO systems. In standard Lyapunov Equation approach, the designer should solve 2n equations to calculate the stabilizing parameter sets. However, it is necessary and sufficient to solve at most two equations in order to determine the stability boundaries in the proposed approach. Moreover, frequency sweeping that is required in most of the frequency domain based approaches is omitted in this approach since the stability problem is defined in the time domain. Several case studies are discussed within the scope of this study to verify the effectiveness of the derived theoretical results. © 2016

In a Brazilian Air Force test cell, units of J85-21C turbojet engine are subjected to acceptation tests through a system in which analog instruments are arranged on a bench for acquisition and evaluation of test data. Although this system meets the test specifications in terms of instrumentation, its analog aspect not only constrains the resources and capabilities available to test bench but also challenges the development of any extensions or modifications in the test setup. This paper describes the development and implementation of a data acquisition system using LabVIEW programming and the PCI Extensions for Instrumentation (PXI) platform to redefine the system characteristics. In it, desired requirements such as scalability, flexibility, reliability and determinism found in modern test cell instrumentation are applied, discussed and sustained covering hardware and software specifications, architectures and communications processes. In addition, the general aspects of software development that have resulted in a programming effort to obtain a in-house software application for the J85-21C engine test are discussed and demonstrated in the course of the paper. © 2017, American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. This paper deals with the control of simple process models where multiple time-delays appear. These delays can be input, output or state delays. For the case of input/output time-delays, a general solution is retrieved from the *** state time-delays, the scalar case is considered and a precompensator is used to cancel the delay. The proposed algorithms are applied to the control of a simple academic example.

The spectral element method as an efficient tool for transient simulations of hydraulic systems

This paper presents transient numerical simulations of hydraulic systems in engineering applications using the spectral element method (SEM). Along with a detailed description of the underlying numerical method, it is shown that the SEM yields highly accurate numerical approximations at modest computational costs, which is in particular useful for optimization-based control applications. In order to enable fast explicit time stepping methods, the boundary conditions are imposed weakly using a numerically stable upwind discretization. The benefits of the SEM in the area of hydraulic system simulations are demonstrated in various examples including several simulations of strong water hammer effects. Due to its exceptional convergence characteristics, the SEM is particularly well suited to be used in real-time capable control applications. As an example, it is shown that the time evolution of pressure waves in a large scale pumped-storage power plant can be well approximated using a low-dimensional system representation utilizing a minimum number of dynamical states. Blade Shape Optimization of Liquid Turbine Flow Sensor

Based on the characteristic curve analysis, the method using D(K^2) square difference of meter factor at different flow rates was developed to evaluate the performance of turbine flow sensor in this study. Then according to the distribution of entrance velocity, it was supposed that reducing the blade area near the tip could decrease the linearity error of a sensor. Therefore, the influence of different blade shape parameters on the performance of the sensor was investigated by combining computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulation with experimental test. The experimental results showed that, for the liquid turbine flow sensor with a diameter of 10 mm, the linearity error was smallest, and the performance of sensor was optimal when blade shape parameter equaled 0.25.

Actual trends, such as highly volatile markets and shorter product lifecycles, in the process industries require new approaches for the control of process plants. These changes are tackled by the approach of modular process plants. Modular process plants promise a shorter time-to-market and a high flexibility regarding the products produced herein. To achieve these advantages, beside the mechanical modularization also the control systems of such plants need to change. Current process control systems are not able to fulfill all requirements of modularization. Therefore, known approaches from information technology are adapted for the automation of modular process plants. Beside service-oriented architectures, the Microservice approach is of current interest in the information technology domain. This approach is presented in this contribution, and the suitability of Microservices as an architecture for modular process automation is analyzed. Furthermore, a Microservice-based approach for the control of modular process plants is presented.
