The paper deals with the problems of grain wounding requires large energy costs, requiring a multi-stage process of grain processing, installation and perfect and reliable automation systems for the storage and processing of raw materials, theoretical and experimental studies and the results of the use of the microwave method in measuring the moisture content of grain and grain materials. The method under consideration is based on the principle of selective absorption of microwave radiation energy by water in materials and its derivatives. By the degree of absorption of radiation, the concentration of moisture is judged. The paper investigates the amplitude and phase methods of the passing wave in free space. The influence of the elastic properties of the material under study on the electrical characteristics of the microwave wave, suggesting fundamentally new ways of measuring the attenuation and phase shift of the electromagnetic wave, including discrete conversion of the signal of the primary converter, which does not require rigid metrological support and the use of a phase shift, is substantiated. Information on the values of the thickness of the material is analyzed in order to correct the influence of this value, consisting of two parameters: the signal of the passing wave, the attenuation and phase shift which characterizes the humidity and the additional signal - the phase wave reflected from the front surface of the materials and carrying information about its thickness. © 2023 IEEE.

Add-on Harmonic Disturbance Cancellation control in Continuous Hot-Dip Galvanizing Lines

In continuous hot-dip galvanizing of steel strips, unwanted vibrations of the processed strip can significantly degrade the coating uniformity and quality. Thus, an increasing number of hot-dip galvanizing lines are equipped with electromagnetic strip stabilization devices to enable active strip-shape and vibration control. Typically, commercial strip stabilizers achieve adequate broad-band vibration attenuation. However, their disturbance rejection capabilities are usually insufficient in case of persistently exciting harmonic disturbances. This work proposes a new multivariable harmonic disturbance cancellation control strategy which can be used as add-on to the position control loop of an existing strip stabilization device. The unknown amplitude, phase angle, and disturbance frequency are estimated during online operation. The systematic consideration of controller-output and estimator constraints in the design guarantees a reliable and safe operation in the challenging industrial environment. The devised control system works well even in the case of non-persistently exciting harmonic disturbances. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme is demonstrated by short- and long-term measurement results from an industrial hot-dip galvanizing line.

Optimal Sensor Placement for Mold Level in Continuous Casting

For high product quality in the continuous casting of steel, it is important that the liquid steel level in the mold remains constant and that its surface is fat. A slag layer on top of the liquid steel surface prevents direct optical measurement of the surface. However, knowing the mold level and surface shape is essential for quality monitoring and feedback control. The current paper addresses the optimal placement of mold-level sensors, given that their number is limited. The actual estimation of the surface shape is performed by an observer that receives mold-level measurements as input. The computed optimal sensor positions are validated based on experimental data from a full-scale laboratory water model of the continuous caster.

Phase Fraction Estimation Using Measured Dilation, a Lattice Parameter Model, and a Curve-Fitting Method

Dilatometry is a measurement frequently used to analyze phase transformations in steels during austenite decomposition. Such analyses are essential for the design of heat treatments and for determining the final phase fractions. This paper presents a simple and systematic method to estimate the evolution of the non-measurable phase fraction of ferrite, pearlite, bainite, and martensite during Continuous Cooling Transformation (CCT) experiments. The optimization-based method uses the measured dilation curve, a lattice parameter model, and a semi-empirical curve-fitting method. The latter assumes specific shapes of the transformation rates. The proposed approach can reconstruct the dilation curve and estimate the phase fractions with high accuracy.

The article gives the basic concepts of reliability, performance, durability, considers the issues of changing the technical state of the machine during operation. The models under consideration have the ability to introduce various perturbations in order to simulate physical defects, and numerical simulation on a computer made it possible to obtain solutions in the form of temporary realizations of oscillations for different states of the simulation object. The cooperative use of the full-scale method and mathematical modeling made it possible to reduce the volume of full-scale experiments and apply statistical methods of analysis in the problem of classifying the technical condition by constructing mathematical models of the probability of failure and uptime during their operating time. The content of the main types of machine states is revealed, considerable attention is paid to the issues of identifying and influencing failures and the causes of failures in the machine, the reasons for the loss of performance during operation. © 2023 IEEE.

Continuous in-line identification of magnetic properties of ferromagnetic steel strips is developed and investigated. It is demonstrated that estimates of the magnetization curve of the strip material can be made if the operating frequency of the induction heating (IH) system is known. In particular, the nonlinear function of the effective magnetization curve (effective $B-H$ curve) of the strip material is estimated by a moving horizon estimator (MHE) when heating the strip in the IH furnace. The magnetization curve is modeled using a linear and an exponential function and parametrized by two parameters. The MHE is based on frequency measurements and the current power of the electric supply circuit. The complex coil impedance derived from a distributed-parameter formulation of time-harmonic Maxwell's equations is used for the frequency calculation. It is shown that if the strip is insufficiently excited, the estimation of the parameters of the effective $B-H$ curve becomes inaccurate. Therefore, the possibility of a non-uniform power distribution of a supply circuit with two power inverters was analyzed. As a main finding, it is demonstrated that the estimation accuracy can be significantly improved if the local strip excitation can be increased. It is also proven that a suitable unequal power distribution does not change the strip exit temperature compared to a uniform power distribution. The estimation results are validated in a scenario for a steel strip with the effective $B-H$ curve known from laboratory measurements.

This paper proposes a Bayesian estimation scheme with block-dependent compensation for linear high-dimensional systems. The state vector is divided into blocks by considering the relationship of state variables in time series and physical interpretation to reduce the underlying computational cost. However, blocking states damages the original system and introduces systematic errors. Consequently, the divided state blocks are compensated by introducing distinct compensation coefficients to improve state estimation accuracy. Considering the difference and uniqueness of state blocks, the distinct compensation coefficients are adaptively adjusted and updated over time to ensure higher accuracy of state estimation. Simulation results of numerical example are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm. It shows that the proposed algorithm possesses moderate computational cost and higher estimation accuracy compared with the existing methods.

The paper studies the problem of designing interval observers for discrete-time linear dynamic systems under the external disturbances, measurement noises, and unknown system parameters. To construct such observers, we use not the original system but its reduced-order model of the original system of minimal dimension which is insensitive to the disturbances. The observers are designed in such a way to estimate the prescribed linear function of the original system state vector. Canonical form of the observer is used that allows to simplify the design procedure. Data augmentation method for light guide plate based on improved CycleGAN

An improved CycleGAN network method for defect data augmentation based on feature fusion and self attention residual module is proposed to address the insufficiency of defect sample data for light guide plate(LGP) in production， as well as the problem of minor defects. Two optimizations are made to the generator of CycleGAN: 1) Fusion of low resolution features obtained from partial up-sampling and down-sampling with high-resolution features. 2) Combine self attention mechanism with residual network structure to replace the original residual module. Qualitative and quantitative experiments were conducted to compare different data augmentation methods， and the results showed that the defect images of the LGP generated by the improved network were more realistic， and the accuracy of the YOLOv5 detection network for the LGP was improved by 5.6%， proving the effectiveness and accuracy of the proposed method.

In the continuous hot-dip galvanizing process, the final zinc coating thickness is heavily influenced by the distance between the strip surface and the gas wiping dies which blow off excess zinc. To this end, establishing a flat, non-curved strip is a key prerequisite to minimize coating thickness deviations and inhomogeneities. A common way to influence the lateral strip profile is to introduce a controlled plastic deformation of the strip at the guiding rolls in the zinc bath. This motivates a data-based study of the optimal roll intermesh value of the zinc bath rolls to achieve a flat (zero-crossbow) strip profile during the galvanizing process. Based on this analysis, a data-based algorithm for the online prediction of the optimal roll intermesh value at the head end of each strip is developed and implemented in an industrial processing line. The prediction results from 1045 strips demonstrate the feasibility and accuracy of the proposed prediction algorithm.
