LQ control of Lotka-Volterra Systems Based on their Locally Linearized Dynamics

This work applies the LQ control framework to the class of quasi-polynomial and Lotka-Volterra systems through the linearized version of their nonlinear system model. The primary aim is to globally stabilize the original system with a suboptimal LQ state feedback by means of a well-known entropy-like Lyapunov function that is related to the diagonal stability of linear systems. This aim can only be reached in the case when the quasi-monomial composition matrix is invertible. In the rank-deficient case only the local stabilization of the system is possible with an LQ controller that is designed using the locally linearized model of the closed-loop system model. © 2016

The comparative study of static estimators (soft sensors) for a multicomponent distillation process based on the industrial and calibrated rigorous model datasets is considered. The sequence of distillation columns of an FFC unit is analyzed as an industrial case study. The contribution of the paper is to develop a method aimed at incorporating a priori knowledge about process in terms of rigorous models for static estimator design when the training sample is small and contains measurement errors. The superiority of a constrained optimization approach for SE design over conventional robust M -estimator is reported. The system of constraints is derived from a calibrated rigorous model of an industrial plant. © 2016

Differential driven unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs) and quadrotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) are linearized as first-order integrators and fourth-order integrators respectively in this paper. Consensus problem is investigated for a heterogeneous multi-agent system composed of first-order and fourth-order agents. Firstly, consensus convergence for heterogeneous multi-agent systems is studied with stationary consensus algorithm, and sufficient consensus condition is presented under directed topology by using graph theory and matrix theory. Using Lyapunov stability theorem, besides, consensus condition in the form of linear matrix inequality is gained for the heterogeneous multi-agent systems with time-varying delay. Finally, simulation results verify the effectiveness of the research results.

Sliding mode tracking control for miniature unmanned helicopters

A sliding mode control design for a miniature unmanned helicopter is presented. The control objective is to let the helicopter track some predefined velocity and yaw trajectories. A new sliding mode control design method is developed based on a linearized dynamic model. In order to facilitate the control design, the helicopter＇s dynamic model is divided into two subsystems,such as the longitudinal-lateral and the heading-heave subsystem. The proposed controller employs sliding mode control technique to compensate for the immeasurable flapping angles＇ dynamic effects and external disturbances. The global asymptotic stability（GAS） of the closed-loop system is proved by the Lyapunov based stability analysis. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposed controller can achieve superior tracking performance compared with the proportionalintegral-derivative（PID） and linear-quadratic regulator（LQR） cascaded controller in the presence of wind gust disturbances.

The problem of robust fault detection (RFD) for nonlinear discrete-time Markovian jump systems (MJSs) with partly unknown transition probabilities is investigated in the paper. With the method of T-S fuzzy linearization, the original systems are described as a set of local linear models. The RFD observer (RFDO) system and the dynamics of error generator are constructed. By introducing some free-weighting matrices, the proposed method leads to less conservatism compared with the existing ones. Moreover, the H ∞ performance index is proposed to minimize the influence of the unknown disturbances. A sufficient condition is first established on the stochastic stability using stochastic Lyapunov-krasovskii function, then in the terms of linear matrix inequalities techniques, the sufficient conditions on the existence of RFDO are presented and proved. Finally, A simulation example is given to illustrate that the proposed RFDO can detect the faults correctly and shortly after the occurrence.

We have studied the effect of tin microalloying on the kinetics of the fractal mesodefect structure of melt-spun Fe70Cr15B15(Sn) alloys during thermal loading. It is established that the morphology evolution of ribbon interfaces correlates with the kinetics of physical properties. Symmetry character of melt-spun alloys is identified by the form of fractal dimensionality spectrum. Reduction of the fractal dimension is observed at stages of both vitrification and nanocrystallization. Residual alloying by tin of the contact interface of ribbon changes a topology of the localized states that lowers the temperature of vitrification. © 2016 Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Usual consensus algorithm is adopted to solve the consensus problem of general linear first-order multi-agent systems subjected to communication delay. In addition to normal synchronously-coupled form and asynchronously-coupled form, we proposed a new compensation-based form for the consensus algorithm. With the help of frequency-domain analysis, consensus conditions are obtained for the agents to achieve an asymptotic consensus under three forms respectively. In terms of the dynamical consensus seeking, the new compensation-based algorithm demonstrates better delay robustness than the synchronously-coupled algorithm. Numerical examples show the correctness of our results.

LS-SVM based constrained inverse control for a class of nonlinear systems

In this paper, constrained inverse control based on least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) is proposed for the general unknown nonlinear systems. The proposed control method includes three parts which are LS-SVM, inverse controller and dynamic anti-windup compensator. In this control design, LS-SVM is used to obtain the Jacobian information of the unknown nonlinear system and the inverse controller is designed to control the dynamic system. At the same time, in order to solve the control input saturation of the dynamic nonlinear system, a dynamic anti-windup compensator is proposed for accommodating the reference. Due to the proposed scheme, the output tracking ability of the closed-loop control system can be guaranteed in spite of constrained unknown nonlinear process. Finally, the simulation results for a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) are provided to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed constrained control approach. © 2016 ICIC International.

An improved diagnosis method of technological systems is proposed in this paper that is based on their qualitative colored Petri-net model (Leitold et al. 2014). The proposed diagnosis method can be used when more than one fault occur in the system and if the fault evolves during the operation of the system. In order to make the diagnosis of complex process systems computationally feasible, a structural decomposition method is introduced to reduce the size of their occurrence graphs and to make the diagnosis easier. The proposed methods are illustrated on examples.
