Standard form based design is a kind of simple and practical approach for the establishment of industrial *** a kind of general multi-capacity process(MCP) standard form, the non-overshoot theorem of the unit step and the unit ramp responses is proved via the calculation for the system responses under relevant excitations. To improve the empirical formula of the settling time of MCP standard form, the exact analytical relation between time constant and settling time is derived theoretically by means of Taylor's theorem and gamma cumulative distribution function. Finally, analyses on the dynamic performance of type-Ⅰ and type-Ⅱ MCP standard forms have demonstrated the non-overshoot characteristics and the proposed analytical expression of the settling time.

By taking into account the hits-density imaging technique that has been introduced by authors' previous publications, the acoustic emission bursts emitted from the automatic-gauge-control hydraulic cylinder under normal loading and early-stage vibration were investigated. First, six acoustic emission descriptors that showed significance regarding the cumulative probability distribution were visualised, followed by the reconstruction of the hits-density images using these features;Through the visual examination of the hits-density images regarding the cylinders' normal loading and early-stage vibration, apparent visual differences between normal and early-stage vibration under the same loading can be observed;By projecting the hits-density images onto the principal component space, a trajectory which represents the condition developments was observed, which shows a visual-based resolution for dealing with vast transient bursts data reduction,reconstruction and visualisation.

Robust tracking control design for a flexible air-breathing hypersonic vehicle

A nonlinear robust controller was presented to improve the tracking control performance of a flexible air-breathing hypersonic vehicle(AHV) which is subjected to system parametric uncertainties and unknown additive time-varying *** longitudinal dynamic model for the flexible AHV was used for the control ***-gain observers were designed to compensate for the system uncertainties and additive *** gain theorem and Lyapunov based stability analysis were utilized to prove the stability of the closed loop *** uniformly ultimately bounded tracking of the vehicle's velocity,altitude and attack angle were achieved under aeroelastic effects,system parametric uncertainties and unknown additive ***/Simulink simulation results were provided to validate the robustness of the proposed control *** simulation results demonstrate that the tracking errors stay in a small region around zero.

A special polynomial state feedback structure is proposed for open chemical reaction networks obeying the mass action law (MAL-CRNs) that stabilizes them for any of their admissible positive set of parameters. The proposed feedback makes the closed-loop system a reversible CRN that enables a generalized Hamiltonian description assuming that their number of reversible reactions is less or equal that the number of species. The design is based on solving a mixed integer linear optimization problem (MILP). A simple example is used to illustrate the basic concepts and the design method.

In this paper, a discrete mathematical approach to solve scheduling of multi-pipeline systems for petroleum products under demand uncertainty is presented. To deal with the uncertainty, the conditional value-at-risk(CVAR) analysis is adopted as a risk measure. Firstly an improved scheduling approach is proposed to model the multi-pipeline system with the consideration of different pipeline segment sizes. The improved formulation is computationally intractable when pipeline segments have distinct capacities. Then the model takes a scenario-based approach to cope with uncertainty in a CVAR framework. Computational results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach. All the instances are implemented using CPLEX.

By introducing multi-agent systems, a consensus based distributed optimization algorithm is considered in this paper. The state of each agent is to be controlled to reach a consensus on the global optimal set. From control point of view, the control input of each agent is designed based on neighbours' state information and local cost functions. Necessary and sufficient conditions on the convergence of the whole system are given in terms of graph connectivity and balancedness, as well as the persistence of the decaying step size. The convergence rate is given under some general assumptions. Last, some numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the control protocol.

In this paper we present concept, prototype and first experimental results of a force/ torque-sensor based motion control and fall prevention system for an active walker mobility aid to support walking and the sit to stand transfer. For detection of the user intention and for characterization of possible fall situations a 6Dforce/ torque sensor is used in combination together with a real-time SIMULINK® signal pre-and postprocessing. To improve situation awareness of the signal processing, a mathematical model of the human body is used in the background. Finally we present first experimental results acquired with a passive type rollator using our lab test course. © Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht 2014.

This contribution presents a new methodology for the online identification, which allows the modeling of the stationary and dynamic behavior of nonlinear combustion engines with many input and output variables in short time with an appropriate model structure. The used models are local polynomial model trees. The necessary enhancements and adaptations of the identification algorithm for local polynomial model trees for the online methodology are presented. To enable an online identification, not only the parameters but also the structure of the models has to be adapted to the ongoing measuring procedure at a test bench. This structure adaptation methods use iteratively recorded measured data for the determination of an optimized model partition and regressor selection regarding the quality and complexity of the model. This maximizes the iterative improvement of the mathematical model, leading to a reduced test bench time. The applicability of the developed methodology is shown for the identification of a model from both, an artificial test function as well as a real diesel engine. © IFAC.

The operation control for complex industrial processes consists of two layer - loop control layer and operational control layer. The former aims at achieving the required loop control for each production unit along production line whilst the later optimizes the set-points to the control loops so that certain performance indexes (such as product quality and energy cost) is optimized when the closed loop controlled variables follow their set-points well. This paper presents a novel method that can be used to analyze the performance deterioration of the optimized operational control, where the impact of tracking errors of loop control to the optimized performance is quantitatively formulated when the tracking errors are small. It has been shown that loop tracking errors would generally deteriorate the optimized performance in a quadratic way - leading to the establishment of the square impact principle (SIP). Moreover, it has been shown that the production infrastructure will also affect the deterioration of the optimized performance. Formulation on the analysis on the flat robustness (FR) and randomness of the optimized performance indexes will also be made and several issues on the future studies are listed.
