Reaction Kinetic Form for Lumped process System Models

The class of isotherm lumped process systems with constant overall mass in each of its balance volumes is considered in this paper. It is shown that the convection and transfer mechanisms can be described by a mass action law chemical reaction network (MAL CRN) with only linear kinetics where the in- and outflow terms are represented using the zero complex. This gives rise to a convection and transfer reaction sub-graph that connects atomic complexes consisting of the components in the balance volumes of the system. The real chemical reactions in each of the balance volumes can be described by their own CRNs, where the chemical reaction sub-graphs may be disconnected from the convection and transfer reaction sub-graph when nonlinear reactions occur. In the case of chemical reactions with a finite number of steady state points, the underlying linear dynamical system enables us to construct a dynamically similar linear overall reaction graph for the whole process system. The resulting overall reaction graph can be used for structural stability analysis by applying its graph theoretical properties.

The growing requirements of steel products qualities bring even tricky restrictions to the hydraulic cylinder which acts as a screw down to maintain the rolling spaces ***,faults and disfunctions are unavoidable and bring underlying safety *** with un-expected loading is one of major impact that may cause catastrophic consequence happen to the cylinder,as the classical diagnostic process to-some-extent lack of cross-validating and timeconsuming, the paper proposes the potentials of using acoustic emission to fill the *** works include the data acquisition process to record the ultrasound acoustic signals from the hydraulic cylinder,application of modified image based acoustic emission approach to generate visual effects,as well as the application of principal component analysis to project the profiles onto the 3D plane for further *** the analysis of image based profiles,the subtle differences of various cylinder conditions can be examined using the pixel and intensity values. By assessing the projection of profiles in the principal component space,a clear trajectory can be observed with normal and overload conditions allocated upon the positive and negative sides of the *** result provided not only the potential of using acoustic emission for dynamic state identification of the subtle changes,but also opens up the possibility of preventive measures to the cylinder at risks.

Component mass conservation gives a linear first integral to the dynamic reaction kinetic equations and greatly influences the set of admissible reactions. Therefore, mass conservation can be related to the deficiency of the reaction network and thus to its dynamic properties. In particular, it is shown that a mass conserving CRN without isomers and with a full rank complex composition matrix has zero deficiency. The concepts and results are illustrated on the example of the original and the lumped version of Michaelis-Menten kinetics.

Decentralized stabilization of complex systems with delayed feedback

The paper studies the problem of decentralized state feedback control design for a class of continuous-time complex systems. These systems are composed of identical nominal subsystems, symmetric nominal interconnections, and nonlinear perturbations. We consider local time-varying delayed feedback at each channel. Single delay as well as multiple delay cases are considered. By exploiting the special structure of the systems, sufficient conditions are derived for the gain matrix selection performed on the design system of reduced dimension under linear matrix inequality approach constraints. It is shown that the robust delay-dependent stability of the global multiple delay closed-loop system is guaranteed when implementing the gain matrix into the global decentralized controller. Moreover, sufficient conditions are derived for the tolerance of local control channel failures in such a global closed-loop system. The fault tolerance can be effectively tested on systems of reduced dimensions.

A ground control system (GCS) for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) is developed in this paper. Different tasks, which include real time communication between GCS and UAVs, data processing and storing, localization, path planning and so on, can be accomplished in the proposed GCS. To address the issue of path planning problem for UAVs, a new path planning algorithm based on potential function is proposed to drive the UAV to its destination in this paper. Time-varying gain adjusting method is used to enable the UAV obstacle avoidance ability under the constraints for the translation velocity. Lyapunov based analysis is used to prove the stability of the proposed algorithm. Numerical simulation results are included to demonstrate the performance of the proposed path planning design.

Bayesian estimation for nonlinear stochastic hybrid systems with state dependent transitions

The Bayesian approach is considered as the most general formulation of the state estimation for dynamic systems. However, most of the existing Bayesian estimators of stochastic hybrid systems only focus on the Markov jump system, few liter- ature is related to the estimation problem of nonlinear stochastic hybrid systems with state dependent transitions. According to this problem, a new methodology which relaxes quite a restrictive as- sumption that the mode transition process must satisfy Markov properties is proposed. In this method, a general approach is presented to model the state dependent transitions, the state and output spaces are discreted into cell space which handles the nonlinearities and computationally intensive problem offline. Then maximum a posterior estimation is obtained by using the Bayesian theory. The efficacy of the estimator is illustrated by a simulated example .

The use of local features has demonstrated its effectiveness for many visual applications. However, local features are often extracted with gray images. This ignores the useful information within different color channels which eventually hinders the final performance, especially for fine-grained image classification. Besides, the semantic information of local features is too weak to be applied for high-level visual applications. To cope with these problems, in this paper, we propose a novel fine-grained image classification method by using color exemplar classifiers. For each image, we first decompose it into multiple color channels to take advantage of the color information. For each color channel, we represent each image with a response histogram which is generated by exemplar classifiers. Experiments on several public image datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed color exemplar classifier based image classification method. © Springer International Publishing Switzerland 2013.

We introduce a simple approach to account for the ATP consumption and production in the case of mass action models of metabolic pathways including protein turnover. Under some simplifying assumptions, the method makes it possible to characterize the optimal rate of enzyme synthesis if the substrate concentrations and other rate constants are known. Furthermore we demonstrate that the proposed approach is capable of the comparison of the efficiency of different feedback laws in dynamic environment, considering time-varying substrate concentration.

This paper is concerned with identification of nonlinear systems with multiple and correlated scheduling variables. Multiple auto regressive exogenous (ARX) models are identified on different process operating conditions, and a normalized exponential function as the probability density function associated with each of the local ARX models taking effect is then used to combine all the local models to represent the complete dynamics of a nonlinear system. The parameters of the local ARX models and the exponential functions are estimated simultaneously under the framework of the expectation maximization (EM) algorithm. A numerical example is applied to demonstrate the proposed identification method.

This paper examines decentralized observer-based stabilization for symmetric interconnected systems. The structure of these systems is composed of identical subsystems with symmetric interconnections. Linear time-invariant dynamic systems are considered within the continuous-time case. The observer inputs operate with a delayed system output. Single as well as multiple time-varying interval bounded delays in the loop are considered. The state space matrices of these systems are decomposable into block diagonal matrices. Their properties and a robust stabilization approach are used to construct the design model which is subsequently used for the gain matrices selection by using Linear Matrix Inequalities. The main result shows that when these gain matrices are implemented into the overall system as local controller-observers, then the entire closed-loop system guarantees asymptotic stability. An application example illustrates the effectiveness of this method.
