Along with the improved design and broad applications of multi-level topologies, as a new commercial power switch device in recent years, IGCT has led the rapid development of high power converters in many applications, such as medium voltage adjustable speed drive and FACTs. Since the power electronic device is the base of these converters, the switching-off characteristics of IGCTs have become one of the key points in converters' design and analysis, especially when snubber circuits are absent. This paper focuses on the snubberless switching-off characteristics of IGCTs equipped in the high power three-level neutral point clamped (NPC) converter. According to the physical characteristics of switch devices and commutating mechanism between different switching processes in the converter, the switching-off characteristics of IGCTs in different topology positions under different switching conditions are described, simulated and tested. The results of simulation and experiments are compared, especially the voltage spikes by IGCTs' switching off. The relation between the switching-off characteristics and the other elements of the converter is also discussed in detail, such as topology position, PWM strategy and mechanical structure. Finally, some helpful conclusions for high power converters' design and analysis are drawn

This paper presents a predictive control method to the output probability density function (PDF) control for a dynamic flame system. The system consists of a static temperature model of gas jet flames and a second order actuator which leads the closed loop system to be a second order dynamic one. At first, the temperature distribution of the flame along the cross section is approximated. Then the flame energy distribution (FED) is obtained as the output to be controlled as approximated by a B-spline expansion. A singular state space model is used to describe the dynamic system with the weights of the B-spline functions as the state variables. Finally, a predictive control algorithm is designed for such an output PDF system. Two versions of GSM channel filter implemented as finite impulse response (FIR) discrete time filter in switched capacitor (SC) technique are presented. A method was provided to control the temperature of the room by setting a parameter of PMV (Predicted mean vote). PMV presents as a setting value by controller, while feedback value was calculated through PMV model based on temperature and humidity measured directly. The comparison between setting and model calculated value of PMV gives rise to a PMV error signal which after calculated by Fuzzy controller can control the PMV through controlling the temperature of the room. This method, compared with the traditional method of temperature control based on temperature setting, takes into account the influence of humidity parameter on the PMV, so it can raise or lower the temperature of the room properly according to different seasons, on the premise of assuring the PMV, to achieve the aim of saving energy sources.

It is shown that for open-loop stable plants the task of an MPC can be solved by identifying the plant model only instead of the redundant prediction model. Interesting structural considerations can be derived from comparison of the topologies and structural forms of regulators obtained by pole-placement design, the GTDOF scheme and the MPC . A new simple method is also introduced for adaptive and combined iterative identification and control for time-delay plants.

A contour extraction algorithm for a moving target is proposed. This algorithm consists of three steps. Firstly, motion segmentation is applied respectively to infrared and visible image sequences to get an initial contour of a moving target. Secondly, a dynamic contour is applied to make the initial contour converge to the target's contour. Finally, two novel image fusions are applied. The first fusion minimizes L2 norm's square of the difference of control point vectors in two modal images without image registration. The second fusion is realized by the modified differential coupling with image registration. Contrasting detection experiments indicate the second fusion is better. Meanwhile, a fast iteration algorithm of dynamic contour based on the Newmark method is devised. A contrasting experiment indicates its iteration time for stable convergence decreases by 21.01% compared with the Wilson-θ method.
