In this research, a high-altitude, compact and rapidly deployable, air-launched, inflatablewinged aircraft is designed, developed, and flight-tested to investigate the flight characteristics of inflatable-winged aircraft as well as the in-flight inflation and dynamic deployment properties when launched from various carriers. To start with, two types of inflatable wings employing different materials have been designed, fabricated, and tested, the tests including structural characteristics tests, inflation properties tests, and low-Reynolds-number wind-tunnel tests. A full-scale 30-kilogram prototype unmanned aerial vehicle with inflatable wings was then designed, assembled and tested with some basic low-altitude flights to verify the feasibility of the aerodynamic layout and the trim and stability and control characteristics. Finally, low- and high-altitude in-flight launches will be conducted to study the dynamic deployment properties and high-altitude flight characteristics of this design. © 2025, American institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Inc, AIAA. With the further development of space communication satellite payload technology, the demand for active phased array antenna (APAA) is increasing, and heat dissipation is a key technical problem affecting the performance of APAA. In order to ensure an ideal temperature range and reduce temperature difference in orbit, a thermal design method of a high power APAA of GEO communication satellite is proposed. The heat pipes are embedded in the active satellite installing plate to solve the heat collection, uniformly distributing temperature and heat transfer, and the active satellite installing plate is not only the structural support of the antenna but also the cooling plate of the antenna. The heat of APAA is taken away by integrated thermal coupling with the satellite platform, which is exchanged between both sides of the active satellite installing plate and the cold plate based liquid cooling, and afterwards is transmitted to the thermal radiators of satellite through single-phased fluid loop. The simulation analysis results show that the temperature and the temperature difference of the APAA meet the requirements of thermal reliability and design performance. The thermal control method used provides a feasible design reference for the thermal design of similar GEO orbit communication satellite APAA. © 2022, Science Press.

The plasma discharge channel of electrical discharge machining (EDM) brings a temperature of several thousands of degrees Celsius into the gap between the anode and cathode, resulting in the material removal by means of melting and evaporating. To investigate the characteristics of the plasma discharge channel, high-speed imaging technology is adopted to observe the dimension of the plasma. A spectrometer is used to calibrate the temperature of the plasma as well. Then the particle-in-cell with Monte Carlo collision (PIC-MCC) simulation is conducted to analyze the variation and distribution of the plasma and heat flux. The experimental results demonstrate that the discharge channels' morphology obtained is stable after a few microseconds of expansion after breakdown, and the diameter of discharge channel and the current density increases with the increase of discharge current. Besides, the emission intensity of plasma increases with the increase of electrical parameters. However, the temperature of plasma decreases after high current, which means debris particles make machining condition deteriorated. Finally, the simulation results demonstrate that despite the current density increases, the maximum heat flux at the center of electrode reduces rapidly with the expansion of the discharge channel. The distribution of heat flux upon electrode evolves towards "wider and flatter", leading to larger debris particles than exceptional size. © 2022 The Author(s).

Data poisoning attacks, where adversaries manipulate training data to degrade model performance, are an emerging threat as machine learning becomes widely deployed in sensitive applications. This paper provides a comprehensive overview of data poisoning including attack techniques, adversary incentives, impacts on security and reliability, detection methods, defenses, and key research gaps. We examine label flipping, instance injection, backdoors, and other attack categories that enable malicious outcomes ranging from IP theft to accidents in autonomous systems. Promising detection approaches include statistical tests, robust learning, and forensics. However, significant challenges remain in translating academic defenses like adversarial training and sanitization into practical tools ready for operational use. With safety and trustworthiness at stake, more research on benchmarking evaluations, adaptive attacks, fundamental tradeoffs, and real-world deployment of defenses is urgently needed. Understanding vulnerabilities and developing resilient machine learning pipelines will only grow in importance as data integrity is fundamental to developing safe artificial intelligence. © The Institution of engineering & Technology 2023.

Long term-energy planning has gradually moved towards finer temporal and spatial resolutions of the energy system to design the decarbonization of the society. However, integrated assessment models (IAMs), focusing on a broader concept of sustainability transition, are typically yearly-resolution models which complicates capturing the specific supply-demand dynamics, relevant in the transition towards renewable energy sources (RES). Different methods for introducing sub-annual information are being used in IAMs, but the hourly representation of variable RES remains challenging. This article presents a method to translate the main dynamics of an hourly-resolution energy model into a yearly-resolution model. Here we test our method with the current European Union region (EU-27) by configuring and applying the hourly-resolution EnergyPLAN. Multiple linear regression analysis is applied to 174960 simulations (set by varying 39 inputs by clusters and reaching 100% renewable systems), relating the adjusted capacity factors of the technologies as well as the variation of electricity demand and natural gas consumption as a function of the options installed to manage the variable RES. The obtained results allow validation of the developed approach, which shows to be flexible and easily generalizable enough to be applied to any couple of hourly and annual-resolution models and/or country. © 2022 Elsevier Ltd

In the wet semiconductor process, abrasive nanoparticles are widely used in the chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process to polish wafer surfaces for high planarization. During polishing, nanoparticles move with a high-speed three-dimensional (3D) position in the solution. In the 3D particles's moving positions, Z is a perpendicular longitudinal distance between the surface to the nanoparticle that plays a significant role in polishing, which could not be measured by general microscopy without longitudinal scanning. To understand nanoparticle phenomena near-surface, we have proposed and developed the apparatus with real-time fastmotion tracking on optical multi-wavelength evanescent fields microscopy to measure the 3D motion of the nanoparticle in water without scanning. In euspen's 2020, we could verify the relative distance ?Z of nanoparticles in water, but the absolute distance Z is unknown yet. In this manuscript, we have therefore developed an invisible nano-step height in water to verify the absolute height Z of an individual nanoparticle. The invisible nano-step height in water is made from an optical resin with a refractive index of 1.35 that is close to a refractive index of water to avoid unnecessary light during experimental verification. The nano-step height was less than 100 nm on a glass surface, fabricated using nanoimprint lithography. Polystyrene f100 nm standard particles in water were used to verify the height Z. The results of height Z of nanoparticles could be measured less than 100 nm with the measurement uncertainty ±10 nm (2s), which is related to the interferometer result of the nano-step height. © European Society for Precision engineering and Nanotechnology, Conference Proceedings - 22nd International Conference and Exhibition, EUSPEN 2022. In this paper, we investigate the trajectory tracking control problem for autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs) with time-varying external disturbances of currents and waves in the sea. To solve the problem, a fixed-time extended state observer (FTESO)-based tracking controller is proposed. Firstly, by using the extended state observer, the FTESO is proposed for estimating the external disturbances and the velocities of the AUV within the fixed convergence time. Based on the FTESO, the fixed-time controller is proposed for reducing the tracking errors and improving robustness performance. Theoretical analysis is given, which shows that the unknown external disturbances can be compensated and tracking error can converge to zero within the fixed time. Simulation results show that the proposed FTESO controller not only guarantees the fixed-time convergence but also reduces the trajectory tracking errors of the AUV. © 2021 Chinese Automatic control Society and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.

The article studies algorithms synthesis of a multiply connected system for controlling non-affine plants, the state variables of which are not available for direct measurement. It is shown that the decentralized control law constructed on the basis of the hyperstability criterion eliminates the influence of non-linearities and compensates external and parametric perturbations in the tracking multiply connected system with the required accuracy. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

The article is devoted to solving the problem of the combined control law synthesis for one class of non-affine plants with a delay in the input variable. The considered plant operates under conditions of a priori parametric and structural uncertainties in the presence of permanent external noise. Only the scalar plant output is available for direct measurement. The structure of the control system includes a reference predictor and dynamic filter-corrector. The synthesis of the combined regulator is based on the use of the hyperstability criterion, and the required operation quality of the obtained system is ensured at the stage of simulation. © 2021 IEEE.
