We propose joint channel sensing, probing, and accessing schemes for secondary users in cognitive radio networks. Our method has time and space complexity O(N·k) for a network with N channels and k secondary users, while applying classic methods requires exponential time complexity. We prove that, even when channel states are selected by adversary (thus non-stochastic), it results in a total regret uniformly upper bounded by Θ(√TN log N), w.h.p, for communication lasts for T timeslots. Our protocol can be implemented in a distributed manner due to the nonstochastic channel assumption. Our experiments show that our schemes achieve almost optimal throughput compared with an optimal static strategy, and perform significantly better than previous methods in many settings.

In order to improve the efficiency of attribute importance degree algorithm, the thesis brings forward an new and efficient algorithm. It sorts the decision table by the radix sorting based on distribution and statistics at first and then calculates the equivalence class, so it reduces the time complexity of equivalence class algorithm from O(|CU|2) to O(|CU|). It is on the basis of the improved equivalence class algorithm that the improved attribute importance degree algorithm is presented. The analysis of an example and the result of experiments prove that the result of calculating attribute importance degree by the traditional and the improved attribute importance degree algorithm are completely same, but the improved attribute importance degree algorithm brought forward by the thesis is more efficient. ©2010 IEEE.

Aiming at moving aspect of heterogeneous wireless network, The paper puts forward a heterogeneous network mobile management mechanism- Identifiers Split Memory, Substitution Transmission Scheme ISMSTS, introduces the basic theory and the protocol process of ISMSTS detailed, and makes the performance analysis and the contrast with MIPv6 protocol. ISMSTS is the mobile management scheme based on the network, both of the position and switch management are accomplished by the network. It can satisfy the needs of the heterogeneous converged network mobile management mechanism on fast switching, extensible, controllable, safety and reducing of wireless link costs. Theoretical analysis shows that on the network layer the average switching lag time of network ISMSTS much less than MIPv6's, which can effectively support most real-time application. And the realization and verification of the prototype system further illustrates the feasibility and the effectiveness of the ISMSTS.

Software aging refers to the phenomenon that applications will show growing failure rate or performance degradation after longtime execution. It is reported that this phenomenon usually has close relationship with computing-resource exhaustion. This paper analyzes computing-resource usage data collected on a LAN, and quantitatively investigates the relationship between computing-resource exhaustion trend and workload. First, we discuss the definition of workload, and then a multi-layer back propagation neural network is trained to construct the nonlinear relationship between input (workload) and output (computing-resource usage). Then we use the trained neural network to forecast the computing-resource usage, i.e., free memory and used swap, with workload as its input. Finally, the results were benchmarked against those obtained without regard to influence of workload reported in the literatures, such as non-parametric statistical techniques or parametric time series models.

Technique of multiple windows frequency estimation integrating SVD offers a efficient method which estimate interference temperature in radio frequency environment. Since this paper uses a way which SVD integrate the neural network, the complexity of tradition arithmetic was predigested and improved the nicety of estimating interference temperature. At the same time, the paper provides a good method for estimating the real time interference temperature in complex radio frequency environment.

We present in this paper a scheduling algorithm towards the service migration uncertainty that aims to enhance the service survivability in the server cluster system. Survivable scheduling algorithm is one of the important aspects of survivability study. This paper introduced the stochastic mechanism in the server cluster systems, which made it uncertain of the services migration among the servers, so as to increase the difficulty for the intruders penetrating the systems, and enhanced the system survivability. In this work, we introduced the layers of survivability study, illustrated the function of the survivable scheduling algorithm; then, analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the exist scheduling algorithms; promoted a pseudo-random autonomous algorithm for service survivability scheduling, including generating the scheduling sequence and the Markov-based autonomous competition mechanism, the performance of the algorithm is investigated at last.

The recent explosive growth of multimedia information in many applications requires advanced techniques for multimedia information retrieval (MIR). Audio is one of Important media in multimedia and contains abundant information. Recent development in MIR has revealed that audio information can provide effective contents to retrieve multimedia information. Consequently, it has been paid more and more attention to how to classify audio information. Many existing and new research issues can lead to improve the retrieval efficiency, effectiveness, and accessibility. This paper provides a hybrid classification method for audio indexing and retrieval. It firstly describes main audio characteristics and features and the basic theory of Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Independent Component Analysis (ICA). Finally, the hybrid method that integrates ICA and SVM is presented and applied into audio classification. © 2006 IEEE.

A Unit of Employment (UE) is the senior army headquarters deployed to a theater. UE command Element is responsible for all ground combat operations in the theater. Rapid deployment of ground combat units depends on the effective management of all resources available during early entry in a theater including electrical resources. Electrical power consumers on the future battlefield include complex command posts, vehicles, sensors, communication systems, and decision-making networks that rely on reliable mobile and portable sources of power and energy. With a need to reduce the army logistics burden, shipping more power devices or fuel are not feasible options. The army desires a solution replenishing high performance batteries as far forward as possible. Since nearly every C2 system requires electrical power in increasing levels of demand, new technologies and concepts are required to provide command and control systems with adequate electrical power. The challenge is in reducing consumption and providing for efficient distribution of electrical power at all echelons in the Battlespace. This concept is an effort to provide network centric management and information technology to the power sources within the brigade area, as a tactical power grid. This program will provide the commander an information technology backbone within the UE to make better management decisions for power and energy resources including battery charging. The outcome of this concept will improve deployability, reduce the power required to sustain operations, reduce the cost of operations and allow the commander to manage the capability of his unit while engaged in Network Centric Warfare. He has worked at a number of shipyards General Dynamics Quincy Massachusetts Avondale New Orleans Louisiana and Ingalls Pascagoula Mississippi with professional interests in the areas of hull design structural design and arrangements. He has also worked for design firms and the United States Coast Guard in Washington DC. Anderson's current position is as the Supervisory Naval Architect at the Military Sealift Command in Washington DC where he is involved in all aspects of naval architecture and marine engineering pertaining to the alteration maintenance and repair of the MSC fleet. He is also a member of SNAME. GREGON L. GANT a Captain and ED in the USNR graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in marine engineering in 1972. He began his service as an ensign aboard the USS Denebola as the main propulsion assistant and further qualified as a Surface Warfare officer and officer of the deck. As a lieutenant he was an instructor at the Navy School of Work Study in Norfolk Virginia teaching Management Engineering/Work Simplification from 1975 to 1977. Other professional experience includes Executive Vice President of Matthews-Daniel Company from 1979 to 1993. Joining the U.S. Navy Reserve in 1978 he served as both Commanding and Executive officer in a number of assignments with Naval Sea Systems Command and is currently a Commanding officer PMS Washington Detachment 210. He currently is president of Guy Matthews Associates Inc. Gant is a member of ASNE the Houston Mariners Club (Past Skipper) the National Association of Marine Surveyors — Certified Marine Surveyor and the U.S. Naval Institute. CAPT. ROBERT G. On October 12, 2000, terrorists bombed the USS Cole (DDG 67), an Arleigh Burke class destroyer. The vessel was in the process of receiving fuel while moored alongside a dolphin in the middle of the harbor at Aden, Yemen. With no local repair facilities and a tense diplomatic situation, the badly damaged, but stable vessel bad to leave Aden for repairs at another site. After a few intense days of weighing different options, handicapped with limited information, the Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) granted approval on October 14 to pursue a heavy lift operation. Two days later on October 16, the Navy awarded a contract voyage charter to heavy lift/dry transport the vessel to the United States on board a semi-submersible heavy lift ship. This paper will discuss a chronology of events and the associated engineering that culminated in the successful loading off the coast of Yemen and the safe transit home of this fully armed and badly-damaged warship. Detailed discussion will include the following: events leading up to the decision to heavy lift, preliminary engineering done in Oslo, Norway, detailed engineering done on board MV Blue Marlin, planning and execution of the loading operation, post loading and seafastening, the decision to fit a temporary patch, route planning, and the voyage home. The paper will also present the salient and unique characteristics of the Marlin class, currently the world's largest semi-submersible heavy lift ships.
