Occlusion-Aware Secure Device-to-Device communication in Social Internet of Things networks

The Social Internet of Things (SIoT) framework facilitates the development of various consumer electronic devices such as smartphones, smart wearables, and smart wireless devices, enabling social relationships between electronic devices and humans. Human-centric intelligent Device-to-Device (D2D)-enabled SIoT networks provide essential services like traffic offloading and secure data rate, but face challenges from urban interference caused by obstacles;to mitigate this, we propose a user-driven approach that prioritizes social relationships to enhance network performance. We address occlusion challenges in urban areas by formulating a problem aimed at maximizing throughput and secrecy rate while minimizing power consumption, employing an intelligent resource allocation and spline-based power transmission scheme for efficient utilization. Field tests using Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP) and LabVIEW have been performed to validate the proposed method. The results show a throughput improvement of 10.93%, and a 27.86% enhancement in secrecy rate compared to other benchmark schemes. The comprehensive adoption of this algorithm can enable secure D2D communication for consumer electronics products driven by social IoT networks. © 1975-2011 IEEE.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles(UAVs) have received a wide range of attention for military and commercial applications. Enhanced with communication capability, UAVs are considered to play important roles in the Sixth Generation(6G) networks due to their low cost and flexible deployment. 6G is supposed to be an all-coverage network to provide ubiquitous connections for space, air, ground and underwater. UAVs are able to provide air-borne wireless coverage flexibly,serving as aerial base stations for ground users, as relays to connect isolated nodes, or as mobile users in cellular networks. However, the onboard energy of small UAVs is extremely limited. Thus,UAVs can be only deployed to establish wireless links temporarily. Prolonging the lifetime and developing green UAV communication with low power consumption becomes a critical *** this article, a comprehensive survey on green UAV communications for 6G is carried out. Specifically, the typical UAVs and their energy consumption models are introduced. Then, the typical trends of green UAV communications are provided. In addition, the typical applications of UAVs and their green designs are discussed. Finally, several promising techniques and open research issues are also pointed out.

Error estimation is an important step for error correction in quantum key distribution. Traditional error estimation methods require sacrificing a part of the sifted key, forcing a trade-off between the accuracy of error estimation and the size of the partial sifted key to be used and discarded. In this paper, we propose a hybrid approach that aims to preserve the entire sifted key after error estimation while preventing Eve from gaining any advantage. The entire sifted key, modified and extended by our proposed method, is sent for error estimation in a public channel. Although accessible to an eavesdropper, the modified and extended sifted key ensures that the number of attempts to crack it remains the same as when no information is leaked. The entire sifted key is preserved for subsequent procedures, indicating the efficient utilization of quantum resources.

The use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to provide cellular communication in rural areas, disaster-hit regions, or during temporary events is gaining increasing attention due to its flexible deployment and energy efficiency compared to fixed terrestrial infrastructures. However, UAVs experience significant challenges such as the limited wireless connectivity provided by Ka-band frequency, and their flying time is constrained by the energy consumed during the data transmission and the complexity of the Baseband Unit (BBU) implementation. Using different lower layer functional split options (e.g., 7-1, 7-2, 7-2x, and 7-3), this paper provides a theoretical and simulation analysis of the 5G New Radio (NR) physical layer specifications to achieve a fronthaul bandwidth that can be supported by the Ka-band. These functional split options are then compared in terms of fronthaul bandwidth, theoretical throughput, connection density, number of functions deployed at the UAV, and the energy consumption of the fronthaul transmission to determine which functional split option is better suited for a multi-layered Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN). © VDE VERLAG GMBH · Berlin · Offenbach.

Cloud Data Centers (CDC) are developing rapidly and will have a major impact on IT infrastructures in the future for reasons of their low ramp-up costs and service delivery/support capabilities for the users. In this paper CDCs with multi-service application classes are considered which are operated under an automatic server consolidation based on parallel hysteresis methods for server activations/deactivations which have been reported on our previous work. Each class is subjected to an individual SLA, e.g., for the average service delay for non-real-time services or for delay percentiles for services with strict response time constraints, and probabilities for service rejection (loss) or migration. Operation of a CDC is modeled by Finite State Machine (FSM) - controlled queuing systems for each class of cloud services which are analyzed exactly under Markovian assumptions to receive averages and percentiles of response times and probabilities of loss or migration. The method is novel as it minimizes the energy consumption for servers by an automatic server consolidation strategy while guaranteeing the negotiated SLAs. The method is based on a worst case boundary consideration for the delays of arriving service requests and can be useful to understand the parametric influences and to assess the energy saving gains for multi-tier CDCs. © 2013 IEEE.

This paper is based on elastic wave propagation and six component seismic detection methods to detect underwater targets, which makes up for the shortcomings of traditional underwater acoustic passive detection methods that cannot effectively detect targets in near shallow water. The implementation of this article requires four steps: firstly, using a self-developed six component seismometer to collect seismic signals excited by the target;Secondly, screen out abnormal six component seismic signals;Step 3: Data preprocessing such as denoising and azimuth correction;Finally, the target direction finding is achieved by comprehensively utilizing rotational and translational seismic signals. Through multiple experiments, it can be concluded that: (1) using a six component seismic sensor can detect the six component seismic signal excited by the target, and the lower the detection frequency band, the easier it is to detect the low-frequency signal excited by the target;(2) It can be clearly observed in the time-frequency domain that moving targets have a close far passing characteristic;(3) The energy of the six component seismic signal has a certain proportional relationship with the target distance. The closer the target distance is, the greater the energy of the excited six component seismic signal;(4) Six component seismic signals can be used to achieve target detection and positioning. Compared to traditional seismic detection, six component seismic detection has a higher ability and is an important supplement to traditional underwater acoustic detection methods. This article first discovered that underwater moving targets not only generate seismic translational signals, but also contain low-frequency rotational seismic signals. Molecular communication (MC) has long been envisioned to enable an Internet of Bio-Nano Things (IoBNT) with medical applications, where nanomachines within the human body conduct monitoring, diagnosis, and therapy at micro- and nanoscale levels. MC involves information transfer via molecules and is supported by well-established theoretical models. However, practically achieving reliable, energy-efficient, and bio-compatible communication at these scales still remains a challenge. Air-Based Molecular communication (ABMC) is a type of MC that operates over larger, meter-scale distances and extends even outside the human body. Therefore, devices and techniques to realize ABMC are readily accessible, and associated use cases can be very promising in the near future. Exhaled breath analysis has previously been proposed. It provides a noninvasive approach for health monitoring, leveraging existing commercial sensor technologies and reducing deployment barriers. The breath contains a diverse range of molecules and particles that serve as biomarkers linked to various physiological and pathological conditions. The plethora of proven methods, models, and optimization approaches in MC enable macroscale breath analysis, treating human as the transmitter, the breath as the information carrier, and macroscale sensors as the receiver. Using ABMC to interface with the inherent dynamic networks of cells, tissues, and organs could create a novel Internet of Bio Things (IoBT), a preliminary macroscale stage of the IoBNT. This survey extensively reviews exhaled breath modeling and analysis through the lens of MC, offering insights into theoretical frameworks and practical implementations from ABMC, bringing the IoBT a step closer to real-world use. The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming an active research area because of its largescale challenges and implementation. But security is the major concern while seeing the dramatic expansion in its applications and size. It is challenging to independently put security mechanism in all the IoT devices and upgrade it according to newer threats. Furthermore, machine learning (ML) techniques could better apply the massive quantity of data produced by IoT devices. Thus, several Deep Learning (DL) based algorithms were introduced for detecting attacks in IoT. Therefore, this study develops a galactic swarm optimization with Deep Learning based Attack Detection and Classification (GSODL-ADC) Model in IoT Environment. The presented GSODL-ADC technique concentrates on the identification of attacks in the IoT environment. The presented GSODL-ADC technique utilizes deep autoencoder (DAE) as a classifier model which properly recognizes the attacks in the IoT environment. Followed by this, the GSO approach is utilized for the optimum hyperparameter adjustments of the DAE model, which leads to enhanced attack detection efficacy. The experimental evaluation of the GSODL-ADC algorithm is tested against benchmark dataset. The obtained experimental values signify the betterment of the GSODL-ADC technique for attack recognition purposes. © 2023 IEEE.

In this work, a network of Morris–Lecar neurons with electromagnetic induction is imposed with nonlinear magnetic flux diffusion. We study wave propagation in a network of Morris–Lecar (ML) neurons with magnetic flux diffusion, connected to the local nodes of the nearest neighbors in a $$110 \times 110$$ lattice of neurons with periodic boundary conditions. First, we explore the effect of various initial conditions on the modified ML neuron network without imposing external stimuli. Subsequently, we apply external stimuli at different positions and study wave propagation by changing the amplitude and frequency of the stimuli. The effects of varying Nernst potential of potassium ions, coupling strengths, and flux constants are also analyzed. The resulting collective dynamics of the considered neuronal network are provided in snapshots with different model parameters. This study offers a novel perspective on wave propagation in networks of biological neurons.
