This paper proposes a design method for achieving safe trajectory of indoor drones. The trajectory design with a reinforcement-learning-based (RL) agent is facilitated, which can result in efficient and collision-free motion. The method is developed for motion in indoor area with moving mobile robots, and thus, the collision with these obstacles must be avoided. Through RL-based design the fast motion of the drones can be achieved, which must perform a mission between workstations in a manufacturing system. The effectiveness of the design process through a simulation example on a real laboratory environment is illustrated.

The paper presents modeling, control and analysis of an urban public transport network. First, a centralized system description is given, built up from the dynamics of individual buses and bus stops. Aiming to minimize three conflicting goals (equidistant headways, timetable adherence, and minimizing passenger waiting times), a reference tracking model predictive controller is formulated based on the piecewise-affine system model. The closed-loop system is analyzed with three methods. Numerical simulations on a simple experimental network showed that the temporal evolution of headways and passenger numbers could maintain their periodicity with the help of velocity control. With the help of randomized simulation scenarios, sensitivity of the system is analyzed. Finally, infeasible regions for the bus network control was sought using by formulating an explicit model predictive controller.

A fuzzy model identification method based on data characteristic is presented for complex processes which are difficult to be mathematically modeled. First, the domain of discourse of input variables is divided according to the changing degree of the process output while the input variables change. Then, the total number and the premise parameters of the fuzzy rules are determined based on the division. Finally, the fuzzy model can be expressed as a feedfoward fuzzy neural network, so the BP algorithm is applied to obtain the consequent parameters of the fuzzy rules. The fuzzy controller of a flexible link robot is designed based on the presented fuzzy model identification method, and the corresponding fuzzy control experiment is performed. The experimental results show that the satisfactory performance is achieved by using the presented fuzzy model identification and fuzzy control method.

Hepatitis C is a major public health problem in the United States and worldwide. Outbreaks of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infections associated with unsafe injection practices, drug diversion, and other exposures to blood are difficult to detect and investigate. Molecular analysis has been frequently used in the study of HCV outbreaks and transmission chains; helping identify a cluster of sequences as linked by transmission if their genetic distances are below a previously defined threshold. However, HCV exists as a population of numerous variants in each infected individual and it has been observed that minority variants in the source are often the ones responsible for transmission, a situation that precludes the use of a single sequence per individual because many such transmissions would be missed. The use of Next-Generation Sequencing immensely increases the sensitivity of transmission detection but brings a considerable computational challenge because all sequences need to be compared among all pairs of samples. For instance, our relatively small dataset of 401 samples, a total of 80200 pairwise sample comparisons must be performed, which account for 4.56 x 1010 pairwise sequence comparisons. We present a fast and efficient three-step filtering strategy that removes 85.1% of all the pairwise sample comparisons and 91.0% of all pairwise sequence comparisons, accurately establishing which pairs of HCV samples are below the relatedness threshold This electronic document is a “live” template and already defines the components of your paper [title, text, heads, etc.] in its style sheet.

In various adaptive estimation applications, the unknown channel is characterized by an impulse response which consists of extended regions of negligible response or 'inactivity'. We consider the LMS estimation of a channel that may be well approximated by an FIR (filter) model with only a few nonzero tap coefficients within a given delay horizon or tap length n. When the number of nonzero tap coefficients m is small compared to the delay horizon n, the performance of the LMS estimator is greatly enhanced when this specific structure is exploited. We propose a consistent algorithm that performs identification of nonzero taps only.

To receive the plan of experiments, the infinite multidimensional space is replaced with a hypercube whose surface models influence of infinite space.
