In the process of coal mine drilling,controlling the rotary speed is important as it determines the efficiency and safety of *** this paper,a linear extended state observer(LESO)based backstepping controller for rotary speed is proposed,which can overcome the impact of changes in coal seam hardness on rotary ***,the influence of coal seam hardness on the drilling rig’s rotary system is considered for the first time,which is reflected in the numerical variation of load torque,and a dynamic model for the design of rotary speed controller is *** an LESO is designed to observe the load torque,and feedforward compensation is carried out to overcome the influence of coal seam *** on the model of the compensated system,a backstepping method is used to design a controller to achieve tracking control of the rotary ***,the effectiveness of the controller designed in this paper is demonstrated through simulation and field experiments,the steady-state error of the rotary speed in field is 1 r/min,and the overshoot is reduced to 5.8%.This greatly improves the stability and security,which is exactly what the drilling process requires.

Nowadays, the technological level of production is an important factor for all areas of modern economic development and life quality improvement. Neither in the informational, nor in the industrial sphere it is possible to produce in-demand, modern, and therefore high-tech and complex products without the establishment of an appropriate system of quality examination at multiple stages of production. This article deals with the problem of forming a comprehensive educational environment with the use of heterogeneous educational resources in the training of specialists in the radiation type of nondestructive testing. The purpose of the research and development is to address the shortcomings of classroom, remote digital learning, and laboratory practice listed in the article by developing a solution based on virtual reality technologies. The purpose stated lies in the pursuit of intensive solutions to the existing problems. Extensive development paths are not effective in improving the efficiency of training and checking students' knowledge in the context of the rapidly growing demand for nondestructive testing specialists. The concept of a digital twin as an educational resource is considered. The structural approach to the formation of complex educational resources both at the level of organization and at the level of digital product is presented. The structure of interrelationships between data in the formation of a digital twin of a radiographic image is presented. The results of the radiographic image simulation and its quality verification are shown. © 2024 IEEE.

Digital simulators based on virtual reality expand the range of educational opportunities and improve the quality of learning in various areas of knowledge through deeper "immersion"in the learning process. Attention to the details of the modeled process plays an important role. One of the tasks of interactive simulators is to provide an opportunity to see the relationship between the user's actions and the obtained qualitative and quantitative parameters and quality attributes of the simulated process result. Considered the issue of curved shape detectors application relevance in the practice of penetrating radiation evaluation in general and in industrial radiography in particular. The prerequisites for the creation of flexible (bendable) form of digital radiographic detectors and the features of two generations of practically implemented devices are analyzed. Development of a flexible detector digital twin is considered, models and algorithms for its realization in a virtual reality environment are proposed, and the main results of computational and laboratory experiments as well as the obtained radiographic images are presented. The main task of virtual reality technologies within the qualified technical specialists training programs is the development of their professional skills and the formation of stable behavior patterns that ensure strict compliance with the rules and requirements of industrial safety, thereby ensuring the high quality of the end product. © 2024 IEEE.

In recent years, cloud computing has witnessed widespread applications across numerous organizations. Predicting workload and computing resource data can facilitate proactive service operation management, leading to substantial improvements in Quality of Service and cost efficiency. However, these data often exhibit nonlinearity, high volatility, and interdependencies across different categories, presenting challenges for accurate forecasting. Consequently, there is a critical need to develop a method that thoroughly and comprehensively analyzes all available data to forecast future trends effectively. This work proposes a novel integrated data-enhanced prediction model named SVAPI for achieving high-accuracy workload prediction in cloud computing systems. SVAPI employs the Savitzky-Golay filter, Variational mode decomposition, and the mode selection based on Amplitude-aware Permutation entropy for feature processing, whose features are subsequently utilized by Informer for multivariate joint analysis of the enhanced data, achieving high-precision prediction. Ablation and comparative experiments with advanced prediction models are conducted on the Google cluster trace and other typical datasets. Realistic data-driven results indicate that SVAPI improves the prediction accuracy by 37.7% compared to the original Informer, with each module contributing to the performance enhancement. Furthermore, compared with Autoformer, SVAPI enhances the prediction accuracy of workload, CPU, and memory by 65.6%, 66.9%, and 70.8%, respectively, demonstrating that SVAPI owns strong abilities in noise filtering, feature processing, and multivariate joint analysis for achieving higher prediction accuracy. © 2014 IEEE.

Recently, many studies have used evolutionary algorithms (EAs) to optimize complex problems across various fields, including mechanical structure design, robotics, and cloud computing. EAs simulate the process of evolution to improve solutions to a given problem iteratively. However, EAs encounter significant challenges when dealing with high-dimensional expensive problems (HEPs). The large solution space and high computing cost of fitness evaluations (FEs) make optimization with limited FEs particularly difficult. To tackle this problem, an Adaptive Multi-stage Evolution Algorithm named AMEA is proposed. In AMEA, an adaptively enhanced teaching-learning-based optimization algorithm is adopted to explore the search space and find potential areas quickly. Then, in the next stage, the Gaussian process surrogate model and a genetic learning particle swarm optimization algorithm are adopted for further exploitation. Besides, this work proposes an adaptive stage switching criterion and an individual screening mechanism to enhance the optimization ability. AMEA demonstrates strong optimization performance when applied to HEPs. We compare AMEA with several state-of-the-art HEP optimization algorithms through seven benchmark functions, and the results show that it performs competitively with other algorithms. Finally, we also validate AMEA's effectiveness with a real-world computation offloading problem. © 2024 IEEE.

In the human pose estimation task, on the one hand, 3-D pose always has difficulty in dividing different 2-D poses if the view is limited;on the other hand, it is hard to reduce the lifting ambiguity because of the lack of depth information, it is an important and challenging problem. Therefore, two-stage representation refinement based on the convex combination for 3-D human pose estimation is proposed, in which the two-stage method includes a dense-spatial-temporal convolutional network and a local-to-refine network. The former is applied to determine the features between each video frame;the latter is used to get the different scales of pose details. It aims to address the difficulty of estimating 3-D human pose from 2-D image sequences. In such a way, it can better use the relations between every frame in the sequence of the pose video to produce more accurate results. Finally, we combine the above network with a block called convex combination to help refine the 3-D pose location. We test the proposed approach on both Human3.6m and MPII datasets. The result confirms that our method can achieve better performance than improved CNN supervision, a simple yet effective baseline, and coarse-to-fine volumetric prediction. Besides, a robustness test experiment is carried out for the proposed method while the input is interrupted. The result verifies that our method shows better robustness. © 2024 IEEE.

Polysomnography, the gold standard of sleep measurement, is a time-intensive, costly, and rather invasive procedure. Using under-bed pressure sensor arrays data simultaneously recorded with standard polysomnography, this study demonstrates that deep learning can be used to classify body position and differentiate sleep from wake. All measurements were performed in people with suspected sleep disorders referred for clinical assessments at a sleep laboratory. To perform the classification tasks, we used supervised learning and temporal convolution networks. Performance was assessed with leave-one-out cross validation on 84 participants for body position classification and 70 participants for sleep-wake classification. Results demonstrate that a pressure sensor array placed under the mattress with less than 100 sensors can outperform previous sleep-wake detection methods and is competitive with previous methods for body position classification. Our pressure sensor arrays differ from the mats used in previous work as they use significantly less sensors and are located under the mattress, making them less obtrusive. This tool has great potential as a cost-efficient mean of assessing sleep while reducing patient burden and the workload of specialized staff. © 2023 IEEE.

Ecosystems are undergoing unprecedented persistent deterioration due to unsustainable anthropogenic human activities,such as overfishing and deforestation,and the effects of such damage on ecological stability are *** recent advances in experimental and theoretical studies on regime shifts and tipping points,theoretical tools for understanding the extinction chain,which is the sequence of species extinctions resulting from overexploitation,are still lacking,especially for large-scale nonlinear networked *** this study,we developed a mathematical tool to predict regime shifts and extinction chains in ecosystems under multiple exploitation situations and verified it in 26 real-world mutualistic networks of various sizes and *** discovered five phases during the exploitation process:safe,partial extinction,bistable,tristable,and collapse,which enabled the optimal design of restoration strategies for degraded or collapsed *** validated our approach using a 20-year dataset from an eelgrass restoration ***,we also found a specific region in the diagram spanning exploitation rates and competition intensities,where exploiting more species helps increase *** computational tool provides insights into harvesting,fishing,exploitation,or deforestation plans while conserving or restoring the biodiversity of mutualistic ecosystems.

Changes in coal seam hardness cause fluctuations in the feed resistance at the drill bit during the drilling process, leading to unstable feeding speed. This paper proposes a robust dynamic output feedback controller to suppress disturbances caused by the variations in coal seam hardness in the feed system. Firstly, an unknown parameter measuring coal seam hardness is introduced, and an uncertain model of the feeding system is established based on the finite element model of the drill string. By designing weighted functions based on industrial field requirements and constructing a generalized plant, the controller achieves loop shaping, reducing the low-frequency impact of coal seam hardness variations on the feed system and suppressing the systems resonance peak. Simulation results demonstrate that the controller effectively suppresses parameter variations and external disturbances caused by changes in coal seam hardness, achieving stable control of the drilling speed. © 2024 IEEE.
