Conceptual modeling is fundamental to any domain where one must cope with complex real-world situations and systems because it fosters communication - tween technology experts and those who would bene?t from the application of those technologies. Conceptual modeling is the key mechanism for und- standing and representing the domains of information system and database - gineering but also increasingly for other domains including the new “virtual” *** of conceptual modeling in software engineering is evidenced by recent interest in “model-drivenarchitecture”and“extremenon-programming”.Conceptualm- eling also plays a prominent rolein various technical disciplines and in the social sciences. The Annual International Conference on Conceptual Modeling (referred to as the ER Conference) provides a central forum for presenting and discussing current research and applications in which conceptual modeling is the major emphasis. In keeping with this tradition, ER 2005, the 24th ER Conference, spanned the spectrum of conceptual modeling including research and practice in areas such as theories of concepts and ontologies underlying conceptual m- eling, methods and tools for developing and communicating conceptual models, and techniques for transforming conceptual models into e?ective (information) system implementations. Moreover, new areas of conceptual modeling incl- ing Semantic Web services and the interdependencies of conceptual modeling with knowledge-based, logical and linguistic theories and approaches were also addressed.

This volume composes the proceedings of the Second International Conference on Computational Collective Intelligence––Technologies and Applications (ICCCI 2010), which was hosted by National Kaohsiung University of applied Sciences and Wroclaw University of Technology, and was held in Kaohsiung City on November 10-12, 2010. ICCCI 2010 was technically co-sponsored by Shenzhen Graduate School of Harbin institute of Technology, the Tainan Chapter of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, the Taiwan Association for Web Intelligence Consortium and the Taiwanese Association for Consumer Electronics. It aimed to bring together researchers, engineers and po- cymakers to discuss the related techniques, to exchange research ideas, and to make friends. ICCCI 2010 focused on the following themes: • Agent Theory and Application • Cognitive Modeling of Agent Systems • Computational Collective Intelligence • computer Vision • Computational Intelligence • Hybrid Systems • Intelligent Image Processing • Information Hiding • Machine Learning • Social Networks • Web Intelligence and Interaction Around 500 papers were submitted to ICCCI 2010 and each paper was reviewed by at least two referees. The referees were from universities and industrial organizations. 155 papers were accepted for the final technical program. Four plenary talks were kindly offered by: Gary G. Yen (Oklahoma State University, USA), on “Population Control in Evolutionary Multi-objective Optimization Algorithm,” Chin-Chen Chang (Feng Chia University, Taiwan), on “Applying De-clustering Concept to Information Hiding,” Qinyu Zhang (Harbin institute of Technology, China), on “Cognitive Radio Networks and Its Applications,” and Lakhmi C.

It is with greatpleasure that we present the proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Visual Computing (ISVC 2009), which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. ISVC o?ers a common umbrella for the four main areas of visual c- puting includingvision,graphics,visualization,*** provide a forum for researchers, scientists, engineers, and practitioners throu- out the world to present their latest research ?ndings, ideas, developments, and applications in the broader area of visual computing. This year, the program consisted of 16 oral sessions, one poster session, 7 special tracks, and 6 keynote presentations. Also, this year ISVC hosted the Third Semantic Robot Vision *** responseto the call for papers was verygood;wereceivedover320submissionsfor themainsymposiumfromwhich we accepted 97 papers for oral presentation and 63 papers for poster presen- tion. Special track papers were solicited separately through the Organizing and Program Committees of each track. A total of 40 papers were accepted for oral presentation and 15 papers for poster presentation in the special tracks. All papers were reviewed with an emphasis on potential to contribute to the state of the art in the ?eld. Selection criteria included accuracy and originality of ideas, clarity and signi?cance of results, and presentation quality. The review process was quite rigorous, involving two to three independent blind reviews followed by several days of discussion. During the discussion period we tried to correct anomalies and errors that might have existed in the initial reviews.
