Stress, as a reaction to threatening situations, can raise heart rate and result in serious conditions that might cause significant damage or even be life-threatening. Traditional methods for evaluating stress, which rely on subjective self-reporting and clinical assessments, often suffer from biases and inconsistencies. Artificial intelligence models have been explored to predict stress levels more accurately. This paper investigates the application of Extreme Gradient Boosting in classifying psychological stress using the WESAD dataset, which includes parameters such as acceleration, electrocardiogram, electromyography, electrodermal activity, temperature, and respiration. The dataset was balanced and sampled to create a manageable subset for experimental. Extreme Gradient Boosting was chosen for its efficiency and scalability in handling complex datasets. The model was trained and validated, achieving a 95% accuracy in predicting stress levels. This study highlights the potential of integrating Extreme Gradient Boosting models into wearable devices for real-time stress monitoring. Future work involves optimizing the model to utilize fewer sensors without decreasing accuracy, ensuring it can be integrated into portable/wearable systems using tiny microcontrollers.

In industrial settings, querying data streams from Internet of Things (IoT) devices benefits from utilizing elastic criteria to enhance the interpretability of the current state of the monitored environment. Fuzzy sets provide this elasticity, enabling the aggregation and representation of similar values in a human-comprehensible manner. However, many sensor signals exhibit temporal oscillations, leading to varying interpretations of the signal based on its current trend (rising or falling). This hysteresis in signal (and subsequently of the production device) interpretation inspired us to introduce this phenomenon into data stream processing, resulting in the novel concept of hysteretic fuzzy sets. This article demonstrates how fuzzy searching and grouping can be applied to IoT sensor signals in flexible Big Data stream processing on Apache Kafka. We illustrate the impact of data stream querying with KSQL queries involving fuzzy sets (encompassing fuzzy filtering of data stream events, fuzzy transformation of data stream attributes, fuzzy grouping, and joining) on the flexibility of executed operations and computational resources utilized by the Kafka processing engine. Finally, our experiments with hysteretic fuzzy sets while analyzing sensor signals in power plants demonstrate that this novel approach effectively reduces the number of alarms while monitoring the state of the production machine.

Abstract: Over the past decades, interest has increased in studying different techniques to detect the importance of microbubbles in many industrial and medical applications such as mechanisms of hydraulic machinery cavitation erosion, histotripsy, and lithotripsy. The behavior from early irregular oscillations to late regular oscillations of spherical microcavitation bubbles produced by lasers in water was studied by means of plasma photography. Repetition of such delayed oscillations results in quantities of gas/vapour inside the spherical bubbles. Using the modified Gilmore model of cavitation microbubble dynamics, calculations were made for the laser pulse energy, microbubble radius behavior, and microbubble growth rate. Additionally, the pressure evolution inside the bubble, and pressures distribution surrounding of microbubbles in liquid are investigated under the effect of different values of initial cavitation of microbubble radius. The effect of enthalpy is considered into account. The proposed model is solved numerically using numerical techniques as a finite difference method. In addition, the radius of the microbubbles is calculated as a function of time under the influence of the initial radius of these laser-induced microcavitations. Moreover, some physical properties and numerical calculations of the presented mathematical model for cavitation induced by lasers bubbles are deduced, analyzed and investigated. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd. 2024.

This study addresses the burgeoning demand for website data collection and analysis in business operations, emphasizing the pivotal role of web analytics in providing crucial insights into customer behaviour. Despite the prevalence of various website traffic analysing tools, there exists a notable lack of comprehensive testing on the precision and reliability of these services. The research compares four key analytics measures from Google Analytics (GA) with SimilarWeb (SW) using average monthly statistics over a one-year period for 50+ websites across different nations and business verticals. Employing various statistical tests, including paired t-tests, Shapiro-Wilk tests, and correlation analysis, the study reveals statistically significant variations in key metrics between GA and SW. Notably, SimilarWeb tends to provide lower estimates for the number of visits and unique visitors compared to Google Analytics. However, the findings underscore the potential complementarity of using both tools in cases where direct access to a site’s analytics is not feasible, particularly for competitive intelligence and benchmarking purposes. The study’s extensive statistical analysis covers unique visitors, total visits, bounce rates, and average session duration, offering valuable insights into the nuanced variations and potential sources of error. There are statistically significant differences between the two web traffic tools in terms of unique visitors, total visits, average session time & bounce rates. In comparison to Google Analytics, SimilarWeb figures were on average, 40% less for unique visitors, 50% greater for average session time, 25% greater for bounce rate, and 20% lesser for total visits. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2025.

In the women's community, Breast Cancer (BC) is a severe disease. The World Health Organization reported in 2020 that 2.26 million deaths occur due to BC. BC is curable if detected early. Since thermal imaging is non-invasive and supports disease detection, it is commonly used in clinics. Compared to other methods, it keeps BC early and accurate. The proposed work aims to evaluate the performance of the Pretrained Deep-Learning Methods (PDLM) in detecting BC using the thermal images collected from the benchmark dataset. It includes the following stages: primary image processing, deep feature mining, handcrafted feature mining, feature optimization using Firefly-Algorithm (FA), classification and validation. Visual Lab thermal images were used in the study. The investigational outcome of this study authenticates that the VGG16, along with the DT, provides better detection accuracy (95.5%) compared to other classifiers used in this study. To justify the significance of the implemented technique, the proposed work not only improved accuracy, but also improved precision, sensitivity, specificity, and F1-Scores. © 2023 The Authors. The development of data processing technologies, microelectronics and sensor systems allows for high-precision multiparametric analysis of biosignals in real time. The paper considers the problem of automating medical processes to reduce the influence of the human factor and increase the accuracy of diagnostics. An improved method of multiparametric analysis of biosignals is proposed for long-term monitoring of the state of the cardiovascular system using modern sensor devices, data processing algorithms and artificial intelligence technologies. The research is aimed at improving the methods of collecting, transmitting and analyzing biosignals, which contributes to the creation of personalized medical devices and effective prediction of cardiovascular pathologies. The issues of classification of devices and biosignals, as well as their mathematical modeling to increase the accuracy of diagnostics, are considered.

This work presents a chaotic image encryption algorithm that acts on the binary level of the image for effective permutation, and on the byte level for substitution. The permutation step combines actions of bit level rearranging, and bit shuffling. Circular shift operations are used for bit shuffling, to reduce the execution time. Circular shifts are also applied to shuffle the permutation and substitution rules, effectively increasing security at a very low execution cost. The encryption keys are plaintext dependent, and a key mixing step in included, so that each part of the key affects all the subsequent encryption operations. For the encryption, a new Soboleva hyperbolic tangent based map is first designed. The dynamical behavior of the map is studied and shows robust chaos, and an absence of equilibria, meaning that it can generate hidden attractors. This map is used as an entropy source, along with a chaotic pseudo random number generator (PRNG). The encryption process shows a good performance under a collection of tests, and has also a low execution time, 0.0134 sec for a $256\times 256$ image, 0.0530 sec for a $512\times 512$ image, and 0.2050 sec for a $1024\times 1024$ image. So the proposed algorithm is a viable option for fast, efficient, and secure data encryption.

The paper also provides specific examples of how federated learning can be used in the optimization of mobile networks and content delivery. The conclusion highlights the growing importance of federated learning in improving communication systems.
