Natural Language Processing nowadays provides scientists with many research areas and opportunities, but as with most applied sciences, our goal in Natural Language Processing is to refine the underlying science and technology until it can be used reliably for business purposes. Transformer models, such as GPT or BERT, are currently showing outstanding results in the field of natural-language processing, but they require huge computational power and data to teach, but these conditions can only be met by larger research centers and large companies, and their inaccuracy makes them unsuitable for use as a ‘business as usual’ (BAU) solution. In this paper, we present a solution that is able to overcome these problems by focusing on accuracy and usability, and that can also bring a new perspective to the process of teaching deep learning models.

BERGE’S CONJECTURE FOR CUBIC GRAPHS WITH SMALL COLOURING DEFECT

A long-standing conjecture of Berge suggests that every bridgeless cubic graph can be expressed as a union of at most five perfect matchings. This conjecture trivially holds for 3-edge-colourable cubic graphs, but remains widely open for graphs that are not 3-edge-colourable. The aim of this paper is to verify the validity of Berge’s conjecture for cubic graphs that are in a certain sense close to 3-edge-colourable graphs. We measure the closeness by looking at the colouring defect, which is defined as the minimum number of edges left uncovered by any collection of three perfect matchings. While 3-edge-colourable graphs have defect 0, every bridgeless cubic graph with no 3-edge-colouring has defect at least 3. In 2015, Steffen proved that the Berge conjecture holds for cyclically 4-edge-connected cubic graphs with colouring defect 3 or 4. Our aim is to improve Steffen’s result in two ways. We show that all bridgeless cubic graphs with defect 3 satisfy Berge’s conjecture irrespectively of their cyclic connectivity. If, additionally, the graph in question is cyclically 4-edge-connected, then four perfect matchings suffice, unless the graph is the Petersen graph. Concurrent with the rise of real-time wireless systems enabled by the Internet of Things, the age of information (AoI) has been widely perceived as a crucial destination-centric performance metric to quantify the timeliness of data delivery. This paper deals with the analysis of information freshness in a multi-source M/G/1 queueing system with utilization of idle server time, referred to as server vacation, in an effective manner. In particular, the status update packets in our model are generated independently by a finite set of source nodes and according to a Poisson process, while their service time follows a general random variable. Using stochastic decomposition and the Laplace-Stieltjes transform, we derive the average AoI (AAoI) expression for the multi-source M/G/1 queueing model with generally-distributed vacation time in closed form. Our numerical simulations validate the accuracy of the derived AAoI expression and assess the impact of different parameters on the system performance.

In the women's community, Breast Cancer (BC) is a severe disease. The World Health Organization reported in 2020 that 2.26 million deaths occur due to BC. BC is curable if detected early. Since thermal imaging is non-invasive and supports disease detection, it is commonly used in clinics. Compared to other methods, it keeps BC early and accurate. The proposed work aims to evaluate the performance of the Pretrained Deep-Learning Methods (PDLM) in detecting BC using the thermal images collected from the benchmark dataset. It includes the following stages: primary image processing, deep feature mining, handcrafted feature mining, feature optimization using Firefly-Algorithm (FA), classification and validation. Visual Lab thermal images were used in the study. The investigational outcome of this study authenticates that the VGG16, along with the DT, provides better detection accuracy (95.5%) compared to other classifiers used in this study. To justify the significance of the implemented technique, the proposed work not only improved accuracy, but also improved precision, sensitivity, specificity, and F1-Scores.

This work presents a numerical investigation of acoustic cavitation in Newtonian fluid based on frequency ultrasound. The model of ultrasonic cavitation dynamics is formulated by a modified Rayleigh-Plesset equation and an acoustic pressure equation. The exponential B-Spline collection method was employed to obtain the numerical solutions of the given cavitation bubble model, considering the effect of acoustic pressure. The behaviour of the cavitation microbubbles' radius and the internal pressure of acoustic cavitation were examined at different values of frequencies. The obtained results reveal the importance of frequencies in ultrasound, which play a vital role in changing the behaviour of cavitation bubbles.

This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning based on the warehouse environment, the mobile robot obstacle avoidance Algorithm. Firstly, the value function network is improved based on the pedestrian interaction. We can learn to obtain the relative importance of the current state and the historical trajectory state as well as the joint impact on the robot's obstacle avoidance strategy. Secondly, the reward function of reinforcement learning is designed based on the spatial behaviour of pedestrians, and the robot is punished for the state where the angle changes too much, so as to achieve the requirement of comfortable obstacle avoidance. Finally, the feasibility and effectiveness of the deep reinforcement learning-based mobile robot obstacle avoidance algorithm in the warehouse environment in the complex environment of the warehouse are verified through simulation experiments. © 2024 IEEE.

Using medical data to improve diagnosis accuracy has recently become common practice in hospitals. A modern computing environment has enabled real-time diagnosis of medical data using Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs). To extract and evaluate skin melanoma recorded with digital dermatoscopy images (DDI), we developed a CNN segmentation framework. In this proposal, four phases are proposed: (i) DDI collection and resizing, (ii) DDI enhancement using pre-processing techniques, (iii) CNN segmentation for lesion extraction, (v) Comparing the extracted sections to the ground truth images, and (v) Verifying whether the framework is valid. Using DDI pre-processed with (i) Traditional procedures, (ii) Otsu’s thresholding, (iii) Kapur’s thresholding, and (iv) Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding, this proposal examines the different CNN segmentation schemes presented in the literature. For mining skin lesions, the Moth-Flame Algorithm (MFA) combined with tri-level thresholding achieves an optimal threshold for the DDI. With Fuzzy-Tsallis thresholding images, the VGG-UNet performs better than the alternatives. This framework helps to achieve better values of Jaccard (88.47±2.13%), Dice (93.08±1.17%), and Accuracy (98.64±0.71%) on the chosen DDI database.

This paper introduces a new method for managing fire hydrants that uses a monitoring system based on the Internet of Things (IoT) and a Naive Bayes Classifier (NBC) for predictive maintenance. Water pressure, flow rate, and the physical state of fire hydrants are among the essential factors for the proposed system continually collecting data using an IoT sensor network. The system analyzes real-time data using NBC. These predictive capabilities reduce the potential of hydrant breakdowns during emergencies through preventive maintenance potential. It introduces a reliable IoT infrastructure for fire hydrant monitoring, improving the acquired data's granularity and timeliness. NBC provides a powerful instrument for early problem detection, significantly improving maintenance effectiveness. Since the technology is compatible with existing fire department procedures, it can easily integrate into current operational processes. Better public safety, more efficient use of resources, and more dependable fire hydrants are potential outcomes of responsive and proactive data-driven maintenance techniques. The findings improve overall fire safety and operational efficiency, with a 25% decrease in maintenance expenditures and a 40% increase in issue detection accuracy.

computerized disease detection systems (CDDs) have proven effective for automatic screening in recent years. Among the standard procedures in hospitals for faster and more accurate diagnosis is medical imaging-based disease screening. We aim to develop a CDD that detects COVID-19 using chest X-rays pre-trained vision transformers (PVTs). This scheme includes the following steps: (1) collecting images and resizing them, (2) implementing PVT for feature extraction, and (3) binary classifying the results and validating the proposed schemes. To prove the merit of the developed scheme, 4800 images (2400 normal and 2400 COVID-19) are analyzed. MLP classifiers verify the PVT performance using patch sizes of 6, 12, and 24. A patch size 24 results in 97.5% accuracy for the proposed CDD system. When patch sizes are increased to 12, accuracy increases to over 98%. For this specific task, smaller patch sizes are more effective. These high-accuracy results demonstrate the effectiveness of the developed scheme for detecting COVID-19 in chest X-rays.

Automatic liver-vessel examination from CT slice using Kapur’s thresholding and watershed algorithm

computerized medical image examination (CMIE) plays a significant role in modern hospitals to achieve the necessary tasks, like segmentation and classification. By segmenting an image, we can extract a particular section for examination. A two-dimensional computed tomography (CT) slice was used for liver-vessel examination (LiVE). A simple automatic technique for supporting LiVE is being developed in this research. A CT slice is collected, a 3D to 2D conversion is done, (ii) Kapur’s tri-level thresholding and Hummingbird-Optimizer is used to enhance the CT slice, (iii) the watershed algorithm (WA) is used to extract the vessel, and (iv) the WA is compared and verified against the segmentation methods chosen. WA provides better segmentation results than other methods because it is an automatic approach. Using the chosen image database, the proposed technique achieves an overall segmentation accuracy of >97%. Other segmentation problems can be used in the future to verify the merit of this scheme.
