Color-avoiding percolation in edge-colored Erdős–Rényi graphs

We study a variant of the color-avoiding percolation model introduced by Krause et al., namely we investigate the color-avoiding bond percolation setup on (not necessarily properly) edge-colored Erd̋ os–Rényi random graphs. We say that two vertices are color-avoiding connected in an edge-colored graph if after the removal of the edges of any color, they are in the same component in the remaining graph. The color-avoiding connected components of an edge-colored graph are maximal sets of vertices such that any two of them are color-avoiding connected. We consider the fraction of vertices contained in color-avoiding connected components of a given size as well as the fraction of vertices contained in the giant color-avoiding connected component. Under some mild assumptions on the color-densities, we prove that these quantities converge and the limits can be expressed in terms of probabilities associated to edge-colored branching process trees. We provide explicit formulas for the limit of the normalized size of the giant color-avoiding connected component, and in the two-colored case we also provide explicit formulas for the limit of the fraction of vertices contained in color-avoiding connected components of a given size. Ising machines have attracted attention as efficient solvers for combinatorial optimization problems, which are formulated as ground-state (lowest-energy) search problems of the Ising model. Due to the limited bit-width of coefficients on Ising machines, the Ising model must be transformed into a bit-width reduced (BWR) Ising model. According to previous research, the bit-width reduction method, which adds auxiliary spins, ensures that the ground state of the BWR Ising model is theoretically the same as the Ising model before bit-width reduction (original Ising model). However, while the dynamical process is closely related to solution accuracy, how the BWR Ising model progresses towards the ground state remains to be elucidated. Therefore, we compared the dynamical processes of these models using simulated annealing (SA). Our findings reveal significant differences in the dynamical process across models. Analysis from the viewpoint of statistical mechanics found that the BWR Ising model has two characteristic properties: an effective temperature and a slow relaxation. These properties alter the temperature schedule and spin flip probability in the BWR Ising model, leading to differences in the dynamical process. Therefore, to obtain the same dynamical process as the original Ising model, we proposed SA parameters for the BWR Ising model. We demonstrated the proposed SA parameters using a square lattice Ising model, in which all coefficients were set uniformly to the same positive values or randomly. In recent decade, the research in nanotechnology brought the idea of nanofluids which are highly conducting materials. Some important applications of nanofluids are justified in pharmaceutical industry, coolants in vehicles engine, preparation process of various medicines for treatment of fatal diseases like cancer, aircraft industry, latest heat exchangers etc. The ferro particles are special class of nanomaterial which attract variety of interest from the researchers. The objective of current research is to perform the investigation for heat and mass transfer subject to Carreau nanofluid to observe the enhancement of heat transmission phenomena. The induction of magnetic dipole has been observed for thermal transport phenomenon. The flow is causing by stretched surface. A simplified system is obtained by utilizing the dimensionless variables. Physical interpretation of results have been presented. Result showed that temperature profile in presence of ferrofluid fluid boosts up with escalation in thermophoresis parameter, while opposite behavior is noted for power law index. The concentration of ferrofluid showing declining behavior for Schmidt numbers and rises for thermophoresis parameter. © 2024

The paper deals with automatic software-based test generation for processors as basic blocks of current complex systems on chip and embedded systems. Testing processors needs continually new test generation methods, algorithms and test application techniques for their verification, manufacture and infield testing and reliable life-time run. The functional tests of processors are mainly generated over an instruction set architecture and processor model description. Such types of tests are serving as additional tests to structural testing or as tests used in verification. They run in similar form and frequency as real programmes. Such tests are categorized as the software-based self tests. A metric for quality evaluation of the software-based tests is obviously provided by code coverage of a processor model. A functional test generation method is based on VHDL model of processors and genetic algorithms with using various evolutionary strategies. The contribution to the SBST methods based on GAs using the latest defined ES was identified. Functionality and effectiveness of the developed methods were evaluated in the implemented system AGenMIX with enhanced function of genetic algorithms computation over three types of RISC processor.

Let G be a graph. We introduce the acyclic b-chromatic number of G as an analogue to the b-chromatic number of G. An acyclic coloring of a graph G is a map c: V (G) → {1,..., k} such that c(u) ≠ c(v) for any uv ∈ E(G) and the induced subgraph on vertices of any two colors i, j ∈ {1,..., k} induces a forest. On the set of all acyclic colorings of G we define a relation whose transitive closure is a strict partial order. The minimum cardinality of its minimal element is then the acyclic chromatic number A(G) of G and the maximum cardinality of its minimal element is the acyclic b-chromatic number Ab(G) of G. We present several properties of Ab(G). Over the last few decades, nonlinear optics has become significantly more nonlinear, traversing nearly a billionfold improvement in energy efficiency, with ultrafast nonlinear nanophotonics in particular emerging as a frontier for combining both spatial and temporal engineering. At present, cutting-edge experiments in nonlinear nanophotonics place us just above the mesoscopic regime, where a few hundred photons suffice to trigger nonlinear saturation. In contrast to classical or deep-quantum optics, the mesoscale is characterized by dynamical interactions between mean-field, Gaussian, and non-Gaussian quantum features, all within a close hierarchy of scales. When combined with the inherent multimode complexity of optical fields, such hybrid quantum-classical dynamics present theoretical, experimental, and engineering challenges to the contemporary framework of quantum optics. In this review, we highlight the unique physics that emerges in multimode nonlinear optics at the mesoscale and outline key principles for exploiting both classical and quantum features to engineer novel functionalities. We briefly survey the experimental landscape and draw attention to outstanding technical challenges in materials, dispersion engineering, and device design for accessing mesoscopic operation. Finally, we speculate on how these capabilities might usher in some new paradigms in quantum photonics, from quantum-augmented information processing to nonclassical-light-driven dynamics and phenomena to all-optical non-Gaussian measurement and sensing. The physics unlocked at the mesoscale present significant challenges and opportunities in theory and experiment alike, and this review is intended to serve as a guidepost as we begin to navigate this new frontier in ultrafast quantum nonlinear optics. In low- and middle-income countries, the substantial costs associated with traditional data collection pose an obstacle to facilitating decision-making in the field of public health. Satellite imagery offers a potential solution, but the image extraction and analysis can be costly and requires specialized expertise. We introduce SatelliteBench, a scalable framework for satellite image extraction and vector embeddings generation. We also propose a novel multimodal fusion pipeline that utilizes a series of satellite imagery and metadata. The framework was evaluated generating a dataset with a collection of 12,636 images and embeddings accompanied by comprehensive metadata, from 81 municipalities in Colombia between 2016 and 2018. The dataset was then evaluated in 3 tasks: including dengue case prediction, poverty assessment, and access to education. The performance showcases the versatility and practicality of SatelliteBench, offering a reproducible, accessible and open tool to enhance decision-making in public health. © The Author(s) 2024.

The Panopticon (which means "watcher of everything") is a well-known structure of continuous surveillance and discipline proposed by Bentham in 1785. This device was, later, used by Foucault and other philosophers as a paradigm and metaphor for the study of constitutional power and knowledge as well as a model of individuals’ deprivation of freedom. Nowadays, technological achievements have given rise to new, non-physical (unlike prisons), means of constant surveillance that transcend physical boundaries. This, combined with the confession of some governmental institutions that they actually collaborate with these Internet giants to collect or deduce information about people, creates a worrisome situation of several co-existing Panopticons that can act separately or in close collaboration. Thus, they can only be detected and identified through the expense of (perhaps considerable) effort. In this paper we provide a theoretical framework for studying the detectability status of Panopticons that fall under two theoretical, but not unrealistic, definitions. We show, using Oracle Turing Machines, that detecting modern day, ICT-based, Panopticons is an undecidable problem. Furthermore, we show that for each sufficiently expressive formal system, we can effectively construct a Turing Machine for which it is impossible to prove, within the formal system, either that it is a Panopticon or it is not a Panopticon. © 2021, CC BY.
