Cervical cancer is one of the most common causes of death among women worldwide. However, this fatal disease can be treated, and the mortality rate can be decreased if detected at an early stage. The Papanicolaou test is the gold standard for screening cervical cancer patients. However, the process of manual inspection is tedious and subject to manual errors. Thus, computer-based automatic screening is considered a viable alternative. To this end, in the present work, we have developed a novel system for classifying cervical cancer images as either normal or malignant. We have used the Herlev dataset in this study, which is the standard Pap smear image benchmark dataset. The proposed framework uses multiple base deep learning frameworks, namely Vision Transformer, Xception, VGG-19, VGG-16, and ResNet-101, for classification. Further, we have introduced a novel reward-based weighing technique to decide the weights of individual classifiers, which are, in turn, used to make decisions about the final class label of an input image using the weighted average technique. The proposed framework achieves an overall accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC of 96%, 94%, 92%, 93%, and 94%, respectively, for the binary classification task that is normal vs. malignant. An elaborate study of the performance achieved by our proposed framework on the Herlev dataset shows it to be both robust and effective for the Pap smear image classification task. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The use of blockchain technologies and Smart contracts to improve the quality of Microgrid network management is considered. The necessity of using a special mathematical apparatus for system analysis is noted, taking into account the nonlinear nature of dynamic processes in the network and, in particular, the presence of sharply changes in the load. The advantages and disadvantages of the approach known in the literature are analyzed, when the search for the optimal power distribution among generators to ensure the minimum costs of the Microgrid is carried out on the basis of nonlinear programming methods. Graphs of transient processes in the network are given and their corresponding analysis is carried out.

The theses is in line with works aimed at studying the possibility of using mathematical algorithms for parallel processing of information in reverse blockchain technology. The paper examines the use of parallel signal processing algorithms to improve the speed and quality of control systems for autonomous dynamic objects using reverse blockchain technology. The use of reverse blockchain technology is due to the possibility of loss of control signals and, at the same time, the inadmissibility of loss of control in the event of changes in the conditions and parameters of the operation of the obj ect. The purpose of the work is to analyze the implementation of solutions for parallel information processing for various models of industrially produced equipment and to develop solutions to increase the efficiency of reverse blockchain technology when using parallel data processing.

Sport action recognition is an interesting area in computer vision. Categorization of sport actions, representing difficult and complex body postures, is regarded as a fine-grained visual classification problem. The Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have attained enhanced performance over conventional feature descriptors in recognizing various sport activities. In general, though decent improvement has been gained using deep learning for sport action recognition, however, recognition of women’s sport activities is not widely explored. Even, no benchmark dataset depicting women’s sport action with sufficient variations is available yet for study. Hence, fine-grained image classification of diverse sport categories involving female/women athletics requires immediate research attention. To overcome this limitation, this paper proposes an image dataset comprising worldwide popular 50 sport categories of women players only. A simple deep learning model is proposed that extracts the high-level deep features using a backbone CNN. Then, these features are pooled from a collection of regular regions representing local discriminative information. The spatial pyramid pooling is applied for mining semantic information and enhancing feature aggregation for classification. The proposed method has achieved satisfactory performance on the Women Sports dataset using four standard backbone CNNs. Moreover, our method has achieved better accuracy on the Yoga-82 pose recognition dataset with a significant margin, e.g., 11.6% gain using ResNet-50 base CNN. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2024.

The issue of modeling holds significant importance for the applicability of control theory, particularly at higher control levels where the verbal description of control objects becomes increasingly crucial. However, a notable disadvantage of such verbal descriptions is the inherent ambiguity and vagueness of the obtained results. This article aims to address this challenge by proposing an approach that utilizes Petri nets (PN) to model and control a specific component within an intelligent home. Additionally, the Simulink modeling tool and Petri net analysis tools are introduced as aids in the modeling process. The article focuses on creating a model that accurately represents the temperature regulation system in the home, considering the constant rise in energy consumption and costs. Furthermore, the transfer of the model to the Simulink environment using IF THEN rules is demonstrated, allowing for an evaluation of its performance. Through the comprehensive application of this approach, the aim is to optimize energy usage and reduce costs within household environments. © 2023 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Natural Language Processing nowadays provides scientists with many research areas and opportunities, but as with most applied sciences, our goal in Natural Language Processing is to refine the underlying science and technology until it can be used reliably for business purposes. Transformer models, such as GPT or BERT, are currently showing outstanding results in the field of natural-language processing, but they require huge computational power and data to teach, but these conditions can only be met by larger research centers and large companies, and their inaccuracy makes them unsuitable for use as a 'business as usual' (BAU) solution. In this paper, we present a solution that is able to overcome these problems by focusing on accuracy and usability, and that can also bring a new perspective to the process of teaching deep learning models. © 2023 IEEE.

In this article, we consider the case in which a swarm of robots collaborates in a mission, where a few of the robots behave maliciously. These malicious Byzantine robots may be temporally or constantly controlled by an adversary. The scope is synchronized full information robot operations, where a robot that does not follow the program/policy of the swarm is immediately identified and can be remembered as Byzantine. As robots may be suspected of being Byzantine due to benign temporal malfunctions, it is imperative to forgive and forget, otherwise, a robot cannot assume collaborative actions with any other robot in the swarm. Still, remembering for a while may facilitate a policy of surrounding, isolating and freezing the movement of the misbehaving robots, by several robots, allowing the rest to perform the swarm task with no intervention. We demonstrate the need to periodically forgive and forget to realize swarm several tasks including patrolling/cleaning in the presence of possible Byzantine robots. The policy for achieving the task consists of blocking the movement of the Byzantine robot(s) by some of the robots, while the rest patrol/clean the plane. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Metamorphic testing is a testing method for problems without test oracles. Integration testing allows for detecting errors in complex systems that may not be found during the testing of their components. In this paper, we propose a novel approach that applies metamorphic testing in integration testing. The main idea is to develop a composite metamorphic relation for the system represented as an acyclic graph. This relation is a logical function of metamorphic relations for the parts of the system (vertices of the graph). It takes into account the features of the parts. Also, it can simplify the search for failure by identifying the subsystem with error. In this paper's theoretical part, we describe an algorithm of relation design. Then, we apply our method to a bioinformatics system for comparative genetic analysis of tissues using production tools. This experiment proves our method can be applied to real-life pipelines and find errors in them. © 2022 ACM.
