Multi-view data are commonly encountered in data mining applications. Effective extraction of information from multi-view data requires specific design of clustering methods to cater for data with multiple views, which is non-trivial and challenging. In this paper, we propose a novel one-step multi-view clustering method by exploiting the dual representation of both the common and specific information of different views. The motivation originates from the rationale that multi-view data contain not only the consistent knowledge between views but also the unique knowledge of each view. Meanwhile, to make the representation learning more specific to the clustering task, a one-step learning framework is proposed to integrate representation learning and clustering partition as a whole. With this framework, the representation learning and clustering partition mutually benefit each other, which effectively improves the clustering performance. Results from extensive experiments conducted on benchmark multi-view datasets clearly demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method. Copyright © 2022, The Authors. All rights reserved.

The Coronavirus, known as COVID-19, which appeared in 2019 in China, has significantly affected the global health and become a huge burden on health institutions all over the world. These effects are continuing today. One strategy for limiting the virus's transmission is to have an early diagnosis of suspected cases and take appropriate measures before the disease spreads further. This work aims to diagnose and show the probability of getting infected by the disease according to textual clinical data. In this work, we used five machine learning techniques (GWO_MLP, GWO_CMLP, MGWO_MLP, FDO_MLP, FDO_CMLP) all of which aim to classify Covid-19 patients into two categories (Positive and Negative). Experiments showed promising results for all used models. The applied methods showed very similar performance, typically in terms of accuracy. However, in each tested dataset, FDO_MLP and FDO_CMLP produced the best results with 100% accuracy. The other models' results varied from one experiment to the other. It is concluded that the models on which the FDO algorithm was used as a learning algorithm had the possibility of obtaining higher accuracy. An out-of-band mobile authenticating mechanism for controlling access to data outsourced in the mobile cloud environment

'Mobile Cloud Computing' (MCC), a cloud environment, formed by mobile users at the client-side and cloud servers at the back-end enables users to store and pervasively access a huge amount of data via different mobile devices in a distributive manner. This increases the risk of data abuse, since data is outsourced on the distrusted cloud servers. The drawbacks of the current frameworks, such as overloaded computations in key distribution, reduced flexibility, and scalability, are unable to achieve fine-graininess and confidentiality. Thus, we propose an 'access control mechanism' which is lightweight with minimal computational overhead and provides fine-grained access control for sharing data using out-of-band (OOB) mobile authentication. Here we perform client-side encryption and decryption using simple hash functions and concatenation operator and achieve dynamic scalability. The encryption algorithms, sharing mechanism, and the use of OOB mobile authentication are extensively analysed to prove its efficiency and applicability. © 2019 Inderscience Enterprises Ltd.

The “Sentinel Rover (SR)” is a state-of-the-art, wirelessly operated land rover intended to revolutionize mine clearance operations in high-risk terrains. The rover, equipped with cutting-edge sensor technology, seeks to detect and warn of planted land explosives, mitigating dangers to human personnel. It can transverse rocky terrains and withstand potential explosives due to its robust chassis and agile mobility. The rover's sensor suite includes metal detectors, ground-penetrating radar, thermal imaging, acoustic and optical sensors, ensuring comprehensive mine detection. data processing and fusion methods increase precision and decrease false positives. When the system detects a potential land mine, it transmits alerts to remote operators or command centers via various communication technologies. With safety mechanisms to prevent accidental detonations and non-ignitable components, the SR operates with the highest dependability and durability. While the automaton is vital, human expertise is essential for mission planning and decision-making. The SR provides a safer and more effective method for addressing land mine hazards.

Promptable segmentation foundation models have emerged as a transformative approach to addressing the diverse needs in medical images, but most existing models require expensive computing, posing a big barrier to their adoption in clinical practice. In this work, we organized the first international competition dedicated to promptable medical image segmentation, featuring a large-scale dataset spanning nine common imaging modalities from over 20 different institutions. The top teams developed lightweight segmentation foundation models and implemented an efficient inference pipeline that substantially reduced computational requirements while maintaining state-of-the-art segmentation accuracy. Moreover, the post-challenge phase advanced the algorithms through the design of performance booster and reproducibility tasks, resulting in improved algorithms and validated reproducibility of the winning solution. Furthermore, the best-performing algorithms have been incorporated into the open-source software with a user-friendly interface to facilitate clinical adoption. The data and code are publicly available to foster the further development of medical image segmentation foundation models and pave the way for impactful real-world applications. © 2024, CC BY-NC-SA.

Quantum computing is poised to solve practically useful problems which are computationally intractable for classical supercomputers. However, the current generation of quantum computers are limited by errors that may only partially be mitigated by developing higher-quality qubits. Quantum error correction (QEC) will thus be necessary to ensure fault tolerance. QEC protects the logical information by cyclically measuring syndrome information about the errors. An essential part of QEC is the decoder, which uses the syndrome to compute the likely effect of the errors on the logical degrees of freedom and provide a tentative correction. The decoder must be accurate, fast enough to keep pace with the QEC cycle (e.g., on a microsecond timescale for superconducting qubits) and with hard real-time system integration to support logical operations. As such, real-time decoding is essential to realize fault-tolerant quantum computing and to achieve quantum advantage. In this work, we highlight some of the key challenges facing the implementation of real-time decoders while providing a succinct summary of the progress to-date. Furthermore, we lay out our perspective for the future development and provide a possible roadmap for the field of real-time decoding in the next few years. As the quantum hardware is anticipated to scale up, this perspective article will provide a guidance for researchers, focusing on the most pressing issues in real-time decoding and facilitating the development of solutions across quantum and computer science. Given the need to elucidate the mechanisms underlying illnesses and their treatment, as well as the lack of harmonization of acquisition and post-processing protocols among different magnetic resonance system vendors, this work is to determine if metabolite concentrations obtained from different sessions, machine models and even different vendors of 3 T scanners can be highly reproducible and be pooled for diagnostic analysis, which is very valuable for the research of rare diseases. Participants underwent magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning once on two separate days within one week (one session per day, each session including two proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) scans with no more than a 5-minute interval between scans (no off-bed activity)) on each machine. were analyzed for reliability of within- and between sessions using the coefficient of variation (CV) and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC), and for reproducibility of across the machines using correlation coefficient. Plant diseases pose significant challenges to farmers and the agricultural sector at large. However, early detection of plant diseases is crucial to mitigating their effects and preventing widespread damage, as outbreaks can severely impact the productivity and quality of crops. With advancements in technology, there are increasing opportunities for automating the monitoring and detection of disease outbreaks in plants. This study proposed a system designed to identify and monitor plant diseases using a transfer learning approach. Specifically, the study utilizes YOLOv7 and YOLOv8, two state-of-the-art models in the field of object detection. By fine-tuning these models on a dataset of plant leaf images, the system is able to accurately detect the presence of Bacteria, Fungi and Viral diseases such as Powdery Mildew, Angular Leaf Spot, Early blight and Tomato mosaic virus. The model's performance was evaluated using several metrics, including mean Average Precision (mAP), F1-score, Precision, and Recall, yielding values of 91.05, 89.40, 91.22, and 87.66, respectively. The result demonstrates the superior effectiveness and efficiency of YOLOv8 compared to other object detection methods, highlighting its potential for use in modern agricultural practices. The approach provides a scalable, automated solution for early any plant disease detection, contributing to enhanced crop yield, reduced reliance on manual monitoring, and supporting sustainable agricultural practices. © The Author(s) 2025.

Recent progress in material data mining has been driven by high-capacity models trained on large ***,collecting experimental data(real data)has been extremely costly owing to the amount of human effort and expertise ***,we develop a novel transfer learning strategy to address problems of small or insufficient *** strategy realizes the fusion of real and simulated data and the augmentation of training data in a data mining *** a specific task of grain instance image segmentation,this strategy aims to generate synthetic data by fusing the images obtained from simulating the physical mechanism of grain formation and the“image style”information in real *** results show that the model trained with the acquired synthetic data and only 35%of the real data can already achieve competitive segmentation performance of a model trained on all of the real *** the time required to perform grain simulation and to generate synthetic data are almost negligible as compared to the effort for obtaining real data,our proposed strategy is able to exploit the strong prediction power of deep learning without significantly increasing the experimental burden of training data preparation.
