The increasing demands on interactive algorithm visualisations that can be effectively used in learning, teaching and research, as well as the lack of up-to-date visualisation systems calls for a new modern architecture for universal algorithm visualisation systems (AVS). Defining a new architecture requires an extensive analysis of existing AVS and specifying key requirements, which the architecture has to meet. Analysing current AVS and comparing them to each other, we came to the decision that there is a great potential for designing and implementing a new universal and extensible modern architecture. Based on our analysis and motivated by the decreasing interest on algorithm improvisations by both developers and faculty over the last few years, we have developed and implemented a generic architecture that we briefly present in this work. The application of this architecture simplifies the creation process of pedagogically effective visualisations of arbitrary algorithms and data structures.

Moving object segmentation techniques are fundamental and crucial for video surveillance. In this paper, we abandoned the traditional background differential model approach which ignores the foreground modeling, and address this problem under the Bayesian framework. Our major contribution can be summarized as, modeling the background and foreground competitively to augment the segmentation accuracy, implementing the prior information to enforce spatial-temporal consistency, and introducing the Monte Carlo importance sampling techniques which effectively reduces the computation complexity while guarantees the expected veracity. Promising results demonstrate the potentials of the proposed framework.

This paper presents a robust visual tracking algorithm by exploiting global and local objectpsilas information under a particle filter tracking framework. The proposed algorithm utilize a two-stage cascade scheme to update the particles within the state space in a coarse to fine manner. At the first stage, the object state is estimated by a coarse search using global color statistics. Then a refined estimate is achieved through exploring the local binary pattern feature. To overcome the problem of poor priors in the conventional particle filter which uses system transition as the proposal distribution, we use the state estimation made at the first stage to construct the proposal distribution that seamlessly integrates the current observation. Experimental results demonstrate the efficiency and accuracy of the proposed algorithm.

In general, a duplicated or tampered one of document can be obtained by duplicating machine. How to distinguish watermark quality from the first printing document and the duplicated or tampered one? In this paper we introduce a document watermarking arithmetic which is robust to copying. The arithmetic is based on the FMT transformation. The document is regarded as one image and is embedded 8 digitals. Experiments results show that the scheme can resist first printing and scan process. Furthermore watermark cannot be extracted from the duplicated or tampered one.

A growing number of applications depend on accurate and fast 3D scene analysis. Examples are object recognition, collision prevention, 3D modeling, mixed reality, and gesture recognition. The estimation of a range map by image analysis or laser scan techniques is still a time- consuming and expensive part of such systems. A lower-priced, fast and robust alternative for distance measurements are time-of-flight (ToF) cameras. Recently, significant improvements have been made in order to achieve low-cost and compact ToF-devices, that have the potential to revolutionize many fields of research, including computer vision, computergraphics and human computer interaction (HCI). These technologies are starting to have an impact on research and commercial applications. The upcoming generation of ToF sensors, however, will be even more powerful and will have the potential to become "ubiquitous geometry devices" for gaming, web-conferencing, and numerous other applications. This paper will give an account of some recent developments in ToF-technology and will discuss applications of this technology for vision, graphics, and HCI.

With the rapid development of embedded system, distributed and mobile computing technologies, more and more intelligent space are establishing around us, such as smart meeting room, smart home, intelligent museum, digital library and so on. Meanwhile, ubiquitous computing has received an intensive interest in the past years. Many models have been proposed. How to utilize these models to enhance those intelligent spaces is a challenging research problem. We have introduced the prototype of rich servants service (RSS) model (Shi et al., 2007). In this paper, we will extend the RSS model to fulfill those intelligent spaces. The model defines elements, interfaces, agents, services discovery and other facts related to the system. Through a case, we show how to combine the RSS model with real-world applications.
