The first search for supersymmetry in events with an experimental signature of one soft, hadronically decaying τ lepton, one energetic jet from initial-state radiation, and large transverse momentum imbalance is presented. These event signatures are consistent with direct or indirect production of scalar τ leptons (τ˜) in supersymmetric models that exhibit coannihilation between the τ˜ and the lightest neutralino (χ˜10), and that could generate the observed relic density of dark matter. The data correspond to an integrated luminosity of 77.2 fb−1 of proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV collected with the CMS detector at the LHC in 2016 and 2017. The results are interpreted in a supersymmetric scenario with a small mass difference (Δm) between the chargino (χ˜1±) or next-to-lightest neutralino (χ˜20), and the χ˜10. The mass of the τ˜ is assumed to be the average of the χ˜1± and χ˜10 masses. The data are consistent with standard model background predictions. Upper limits at 95% confidence level are set on the sum of the χ˜1±, χ˜20, and τ˜ production cross sections for Δm(χ˜1±,χ˜10)=50 GeV, resulting in a lower limit of 290 GeV on the mass of the χ˜1±, which is the most stringent to date and surpasses the bounds from the LEP experiments.

For several decades, the origin of ultra-high-energy cosmic rays (UHECRs) has been an unsolved question of high-energy astrophysics. One approach for solving this puzzle is to correlate UHECRs with high-energy neutrinos, since neutrinos are a direct probe of hadronic interactions of cosmic rays and are not deflected by magnetic fields. In this paper, we present three different approaches for correlating the arrival directions of neutrinos with the arrival directions of UHECRs. The neutrino data is provided by the IceCube Neutrino Observatory and ANTARES, while the UHECR data with energies above ∼50 EeV is provided by the Pierre Auger Observatory and the Telescope Array. All experiments provide increased statistics and improved reconstructions with respect to our previous results reported in 2015. The first analysis uses a high-statistics neutrino sample optimized for point-source searches to search for excesses of neutrinos clustering in the vicinity of UHECR directions. The second analysis searches for an excess of UHECRs in the direction of the highest-energy neutrinos. The third analysis searches for an excess of pairs of UHECRs and highest-energy neutrinos on different angular scales. None of the analyses has found a significant excess, and previously reported over-fluctuations are reduced in significance. The forward-backward asymmetry in Drell–Yan production and the effective leptonic electroweak mixing angle are measured in proton-proton collisions at s=13 TeV, collected by the CMS experiment and corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 138fb⁻¹. The measurement uses both dimuon and dielectron events, and is performed as a function of the dilepton mass and rapidity. The unfolded angular coefficient A₄ is also extracted, as a function of the dilepton mass and rapidity. Using the CT18Z set of parton distribution functions, we obtain sin²⁡θ_eff^ℓ=0.23152±0.00031, where the uncertainty includes the experimental and theoretical contributions. The measured value agrees with the standard model fit result to global experimental data. This is the most precise sin²⁡θ_eff^ℓ measurement at a hadron collider, with a precision comparable to the results obtained at LEP and SLD. © 2025 CERN for the benefit of the CMS Collaboration

A search for the production of three massive vector bosons, VVZ(V=W,Z), in proton–proton collisions at s=13 TeV is performed using data with an integrated luminosity of 140 fb⁻¹ recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events produced in the leptonic final states WWZ→ℓνℓνℓℓ (ℓ=e,μ), WZZ→ℓνℓℓℓℓ, ZZZ→ℓℓℓℓℓℓ, and the semileptonic final states WWZ→qqℓνℓℓ and WZZ→ℓνqqℓℓ, are analysed. The measured cross section for the pp→VVZ process is 660₋₉₀⁺⁹³(stat.)₋₈₁⁺⁸⁸(syst.) fb, and the observed (expected) significance is 6.4 (4.7) standard deviations, representing the observation of VVZ production. In addition, the measured cross section for the pp→WWZ process is 442±94(stat.)₋₅₂⁺⁶⁰(syst.) fb, and the observed (expected) significance is 4.4 (3.6) standard deviations, representing evidence of WWZ production. The measured cross sections are consistent with the Standard Model predictions. Constraints on physics beyond the Standard Model are also derived in the effective field theory framework by setting limits on Wilson coefficients for dimension-8 operators describing anomalous quartic gauge boson couplings. © 2025 CERN for the benefit of the ATLAS Collaboration

This paper presents the measurement of charged-hadron and identified-hadron (KS0, Λ, Ξ−) yields in photonuclear collisions using 1.7nb−1 of sNN=5.02TeV Pb+Pb data collected in 2018 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Candidate photonuclear events are selected using a combination of tracking and calorimeter information, including the zero-degree calorimeter. The yields as a function of transverse momentum and rapidity are measured in these photonuclear collisions as a function of charged-particle multiplicity. These photonuclear results are compared with 0.1nb−1 of sNN=5.02TeV p+Pb data collected in 2016 by ATLAS using similar charged-particle multiplicity selections. These photonuclear measurements shed light on potential quark-gluon plasma formation in photonuclear collisions via observables sensitive to radial flow, enhanced baryon-to-meson ratios, and strangeness enhancement. The results are also compared with the Monte Carlo dpmjet-iii generator and hydrodynamic calculations to test whether such photonuclear collisions may produce small droplets of quark-gluon plasma that flow collectively.

Today, the need for interaction and visualization techniques to fulfill user requirements for collaborative work is ever increasing. Current approaches do not suffice since they do not consider the simultaneous work of participating users, different views of the data being analyzed, or the exchange of information between different data emphases. We introduce Intuitive Collaboration (IN2CO), a scalable visualization framework that supports decision-making processes concerning multilevels and multi-roles. IN2CO improves the state of the art by integrating ubiquitous technologies and existing techniques to explore and manipulate data and dependencies collaboratively. A prototype has been tested by mechanical engineers with expertise in factory planning. Preliminary results imply that IN2CO supports communication and decision-making in a team-oriented manner. © 2016 The Author(s) Eurographics Proceedings © 2016 The Eurographics Association.

In this publication, the interactive planning and reconstruction of cranial 3D Implants under the medical prototyping platform MeVisLab as alternative to commercial planning software is introduced. In doing so, a MeVisLab prototype consisting of a customized data-flow network and an own C++ module was set up. As a result, the computer-Aided Design (CAD) software prototype guides a user through the whole workflow to generate an implant. Therefore, the workflow begins with loading and mirroring the patients head for an initial curvature of the implant. Then, the user can perform an additional Laplacian smoothing, followed by a Delaunay triangulation. The result is an aesthetic looking and well-fitting 3D implant, which can be stored in a CAD file format, e.g. STereoLithography (STL), for 3D printing. The 3D printed implant can finally be used for an in-depth pre-surgical evaluation or even as a real implant for the patient. In a nutshell, our research and development shows that a customized MeVisLab software prototype can be used as an alternative to complex commercial planning software, which may also not be available in every clinic. MeerKAT’s large number (64) of 13.5 m-diameter antennas, spanning 8 km with a densely packed 1 km core, create a powerful instrument for wide-area surveys, with high sensitivity over a wide range of angular scales. The MeerKAT Galaxy Cluster Legacy Survey (MGCLS) is a programme of long-track MeerKAT L-band (900–1670 MHz) observations of 115 galaxy clusters, observed for ∼ 6–10 hours each in full polarisation. The first legacy product data release (DR1), made available with this paper, includes the MeerKAT visibilities, basic image cubes at ∼ 800 resolution, and enhanced spectral and polarisation image cubes at ∼ 800 and 1500 resolutions. Typical sensitivities for the full-resolution MGCLS image products range over ∼ 3–5 µJy beam−1. The basic cubes are full-field and span 2◦ × 2◦. The enhanced products consist of the inner 1.2◦ × 1.2◦ field of view, corrected for the primary beam. The survey is fully sensitive to structures up to ∼ 100 scales and the wide bandwidth allows spectral and Faraday rotation mapping. Relatively narrow frequency channels (209 kHz) are also used to provide H i mapping in windows of 0 200. We find no dependence of the star formation rate on distance from the cluster centre, and observe a small excess of the radio-to-100 µm flux ratio towards the centre of Abell 209 that may reflect a ram pressure enhancement in the denser environment. We detect diffuse cluster radio emission in 62 of the surveyed systems and present a catalogue of the 99 diffuse cluster emission structures, of which 56 are new. These include mini-halos, halos, relics, and other diffuse structures for which no suitable characterization currently exists. We highlight some of the radio galaxies which challenge current paradigms such as trident-shaped structures, jets that remain well-collimated far beyond their bending radius, and filamentary features linked to radio galaxies that likely illuminate magnetic flux tubes in the intracluster medium.
