Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are used in various contexts and offer a wide range of applications, despite being a decentralized, resource-scarce network type;this is why this study deals with the problem of malicious nodes. Identifying such nodes is important to preventing the compromise of the network and all the nodes in it. In this paper, a comparative study of two popular classifiers named Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Random Forest (RF) in order to detect hostile nodes in WSNs. By nature, a malicious node in a network will cause significant problems to the users. There are number of models also there to detect the malicious node. Based on the above-discussed parameters the paper compares these algorithms in terms of detection accuracy, computational complexity, scalability and performance measure of imbalanced data. The comparison draws on different targets such as accuracy, capacity/large scale, speed, and small sample imbalance, and noise. As stated in this paper, both SVM and Random Forest have its own strengths where the selection between them mainly depends on the network environment and the features of the malicious activity. © 2025 IEEE.

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurological disorder that impacts a subject’s ability to be involved in a social interaction. Machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) models have been mainly used for ASD detection, which are however criticized for their ‘black-boxness’, advocating the use of eXplainable artificial intelligence (XAI) algorithms. As per the literature search so far, no social interaction model-based eXplainable Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) care agent exists for social interaction training of an ASD subject. Therefore, this work makes a beginning in this direction. A novel architecture of an eXplainable ASD care agent for social interaction training of ASD subjects, with an underlying intelligent AI algorithm is presented. Its working is elucidated through six representative social interaction scenarios and some practical considerations are also presented when the agent is put in practice with the ASD subject. The working of the proposed ASD care agent is also depicted through a suitable case study. © Bharati Vidyapeeth's institute of computer Applications and Management 2025.

As the quality and availability of Virtual Reality (VR) technologies improve, their potential applications in medical education, particularly VR Learning Environments (VRLEs), are increasingly explored. VRLEs offer a dynamic platform where educators and students can interact, access materials, and engage in learning beyond traditional classrooms. However, questions remain about their long-term learning effects and potential confounding factors. This study investigates these aspects through a VR application designed for teaching heart embryology. For this reason we conducted a user study with medical students in their early years of training (N = 143). Our findings reveal significant short-term and sustained learning outcomes two to four weeks following a single VR session. Importantly, these outcomes appear largely independent of users’ technical affinity and are minimally influenced by their immersion tendencies. Instead, the quality of the VRLE and its user experience emerge as critical factors. These results underscore the efficacy of well-designed VRLEs in higher education and highlight key areas for future development. © 2025 The Authors

Multifunctional materials have become a hot topic in building envelope design due to their ability to simultaneously perform several functions such as structural support, insulation, energy harvesting, and storage. This paper reviews recent developments in the use of multifunctional materials in building envelopes, including their composition, properties, and potential applications. The paper also examines innovative approaches to integrating these materials into building envelopes to enhance their performance and sustainability. The potential benefits and challenges of using multifunctional materials in building envelopes are discussed, along with future directions for research in this field. However, there are also challenges associated with the use of these materials, including their high cost, complexity of integration, and potential durability issues, which require further research and development. Recently, stable markerless 6 DOF video-based hand-tracking devices became available. These devices simultaneously track the positions and orientations of both user hands in different postures with at least 40 frames per second. Such hand-tracking allows for using the human hands as natural input devices. To exploit these devices for interaction with an application, suitable interaction interfaces and techniques are required. Especially in the field of 3D gaming further developments and analyses of bare-handed interaction are needed. Therefore, we introduce a novel general interface for gaming purposes and analyzed various interaction modes/metaphors by coupling it to three popular 3D games (see Figure 1): a racing game, a flight simulator and a first-person shooter. Furthermore, we present an evaluation and discussion based on an informal user study. © 2009 IADIS Multi Conference on computer science and Information Systems

Creating geometrically detailed mesh animations is an involved and resource-intensive process in digital content creation. In this work we present a method to rapidly combine available sparse motion capture data with existing mesh sequences to produce a large variety of new animations. The key idea is to model shape changes correlated to the pose of the animated object via a part-based statistical shape model. We observe that compact linear models suffice for a segmentation into nearly rigid parts. The same segmentation further guides the parameterization of the pose which is learned in conjunction with the marker movement. Besides the inherent high geometric detail, further benefits of the presented method arise from its robustness against errors in segmentation and pose parameterization. Due to efficiency of both learning and synthesis phase, our model allows to interactively steer virtual avatars based on few markers extracted from video data or input devices like the Kinect sensor. © The Eurographics Association 2012.

In this work, we present a framework for multicamera, multi-projector object acquisition based on structured light. This approach allows the reconstruction of an object without moving either the object or the acquisition setup, avoiding any registration of independent measurements. To overcome the resolution limitations of the individual projectors, we introduce a novel super-resolution scheme. By exploiting high dynamic range imaging, we are able to handle even complicated objects, exhibiting strong specularities. We show that, combined with an iterated bundle adjustment, these improvements increase the accuracy of the obtained point cloud. © 2011 IEEE.

This paper describes the design of the 'BAT' (Bonn Articulated Tracker) visual tracking framework. This system allows the easy implementation of real-time, multi-camera motion tracking that can be distributed (also in multithreaded sense) across several computing nodes (or CPU cores). The system in itself does not realize any specific tracking system, but manages a meta-algorithm flow between processing blocks. An actual tracking implementation is realized by specifying the processing blocks through plugins. Depending on the plugins supplied, 'BAT' is capable to instantiate a wide-variety of systems ranging from object-detection methods to model-based deformable object tracking based on time-coherence, allowing also for hybrid algorithms. Being a "meta dataflow system", 'BAT' also naturally facilitates sensor fusion. Moreover, it can be used as a testbed to compare and evaluate different kind of tracking algorithms or algorithm substeps. © The Eurographics Association 2008.

Removing fences from sweep motion videos using global 3D reconstruction and fence-aware light field rendering

Diminishing the appearance of a fence in an image is a challenging research area due to the characteristics of fences(thinness, lack of texture, etc.) and the need for occluded background restoration. In this paper, we describe a fence removal method for an image sequence captured by a user making a sweep motion, in which occluded background is potentially observed. To make use of geometric and appearance information such as consecutive images, we use two well-known approaches: structure from motion and light field rendering. Results using real image sequences show that our method can stably segment fences and preserve background details for various fence and background combinations. A new video without the fence, with frame coherence, can be successfully provided.
