The rapid advancements in AI and Machine Learning necessitate a robust computational infrastructure to support cutting-edge research and industrial applications. From the academic and industrial AI community perspective, voiced in the recent ELISE project, the European AI platform is recommended to center around the EuroHPC growing ecosystem. It should be user-driven, easily accessible, powerful, and compliant with European regulations. AI-optimized and dedicated supercomputers for the European AI community are also coming, in addition to upgrading partitions of existing EuroHPC systems to 'AI enabled' stage. Related calls have been initiated in September 2024. Further, conventional EuroHPC systems are suggested to be extended with quantum computing, edge AI, and neuromorphic computing to cater to AI models deployed on network edge devices and sustainability in the long run. The challenges are presented in three case studies, ranging from training Transformers on HPC to LLMs trained federally across three different Euro HPC systems to recent results on hybrid classical-quantum application. This paper concludes with case studies results-informed next steps believed to benefit AI practitioners and the broader AI community. © 2025 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

A new era of creativity, efficiency, and optimisation has emerged across a number of industrial sectors with the introduction of digital twin technologies. To enhance their capabilities, digital twins are frequently combined with cutting-edge technologies like blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT). This paper summarises and evaluates the present status of research and applications of blockchain enabled digital twins in the context of industrial sectors. This review highlights the benefits of blockchain based digital twins in the different industrial domains such as production manufacturing, product data management, construction project management and, healthcare. Furthermore, the paper addresses the challenges and future directions of digital twin adoption in industries, discussing interoperability, data security, and the need for standardized frameworks.

A Hybrid Adaptive Filter for Head Tracking in Augmented Reality (AR)-based Flight Simulators

This paper presents a novel approach for head tracking in augmented reality (AR) flight simulators using an adaptive fusion of Kalman and particle filters. This fusion dynamically balances the strengths of both algorithms, leveraging Kalman filters for computational efficiency and particle filters for handling non-linearities based on real-time factors such as sensor noise and head movement patterns. Our method demonstrates superior tracking precision and reduced latency, making it particularly effective for immersive pilot training in AR-based flight simulations. While focused on flight simulation, our approach holds high potential for broader applications in other AR and virtual reality (VR) environments where precise, real-time head tracking is crucial. These results provide actionable design guidance for developers optimizing tracking systems in environments that require fast response times and high accuracy. Future extensions of this research could explore the generalization of our approach across diverse AR applications, including human-computer interaction (HCI), medical simulations, and gaming. © 1968-2012 IEEE.

This paper presents a novel mixed reality based navigation system for accurate respiratory liver tumor punctures in radiofrequency ablation(RFA).Our system contains an optical see-through head-mounted display device(OST-HMD),Microsoft Holo Lens for perfectly overlaying the virtual information on the patient,and a optical tracking system NDI Polaris for calibrating the surgical utilities in the surgical *** with traditional navigation method with CT,our system aligns the virtual guidance information and real patient and real-timely updates the view of virtual guidance via a position tracking *** addition,to alleviate the difficulty during needle placement induced by respiratory motion,we reconstruct the patientspecific respiratory liver motion through statistical motion model to assist doctors precisely puncture liver *** proposed system has been experimentally validated on vivo pigs with an accurate real-time registration approximately 5-mm mean FRE and TRE,which has the potential to be applied in clinical RFA guidance.

Synthesizing realistic videos of humans using neural networks has been a popular alternative to the conventional graphics-based rendering pipeline due to its high efficiency. Existing works typically formulate this as an image-to-image translation problem in 2D screen space, which leads to artifacts such as over-smoothing, missing body parts, and temporal instability of fine-scale detail, such as pose-dependent wrinkles in the clothing. In this paper, we propose a novel human video synthesis method that approaches these limiting factors by explicitly disentangling the learning of time-coherent fine-scale details from the embedding of the human in 2D screen space. More specifically, our method relies on the combination of two convolutional neural networks (CNNs). Given the pose information, the first CNN predicts a dynamic texture map that contains time-coherent high-frequency details, and the second CNN conditions the generation of the final video on the temporally coherent output of the first CNN. We demonstrate several applications of our approach, such as human reenactment and novel view synthesis from monocular video, where we show significant improvement over the state of the art both qualitatively and quantitatively. Beyond identity: what information is stored in biometric face templates?

Deeply-learned face representations enable the success of current face recognition systems. Despite the ability of these representations to encode the identity of an individual, recent works have shown that more information is stored within, such as demographics, image characteristics, and social traits. This threatens the user’s privacy, since for many applications these templates are expected to be solely used for recognition purposes. Knowing the encoded information in face templates helps to develop bias-mitigating and privacy-preserving face recognition technologies. This work aims to support the development of these two branches by analysing face templates regarding 113 attributes. Experiments were conducted on two publicly available face embeddings. For evaluating the predictability of the attributes, we trained a massive attribute classifier that is additionally able to accurately state its prediction confidence. This allows us to make more sophisticated statements about the attribute predictability. The results demonstrate that up to 74 attributes can be accurately predicted from face templates. Especially non-permanent attributes, such as age, hairstyles, haircolors, beards, and various accessories, found to be easily-predictable. Since face recognition systems aim to be robust against these variations, future research might build on this work to develop more understandable privacy preserving solutions and build robust and fair face templates. In online advertising, search engines sell ad placements for keywords continuously through auctions. This problem can be seen as an infinitely repeated game since the auction is executed whenever a user performs a query with the keyword. As advertisers may frequently change their bids, the game will have a large set of equilibria with potentially complex strategies. In this paper, we propose the use of natural strategies for reasoning in such setting as they are processable by artificial agents with limited memory and/or computational power as well as understandable by human users. To reach this goal, we introduce a quantitative version of Strategy Logic with natural strategies in the setting of imperfect information. In a first step, we show how to model strategies for repeated keyword auctions and take advantage of the model for proving properties evaluating this game. In a second step, we study the logic in relation to the distinguishing power, expressivity, and model-checking complexity for strategies with and without recall.

Spine MRI images generally have the characteristics of low contrast and much noise. Because the variable shape of the spine edge, the traditional spine image segmentation method requires a lot of preprocessing and can not perform image segmentation automatically, which is inefficient and cannot compliant the clinical work requirements. So as to solve the above problems, this paper use deep learning algorithms to identify the spine images, and proposed a disc herniation recognition method for spinal MRI images which based on DenseNet fusion model. Use DenseNet and Inception-Resnet-V2 model fusion to get more image features and improve the image recognition accuracy. Experiments prove that this method can be used to identify the herniation of spinal intervertebral disc with high accuracy and real-time. © 2020 IEEE.

Smart cities are fast proliferating the global space in recent times. In order to achieve the envisioned next-generation cities, the smart city paradigm aspires to develop a completely integrated network-based infrastructure. With the development of innovative smart cities, ICT-based e-governance has made it possible for services to be delivered intelligently and interactively via online platforms. However, the communication between government agencies and other stakeholders in the smart city ecosystem is through open channels, which poses serious security concerns. In order to address this problem, this work proposes a robust remote client password authentication technique for e-governance applications in smart cities. The proposed authentication technique is lightweight, resistant to several attacks, and achieves low computational overhead. © 2023 IEEE.
