A robust deformed convolutional neural network(CNN)for image denoising

Due to strong learning ability,convolutional neural networks(CNNs)have been developed in image ***,convolutional operations may change original distributions of noise in corrupted images,which may increase training difficulty in image *** relations of surrounding pixels can effectively resolve this *** by that,we propose a robust deformed denoising CNN(RDDCNN)in this *** proposed RDDCNN contains three blocks:a deformable block(DB),an enhanced block(EB)and a residual block(RB).The DB can extract more representative noise features via a deformable learnable kernel and stacked convolutional architecture,according to relations of surrounding *** EB can facilitate contextual interaction through a dilated convolution and a novel combination of convolutional layers,batch normalisation(BN)and ReLU,which can enhance the learning ability of the proposed *** address long-term dependency problem,the RB is used to enhance the memory ability of shallow layer on deep layers and construct a clean ***,we implement a blind denoising *** results demonstrate that our denoising model outperforms popular denoising methods in terms of qualitative and quantitative *** can be obtained at https://***/hellloxiaotian/RDDCNN.

Biometric authentication systems have gained popularity as the necessity for secure individual identification has expanded. Iris, hand geometry, fingerprints, retina, vein patterns on the fingers and palms, and voice patterns are all common biometric features. Biometric recognition systems based on finger-veins are becoming more common due to their numerous advantages, including low danger of duplication or fraud, minimum invasiveness, and excellent identification accuracy. Motivated by these advantages, our research looks into the subject of finger-vein authentication. Similar to identification, exploration of hidden patterns within data is essential for effective finger-vein recognition. The study employs two feature extraction approaches, the Local Binary Pattern (LBP) and the Gabor filter, as well as two machine learning models, the Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) and the Support Vector Machine (SVM). Using finger-vein images from the SDUMLA HMT database, this study evaluates four distinct feature extraction and ML model combinations. The simulation results highlight the excellent accuracy of 97.72%, False Acceptance Rate (FAR) of 3.1%, and False Rejection Rate (FRR) of 1.41% attained by LBP with ANFIS. In addition to performance measurements, the study examines the amount of time required for each task. © 2024 IEEE.

Federated learning (FL) is an emerging paradigm using a parameter server (PS) to coordinate multiple decentralized clients for training a common model without exposing their raw data. Despite its amazing capability in preserving data privacy, FL confronts two significant challenges that have not been sufficiently addressed by existing works, which are: 1) heterogeneous data distributed on clients given that the PS cannot alter data locations. 2) limited computation resources of FL clients who may conduct model training with mobile devices. To tackle these challenges, we propose a novel federated one-shot transferring of intermediate features (FedOTF) algorithm. More specifically, FedOTF consists of two stages: feature extraction and model reconstruction. To overcome challenge 1, clients in stage 1 only collaboratively train a small model in a federated manner, with the objective to extract features. In stage 2, intermediate features (generated by the small model trained by stage 1) are transferred from clients to the PS so that a large model can be trained to overcome challenge 2. In addition, the design of FedOTF is robust, which can flexibly diminish the number of communication rounds of stage 1 when network capacity is limited, and reduce the amount of exposed features when privacy is concerned. To verify the superiority of FedOTF, we conduct comprehensive experiments with real datasets. The experiment results demonstrate that FedOTF can significantly improve the model utility of FL because a better model can be finally obtained by the PS without incurring heavy computational load on clients. Besides, we conduct robustness evaluation of FedOTF which can achieve stable performance when varying network capacity and privacy requirement. © 2023 IEEE.

With the increase in the data growth, where data storage becomes difficult if the user wants to store it on a local drive, which is why many organizations and people prefer storing their data on a cloud storage. With accessibility of cloud storage, people can remotely use cloud storage and avail data storage. Remote data integrity has been suggested as a way to ensure the integrity of data stored in clouds. The health care system is one example of cloud storage, and the cloud file there may include sensitive data. This sensitive information should not be shared with others. One solution would be to encrypt the whole file to avoid sensitive data sharing, but then this way the file would be unusable to others. The method for implementing data sharing with sensitive information disguised in remote data integrity audits is one topic that hasn't been looked into yet. This technique does this by creating a sanitizer that will clean up data blocks that correspond to the sensitive information in the file and change those signatures into valid ones for the cleansed file. These signatures are utilised during the integrity auditing procedure to confirm the cleaned-up file. As a result, this scheme allows files to be shared with others, while also maintaining data security by sanitizing blocks of sensitive data, with the data integrity auditing still able to be executed efficiently without any problems. Identity-based cryptography, which the proposed solution is built on, makes complex certificate administration simple. The proposed method is efficient and secure, according to the performance analysis and security analysis. © 2022 IEEE.

Pushing artificial intelligence(AI) from central cloud to network edge has reached board consensus in both industry and academia for materializing the vision of artificial intelligence of things(AIoT) in the sixth-generation(6G) era. This gives rise to an emerging research area known as edge intelligence, which concerns the distillation of human-like intelligence from the vast amount of data scattered at the wireless network edge. Typically, realizing edge intelligence corresponds to the processes of sensing, communication,and computation, which are coupled ingredients for data generation, exchanging, and processing, ***, conventional wireless networks design the three mentioned ingredients separately in a task-agnostic manner, which leads to difficulties in accommodating the stringent demands of ultra-low latency, ultra-high reliability, and high capacity in emerging AI applications like auto-driving and metaverse. This thus prompts a new design paradigm of seamlessly integrated sensing, communication, and computation(ISCC) in a taskoriented manner, which comprehensively accounts for the use of the data in downstream AI tasks. In view of its growing interest, this study provides a timely overview of ISCC for edge intelligence by introducing its basic concept, design challenges, and enabling techniques, surveying the state-of-the-art advancements, and shedding light on the road ahead.

The reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) steering reflective beam directions toward a target mobile user equipment (UE) has been a promising technology for coverage enhancement and physical-layer (PHY) security to avoid signal eavesdroppers and jammers. However, tracking and predicting the moving trajectory of UE demand significant computing burdens unaffordable to the RIS. Performing beam steering computations on the radio access network (RAN) intelligent controller in the open RAN (O-RAN) architecture therefore emerges as a revolutionary paradigm. In this paper, we propose a PHY-secured beam steering design based on a pre-processing-based Kalman filter algorithm. Through a pre-processing phase to derive the radiation feature, the proposed design accurately tracks the position of the mobile UE and quickly recovers the position search while position tracking fails. Through practical field-try experiments, we justify the capability of O-RAN RIC-empowered RIS for PHY security. © 2013 IEEE.

Scattering noise reduction is a challenging project to remove noise under scattering media conditions such as fog or turbid water. In previous study, blurring caused by scattering medium particles in fog or turbid water was removed by low-pass filtering. However, in this method, the accurate color information of the object may be lost due to rough low-frequency filtering. In addition, it is difficult to the obtain object shape information in heavy turbid environments. To solve this problem, we propose a new de-scattering algorithm that combines Fourier-domain filtering and integral imaging by creating a filter tailored to the frequency to be removed. To prove the proposed method, we perform a numerical analysis of experimental results using conventional and proposed methods. © 2024 IEEE.

Quantum chemistry software implements the first principle quantum computation and is indispensable in both scientific research and chemical industries. Any bugs in such software will lead to serious consequences, thus defeating its trustworthiness and reliability. However, bug detection techniques for such software have not been fully investigated. In this paper, to fill this gap, we propose a novel approach to fuzz quantum chemistry software with the aid of Large Language Models (LLMs). Our basic idea is utilize LLMs to mutate and generate syntactic and semantic valid input files from seed inputs, by proving valuable domain-specific knowledge of chemistry. With this basic idea, we have designed and implemented CHEMFuzz, a fully automatic fuzzing framework to fuzz quantum chemistry software for bugs. Our evaluation of CHEMFUZZ leverages popular LLMs including GPT3.5, Claude-2, and Bart as test oracles to generate parameters to mutate inputs and analyze computation results. CHEMFUZZ detected 40 unique bugs, which have been classified and reported to developers, with a code coverage of 17.4%. © 2023 IEEE.

Multi-objective Feature Attribution Explanation for Explainable Machine Learning

The feature attribution-based explanation (FAE) methods, which indicate how much each input feature contributes to the model's output for a given data point, are one of the most popular categories of explainable machine learning techniques. Although various metrics have been proposed to evaluate the explanation quality, no single metric could capture different aspects of the explanations. Different conclusions might be drawn using different metrics. Moreover, during the processes of generating explanations, existing FAE methods either do not consider any evaluation metric or only consider the faithfulness of the explanation, failing to consider multiple metrics simultaneously. To address this issue, we formulate the problem of creating FAE explainable models as a multi-objective learning problem that considers multiple explanation quality metrics simultaneously. We first reveal conflicts between various explanation quality metrics, including faithfulness, sensitivity, and complexity. Then, we define the considered multi-objective explanation problem and propose a multi-objective feature attribution explanation (MOFAE) framework to address this newly defined problem. Subsequently, we instantiate the framework by simultaneously considering the explanation's faithfulness, sensitivity, and complexity. Experimental results comparing with six state-of-The-Art FAE methods on eight datasets demonstrate that our method can optimize multiple conflicting metrics simultaneously and can provide explanations with higher faithfulness, lower sensitivity, and lower complexity than the compared methods. Moreover, the results have shown that our method has better diversity, i.e., it provides various explanations that achieve different tradeoffs between multiple conflicting explanation quality metrics. Therefore, it can provide tailored explanations to different stakeholders based on their specific requirements. © 2024 Copyright held by the owner/author(s). Publication rights licensed
