Data augmentation effectively expands feature distribution in time series classification, enhancing downstream task performance. However, existing techniques often fail to maintain semantic consistency between augmented and original time series data, causing label noise and thereby degrading downstream task performance. We argue that data augmentation should preserve time series semantic consistency and expand the non-semantic information space. In this paper, we reformulate data augmentation as a semantic path planning problem between original data and augmented data, modeled as a Markov Decision Process (MDP). We propose a reinforcement learning-based algorithm (RL) named FreqSYN, where the action space is defined by a set of learnable Gaussian kernels that perturbs the frequency domain of the original data to generate augmented samples. The confidence coefficients of augmented data in semantically relevant classification tasks are used as a reward to iteratively refine the FreqSYN. Our method is validated across four datasets, achieving state-of-the-art performance, with a 2% improvement in F1 score over the SimPSI method. With the continuous development of Internet of Things (IoT), significant value has been generated, but numerous challenges remain. Recommender systems, as an effective tool to optimize IoT services, can significantly enhance user experience. However, the IoT’s demands for low latency and high-computational load make it difficult for traditional recommender systems to adapt. Moreover, traditional approaches often overlook the dynamic nature of user preferences, which are crucial for determining user satisfaction with IoT services. To address these issues, we propose a novel method called MoreGCN, which quantifies the temporal evolution of user preferences and integrates user interest modeling to accurately match similar users. This approach guides the learning of convolutional networks during the recommendation process. Deployed within a distributed computing framework and combined with meta computing, MoreGCN significantly improves computational efficiency and recommendation accuracy. Experimental results demonstrate that, across three benchmark datasets, MoreGCN consistently outperforms several existing state-of-the-art methods in terms of performance. © 2014 IEEE.

The Internet of Things is becoming an increasingly important tool for the healthcare sector. It is utilized in common healthcare settings, such as smart watches and oxygen monitors, as well as in hospitals for anything from routine checks to critical care units. One of the most crucial hospital departments is post-operative care, where patients are monitored to make sure they are getting better. Here, a constant watch is kept on the patient’s vital signs and the associated organs to detect any anomalies that might develop following the treatment. Utilizing IoT in post-operative treatment will guarantee patient contentment. This is ensured by the Post-Operative Smart Healthcare Kit (POSHK), presented in this paper, furnished with several sensors, including heartbeat, oxygen and carbon dioxide sensors, blood pressure, room, and patient temperature sensors, and more. DeepSeqCoco: A Robust Mobile Friendly Deep Learning Model for Detection of Diseases in Cocos Nucifera

Coconut tree diseases are a serious risk to agricultural yield, particularly in developing countries where conventional farming practices restrict early diagnosis and intervention. Current disease identification methods are manual, labor-intensive, and non-scalable. In response to these limitations, we come up with DeepSeqCoco, a deep learning based model for accurate and automatic disease identification from coconut tree images. The model was tested under various optimizer settings, such as SGD, Adam, and hybrid configurations, to identify the optimal balance between accuracy, minimization of loss, and computational cost. Results from experiments indicate that DeepSeqCoco can achieve as much as 99.5% accuracy (achieving up to 5% higher accuracy than existing models) with the hybrid SGD then Adam showing the lowest validation loss of 2.81%. It also shows a drop of up to 18% in training time and up to 85% in prediction time for input images. The results point out the promise of the model to improve precision agriculture through an AI-based, scalable, and efficient disease monitoring system.

This paper focuses on self-healing algorithms in structural health monitoring (SHM) systems centered around the enhancement of resilience and adaptability of the systems. In this study, imports from existing methods (clustering, Fault Tolerant Multiple Redundancy (FTMR) and reinforcement learning) are analyzed against the choice of creating a novel retasking algorithm designed for dynamic resource redistribution and optimal monitoring coverage. Unlike conventional methods, retasking will allow adapting the coverage in real time, whereby system down time will be reduced, with less computational load achieved through task redistribution through functional sensors. Findings showed that retasking improved reliability and scalability of the SHM systems drastically, providing a simple yet powerful resolution towards modern infrastructure monitoring. This study stresses the retasking capability to redefine self-healing in the SHM systems for future directions in infrastructure safety.

BFT consensus that uses Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs) to improve the system tolerance and performance is gaining popularity. However, existing works suffer from TEE rollback issues, resulting in a tolerance-performance tradeoff. In this paper, we propose Achilles, an efficient TEE-assisted BFT protocol that breaks the tradeoff. The key idea behind Achilles is removing the expensive rollback prevention of TEEs from the critical path of committing transactions. To this end, Achilles adopts a rollback resilient recovery mechanism, which allows nodes to assist each other in recovering their states. Besides, Achilles follows the chaining spirit in modern chained BFT protocols and leverages customized chained commit rules to achieve linear message complexity, end-to-end transaction latency of four communication steps, and fault tolerance for the minority of Byzantine nodes. Achilles is the first TEE-assisted BFT protocol in line with CFT protocols in these metrics. We implement a prototype of Achilles based on Intel SGX and evaluate it in both LAN and WAN, showcasing its outperforming performance compared to several state-of-the-art counterparts. © 2025 Copyright held by the owner/author(s).

With the increasing water shortage and climatic uncertainty, creative strategies for effective water management in agriculture are necessary. This research investigates the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI), particularly Artificial Neural Networks (ANN), with solar-powered Internet of Things (IoT) networks to enhance water utilization in agricultural activities. The proposed system facilitates accurate irrigation scheduling using real-time data from soil moisture sensors, meteorological stations, and crop health monitoring devices. The ANN model analyses this data to predict ideal irrigation schedules and volumes, minimizing water waste while improving crop yields. The solar-powered IoT framework provides sustainability and reduces dependence on traditional energy sources. Field trials indicate that the AI-enhanced system may promote water saving by as much as 30% relative to traditional irrigation techniques. Moreover, using AI enables adaptive learning, enabling the system to enhance its irrigation tactics using historical and real-time data. This novel method conserves water resources and fosters sustainable agriculture practices, coinciding with global initiatives to address water shortages and assure food security. The findings underscore the potential of technology-based solutions to revolutionize agricultural water management for a sustainable future. © 2025 IEEE.

We develop a general framework for clustering and distribution matching problems with bandit feedback. We consider a K-armed bandit model where some subset of K arms is partitioned into M groups. Within each group, the random variable associated to each arm follows the same distribution on a finite alphabet. At each time step, the decision maker pulls an arm and observes its outcome from the random variable associated to that arm. Subsequent arm pulls depend on the history of arm pulls and their outcomes. The decision maker has no knowledge of the distributions of the arms or the underlying partitions. The task is to devise an online algorithm to learn the underlying partition of arms with the least number of arm pulls on average and with an error probability not exceeding a pre-determined value δ. Several existing problems fall under our general framework, including finding M pairs of arms, odd arm identification, and N-ary clustering of K arms belong to our general framework. We derive a non-asymptotic lower bound on the average number of arm pulls for any online algorithm with an error probability not exceeding δ. Furthermore, we develop a computationally-efficient online algorithm based on the Track-and-Stop method and Frank-Wolfe algorithm, and show that the average number of arm pulls of our algorithm asymptotically matches that of the lower bound. Our refined analysis also uncovers a novel bound on the speed at which the average number of arm pulls of our algorithm converges to the fundamental limit as δ vanishes. © 1963-2012 IEEE.

Binary code analysis serves as the foundation for research in vulnerability discovery, software protection, and malicious code analysis. However, analyzing binary files is challenging due to the lack of high-level semantic information, leading to heavy dependence on analysts’ expertise and significantly impacting the efficiency of binary code analysis. Recent years has witnessed the blossom of machine learning models for binary analysis, but few researches address the problem of binary code datasets. In this paper, we review all the existing and available datasets, and make classification according to their application. We set up experiments to illustrate how dataset quality could affect the performance of machine learning models in binary function recognition. Cerebral stroke is a major global health issue, contributing to high mortality and long-term disability. Early identification of individuals at high risk of stroke can significantly improve preventive care outcomes. We present a web-based stroke risk assessment tool that uniquely combines an accessible user interface with robust machine learning modeling. The proposed platform leverages a novel combination of SMOTE oversampling and logistic regression to address class imbalance in patient health records, improving the detection of stroke risk factors over existing methods. We compare a range of algorithms – including traditional classifiers and deep learning models – and report comprehensive performance metrics (accuracy, precision, recall, F1-score, and AUC-ROC) for each. Our best model (logistic regression with SMOTE and standard scaling) achieves 93.2% accuracy with a substantially higher F1-score for the stroke-positive class than other models, indicating improved sensitivity to stroke cases. To bridge the gap between complex predictive models and end-users, we deploy this model in an intuitive web interface (built with Streamlit) that non-technical individuals and healthcare providers can easily use. This interface requires no specialized knowledge, preserves user privacy by avoiding any data storage, and provides clear explanations of results. By offering a practical and transparent tool for stroke risk screening, our work advances health informatics with an emphasis on accessibility, interpretability, and early intervention. Potential applications range from personal health self-assessment to integration in clinical workflows for preventive care, ultimately aiming to improve public health outcomes through early detection and intervention in stroke. © 2013 IEEE.
