This paper outlines the design and implementation of a solar microgrid-specific high-gain DC-DC booster converter that makes use of a variable inductor and capacitors. To improve the suitability of photovoltaic (PV) panels for incorporation into microgrids, the proposed converter efficiently increases their low-voltage outputs. Conventional boost converters can't offer that kind of voltage increase because they lose too much performance and put too much strain on their internal components. The converter increases the voltage gain dramatically while maintaining a high degree of efficiency thanks to a switching inductor-capacitor network. The main breakthrough is an inventive multi-stage energy transfer and storage device that cleverly employs a switching inductor and capacitor. This configuration increases the output voltage while decreasing the voltage and current ripples, which in turn reduces the amount of electromagnetic interference (EMI) and increases the life of the components. Thorough assessments of the converter's working via theoretical modeling and simulation studies confirm its performance across several load and input situations common to solar microgrids. The prototype's testing findings show a significant voltage increase and a peak efficiency of over 95% when compared to traditional boost converters. Moreover, the converter's reliable performance over a wide range of voltage sources and workload scenarios proves its suitability for practical solar applications. As a result, the proposed high-gain boost converter will greatly improve the efficiency and reliability of solar microgrids, leading to a rise in the use of renewable energy sources in DGS. © 2025 IEEE.

The technological advancements in the field of agriculture have increased to a great extent in recent years, and many techniques have evolved from other techniques. Some methods are improved or upgraded from the previous versions by implementing a new model or using better hardware devices. This has been helpful for the farmers in increasing crop productivity, and the life expectancy of crops has also increased as the diseases inside or outside the crops can be detected much earlier, and learning at an early stage helps prevent other crops. In this paper, we have presented a study where many varieties of fruits and vegetables have been taken to determine which method was used for a particular crop. By analyzing the various works carried out by the authors, it was inferred that most of the works revolved around image processing and hyperspectral imaging. Due to this, we had also included most of the papers, particularly as the models and hardware components used were much better than other works. A smart city's transportation system can be en-hanced if there is an accurate prediction of the traffic flow which develops in an area as time goes on. This article investigates the relative accuracy of predicting traffic flow at target intersections in a city, taking advantage of two models: Tab Net and a hybrid Transformer-XGBoost. Several metrics including Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Coefficient of determination (R2 score) among others were employed to evaluate the models employed. A sequential deep learning model known as Tab Net triumphing in the competition with MSE, RMSE, and MAE being 34.48, 5.87, and 3.73 respectively, and R2 score as high as 0.917, although performing well while enhancing identification of features such as year and junction. On the other hand, while reporting similar R2 score as low as 0.184, the Transformer-XGBoost hybrid model had structuring limitations where complex interdependencies and time variations were involved recording MSE, RMSE and MAE as 338.52, 18.40 and 13.24 respectively. The graphs of residuals and QQ plots served to uncover that the hybrid model failed making a right prediction during high traffic volume days, as general tabnet results shown in the final graphs are more stable. Following investigation of the models in this study, the researchers suggest implementing TabNet as a better option for traffic management explaining its high accuracy and providing valuable guidance for cities. This would result in improvement of the traffic flow prediction, which is highly needed for effective urban mobility solutions. © 2025 IEEE.

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a system of interconnected sensors that can gather environmental information. On the other hand, data redundancy is a common source of problems with WSNs. The literature presents a plethora of approaches. Despite these mechanisms’ best efforts, most current systems still need help with difficulties like noise, redundancy, or application specificity. Thus, we proposed an algorithm to overcome all the problems with redundant and highly correlated data. The longest common subsequence (LCSS)-enabled sliding window algorithm can resolve issues in constrained networks related to energy conservation and congestion control. The proposed method exhibits remarkable performance on multiple benchmark datasets. Team-based capstone courses are integral to many undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in the computing field. They are designed to help students gain hands-on experience and practice professional skills such as communication, teamwork, and self-reflection as they transition into the real world. Prior research on capstone courses has focused primarily on the experiences of students. The perspectives of instructors who teach capstone courses have not been explored comprehensively. However, an instructor's experience, motivation, and expectancy can have a significant impact on the quality of a capstone course. In this working group, we used a mixed methods approach to understand the experiences of capstone instructors. Issues such as class size, industry partnerships, managing student conflicts, and factors influencing instructor motivation were examined using a quantitative survey and semi-structured interviews with capstone teaching staff from multiple institutions across different continents. Our findings show that there are more similarities than differences across various capstone course structures. Similarities include team size, team formation methodologies, duration of the capstone course, and project sourcing. Differences in capstone courses include class sizes and institutional support. Some instructors felt that capstone courses require more time and effort than regular lecture-based courses. These instructors cited that the additional time and effort is related to class size and liaising with external stakeholders, including industry partners. Some instructors felt that their contributions were not recognized enough by the leadership at their institutions. Others acknowledged institutional support and the value that the capstone brought to their department. Research the mechanism of fake news refuting rumors in the real social network environment. Propose methods to evaluate the effect of rumor refuting and explore the factors that affect the impact of rumor refuting. Based on the current research results and assumptions, eight factors that affect the effect of rumor refuting are summed up, such as the proportion of the original fake news content. Experiments were conducted based on the rumor-refuting Weibo data. The experimental analysis showed that the proportion of the original fake news in the rumor-refuting information was negatively correlated with the rumor-refuting effect, and the explanation was positively correlated with the rumor-refuting effect suggestions for refuting rumors, including explaining why the original fake news is wrong to guiding social network fake news denying rumors. © 2025 The Author(s).

Chained HotStuff Under Performance Attack

Chained HotStuff is a state-of-the-art Byzantine fault-tolerant protocol for building decentralized systems like blockchains. Although chained HotStuff has been wildly adopted in many systems, its performance (e.g., throughput and latency) under attacks is still under-explored. In this paper, we develop a multi-metric evaluation framework to quantitatively analyze the performance of chained HotStuff with respect to its chain growth rate, chain quality, and latency. We propose several new attack strategies and evaluate their effects on the performance of chained HotStuff. Our analysis shows that the chain growth rate (resp, chain quality) of chained HotStuff under our attacks can drop to 4/9 (resp, 12/17 ) of that without attacks when one-third of nodes are Byzantine. In addition, we use our framework to evaluate a variant of chained HotStuff, DiemBFT and find that some engineering optimizations render it more vulnerable to some attacks than the original chained HotStuff. Finally, we provide two countermeasures, i.e., broadcasting QCs and the longest chain rule, to thwart these attacks. Our analysis shows that the proposed countermeasures can significantly reduce the latency (almost half of that in chained HotStuff) and make it impossible for an attacker to lower the chain quality by simple attacks. © 2004-2012 IEEE.

The Linux kernel extensively uses the Berkeley Packet Filter (BPF) to allow user-written BPF applications to execute in the kernel space. The BPF employs a verifier to check the security of user-supplied BPF code statically. Recent attacks show that BPF programs can evade security checks and gain unauthorized access to kernel memory, indicating that the verification process is not flawless. In this paper, we present MOAT, a system that isolates potentially malicious BPF programs using Intel Memory Protection Keys (MPK). Enforcing BPF program isolation with MPK is not straightforward; MOAT is designed to alleviate technical obstacles, such as limited hardware keys and the need to protect a wide variety of BPF helper functions. We implement MOAT on Linux (ver. 6.1.38), and our evaluation shows that MOAT delivers low-cost isolation of BPF programs under mainstream use cases, such as isolating a BPF packet filter with only 3% throughput loss.

A Novel Transformer-based Multiscale Siamese Framework for High-resolution Remote Sensing Change Detection

Change detection (CD) in remote sensing based on deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and transformers has played a crucial role in surface monitoring and resource development. However, the inadequate extraction of local and global features, along with the insufficient utilization of multiscale features, constrains the ability to identify change regions at multiple scales. To resolve the aforementioned issue, we propose a transformer-based multiscale Siamese framework (TMSF) for high-resolution remote sensing CD, aiming to improve detection accuracy. First, we propose a dual-attention token-based (DAT-based) transformer module, which embeds attention tokens into the transformer, effectively integrating local and global features and thereby enhancing the discriminative power of the extracted features. Second, we design a multiscale feature adaptive fusion module (MFAFM) that incorporates a channel attention mechanism to adaptively integrate multiscale information, enabling more precise identification of change regions at various scales. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in improving CD accuracy on three widely used benchmark datasets, LEVIR-CD, WHU-CD and CDD. Experimental results show that our method outperforms ten state-of-the-art CD methods in terms of F1-score and intersection over union (IoU) metrics. Notably, compared to that of five multiscale-based methods, our proposed TMSF achieves superior performance while requiring only half the number of parameters and computational cost. Thus, the proposed model demonstrates a marked advancement in remote sensing CD. © 2008-2012 IEEE.
