A smart city's transportation system can be en-hanced if there is an accurate prediction of the traffic flow which develops in an area as time goes on. This article investigates the relative accuracy of predicting traffic flow at target intersections in a city, taking advantage of two models: Tab Net and a hybrid Transformer-XGBoost. Several metrics including Mean Squared Error (MSE) and Coefficient of determination (R2 score) among others were employed to evaluate the models employed. A sequential deep learning model known as Tab Net triumphing in the competition with MSE, RMSE, and MAE being 34.48, 5.87, and 3.73 respectively, and R2 score as high as 0.917, although performing well while enhancing identification of features such as year and junction. On the other hand, while reporting similar R2 score as low as 0.184, the Transformer-XGBoost hybrid model had structuring limitations where complex interdependencies and time variations were involved recording MSE, RMSE and MAE as 338.52, 18.40 and 13.24 respectively. The graphs of residuals and QQ plots served to uncover that the hybrid model failed making a right prediction during high traffic volume days, as general tabnet results shown in the final graphs are more stable. Following investigation of the models in this study, the researchers suggest implementing TabNet as a better option for traffic management explaining its high accuracy and providing valuable guidance for cities. This would result in improvement of the traffic flow prediction, which is highly needed for effective urban mobility solutions. © 2025 IEEE.

WTDUN: Wavelet Tree-Structured Sampling and Deep Unfolding Network for Image Compressed Sensing

Deep unfolding networks have gained increasing attention in the field of compressed sensing (CS) owing to their theoretical interpretability and superior reconstruction performance. However, most existing deep unfolding methods often face the following issues: 1) they learn directly from single-channel images, leading to a simple feature representation that does not fully capture complex features;and 2) they treat various image components uniformly, ignoring the characteristics of different components. To address these issues, we propose a novel wavelet-domain deep unfolding framework named WTDUN, which operates directly on the multi-scale wavelet subbands. Our method utilizes the intrinsic sparsity and multi-scale structure of wavelet coefficients to achieve a tree-structured sampling and reconstruction, effectively capturing and highlighting the most important features within images. Specifically, the design of tree-structured reconstruction aims to capture the inter-dependencies among the multi-scale subbands, enabling the identification of both fine and coarse features, which can lead to a marked improvement in reconstruction quality. Furthermore, a wavelet domain adaptive sampling method is proposed to greatly improve the sampling capability, which is realized by assigning measurements to each wavelet subband based on its importance. Unlike pure deep learning methods that treat all components uniformly, our method introduces a targeted focus on important subbands, considering their energy and sparsity. This targeted strategy lets us capture key information more efficiently while discarding less important information, resulting in a more effective and detailed reconstruction. Recently, the diffusion-based generative paradigm has achieved impressive general image generation capabilities with text prompts due to its accurate distribution modeling and stable training process. However, generating diverse remote sensing (RS) images that are tremendously different from general images in terms of scale and perspective remains a formidable challenge due to the lack of a comprehensive remote sensing image generation dataset with various modalities, ground sample distances (GSD), and scenes. In this paper, we propose a Multi-modal, Multi-GSD, Multi-scene Remote Sensing (MMM-RS) dataset and benchmark for text-to-image generation in diverse remote sensing scenarios. Specifically, we first collect nine publicly available RS datasets and conduct standardization for all samples. To bridge RS images to textual semantic information, we utilize a large-scale pretrained vision-language model to automatically output text prompts and perform hand-crafted rectification, resulting in information-rich text-image pairs (including multi-modal images). In particular, we design some methods to obtain the images with different GSD and various environments (e.g., low-light, foggy) in a single sample. With extensive manual screening and refining annotations, we ultimately obtain a MMM-RS dataset that comprises approximately 2.1 million text-image pairs. Extensive experimental results verify that our proposed MMM-RS dataset allows off-the-shelf diffusion models to generate diverse RS images across various modalities, scenes, weather conditions, and GSD. This paper proposes a novel ETC-MTCTR, which is designed to enable more accurate, versatile and efficient traffic classification in the context of multi-scenario, low-resource encrypted traffic. Through three modules of Datagram Token conversion, pretraining and fine-tuning, the method uses large-scale unlabeled encrypted traffic for pretraining, mining and learning the traffic context and transmission relationship of encrypted traffic classification tasks, so that a small number of labeled data samples can be effectively used in the fine-tuning stage. Significantly improve the performance of the model on specific downstream classification tasks, enhance the accuracy, adaptability and robustness of the model in diverse environments, limited resources and new encryption security protocols, and realize efficient encryption traffic classification in multi-scenario and low-resource background. The results show that ETC-MTCTR achieves the best performance on three tasks: encryption malware classification, VPN encrypted traffic classification, and TLS 1.3 encryption application classification. Its F1 score is improved by 0.22% in the classification task of encrypted malware, 1.4% in the classification task of VPN encrypted traffic App, 4.56% in the classification task of VPN encrypted traffic Service, and 9.89% in the classification task of TLS 1.3 encrypted application, which is significantly better than other comparison methods. © 2025 IEEE.

Purpose: This study aimed to investigate and analyze the level of awareness and adoption of distributed ledger technologies (DLTs) within the Nigerian construction industry. The focus was on addressing the current state of DLT utilization, identifying challenges and opportunities and proposing strategies to enhance the integration of DLTs into the construction processes and practices of Nigerian professionals and organizations. Design/methodology/approach: The research was underpinned by a robust theoretical and conceptual framework, drawing from established theories of technology adoption. A comprehensive literature review guided the identification of various DLT types. This informed the development of a well-structured questionnaire, which was then distributed to Nigerian construction professionals. The collected data underwent analysis using percentages, frequencies, mean scores, the Kruskal–Wallis H-test and the Shapiro–Wilk test. Findings: A significant finding of this study reveals a generally low awareness and implementation of DLT among construction professionals in Nigeria. These findings emphasize the urgent need for comprehensive strategies to bridge the gap between awareness and adoption of DLT within the Nigerian construction industry. Practical implications: Industry associations, regulatory bodies and educational institutions can collaborate to develop specialized programs aimed at familiarizing professionals with the benefits and applications of DLTs. Additionally, technology providers and policymakers can leverage these findings to design user-friendly interfaces and guidelines for seamless DLT integration into construction processes. Originality/value: This study contributes to the existing body of knowledge by providing a comprehensive assessment of the awareness and adoption of DLTs specifically within the Nigerian construction industry. Case studies of development of verified programs with Dafny for accessibility assessment

Formal verification techniques aim at formally proving the correctness of a computer program with respect to a formal specification, but the expertise and effort required for applying formal specification and verification techniques and scalability issues have limited their practical application. In recent years, the tremendous progress with SAT and SMT solvers enabled the construction of a new generation of tools that promise to make formal verification more accessible for software engineers, by automating most if not all of the verification process. The Dafny system is a prominent example of that trend. However, little evidence exists yet about its accessibility. To help fill this gap, we conducted a set of 10 case studies of developing verified implementations in Dafny of some real-world algorithms and data structures, to determine its accessibility for software engineers. We found that, on average, the amount of code written for specification and verification purposes is of the same order of magnitude as the traditional code written for implementation and testing purposes (ratio of 1.14) – an "overhead" that certainly pays off for high-integrity software. The performance of the Dafny verifier was impressive, with 2.4 proof obligations generated per line of code written, and 24 ms spent per proof obligation generated and verified, on average. However, we also found that the manual work needed in writing auxiliary verification code may be significant and difficult to predict and master. With the advancement of technology, e-learning has emerged as predominant in the education sector. As students, parents, and educators acknowledged, adopting e-learning can offer several benefits over traditional learning techniques. Since more individuals are becoming acclimated to online learning platforms, these online platforms can provide a simple, instructive, and efficient mode of delivery. This novel approach could be improved with the aid of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to comprehend consumers more thoroughly and provide valuable and better-suited services. Most sectors in education, including universities, swiftly adapted to new educational methodologies because of their flexibility and productivity. Nevertheless, there are some downsides that young demography experiences, such as less instructiveness, distraction due to the absence of teachers, and poor IT literacy. Consequently, these drawbacks would recede the capability of students to assimilate content during the lecture. Therefore, the main objective of this research is to implement an E-learning platform with AI learning analytics to enhance students’ performance regularly while reducing the significant drawbacks of the E-learning platforms. This research consists of students’ focus detection, essay-based answer evaluation, note summarization, mind map generation, and personalized guidance facilities.

Recent learning-based light field (LF) disparity estimation methods construct cost volume by sequentially shifting each sub-aperture image (SAI) with a series of predefined offsets. They only use the visual information of SAIs and lose the geometry of LF. In this paper, we design a simple network that can cleverly integrate EPI features with cost volume to estimate the disparity. Firstly, we propose an efficient EPI extraction module to use abundant line characteristics. Secondly, we offer an EPI-Cost volume construction module that can create volume guided by the EPI line and the color consistency of images. Finally, after completing it, we adopt an inter-volume fusion module to considerably correlate the validity of EPI lines in both directions. Experimental results show the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance in the quantitative and qualitative evaluation of the UrbanLF-Syn dataset. © 2023 IEEE.
