In order to achieve the goal that the manipulator can automatically obtain any position within its working range, and can adjust the end actuator for grasping, a machine vision sorting system is designed. The system passes through image processing, target recognition and positioning, and finally realizes the sorting effect through end control. The collected image information is processed by MATLAB. The image preprocessing adopts median filtering, image enhancement, binarization and edge detection. For the detection of workpiece surface defects, the improved segmentation network method of convolution neural network is adopted. In the algorithm of identifying workpiece type, the template matching method of log polar coordinate and Fourier transform is adopted. In the algorithm of workpiece position, the centroid of the workpiece is extracted as the positioning reference coordinate, combined with the three degree manipulator, the kinematics model of the manipulator is established. In the algorithm of workpiece grasping, the joint angle of each manipulator is obtained by inverse operation according to the position coordinates of the workpiece, and sent to STM32 through the serial port. Then the STM32 completes the control command to grasp and place the workpiece and complete the sorting task. The experimental results show that the system meets the design requirements. © 2022 IEEE.

Extended reality (XR) and 6G networks are set to transform mobile immersive experiences, with privacy and security being paramount in XR communications. Achieving secure and reliable XR experiences while meeting high-resolution and low-latency requirements is challenging for wireless networks. A novel security-aware cross-layer communication management framework is proposed, employing zero-trust spatiotemporal physical layer level manipulations for moving-target defense. Driven by deep reinforcement learning and real-time monitoring, the proposed framework adaptively reprograms the network configuration to maximize the user’s quality of experience (QoE), reduce the overall latency, and minimize the attacker’s intercept probability. The framework was evaluated in a simulated scenario featuring an indirect multi-hop communication setup. The results show that the proposed framework effectively and efficiently secures XR user communications while maintaining QoE, outperforming conventional Q-learning algorithms. © 1983-2012 IEEE.

The modern digital age demands the skills to be able to assess information. In the current world, access to information and knowledge is abundant from different sources. Indeed, high-quality data are much needed in education and professional development, as the quality and accuracy of information directly influence the process of learning and decision-making. The study aims to investigate the perceptions of computer science students at the University of Dunaújváros related to the credibility of diverse information sources. Within a questionnaire, on a voluntary answer basis, 68 students took part, 59 males and nine females. This work is aimed at assessing the degree to which the surveyed students evaluate information sources based on a five-point Likert scale. The data shows that students find print books and textbooks as the most reliable sources;social media are the least reliable. The study also supports the importance of source credibility evaluation, for which lateral reading techniques and AI-based news source credibility identification systems can be helpful. These findings suggest the necessity of bettering the educational approaches to foster better source criticism skills in the students, especially for online content and social media. The study generally contributes to understanding the information society and helps prepare students to obtain and use reliable and accurate information in their future careers. Using AI-based tools and systems can then further support these educational efforts with robust mechanisms to evaluate information credibility in an ever more complex digital landscape. © 2024 IEEE.

In coal power plants, gangue is a by-product that is not wanted, even though coal is the energy source utilized the most worldwide. As a consequence of this, the removal of gangue from coal during the pre-processing stage of the mining technique is an essential step. With the development of new computer technologies, a method may be discovered that will allow for an improvement in the efficiency of gangue separation. This study presents a method for identifying gangue using improved deep neural networks. The method involves building a coal-gangue filtration system based on the distinctions between gangue and coal in terms of its rough surface and grayscale feature. In addition, this tactic will make it possible for robots, rather than people, to identify the gangue. Suppose the technology described in this article is applied in the coal industry. In that case, it will lead to the computerization of the extraction of coal gangue, an increase in the raw coal processing efficiency, and an improvement in the quality of the coal. According to the findings of experiments, the strategy enhances the accuracy results of coal and gangue materials by as much as 98.87% compared to the currently used approaches. © 2023 IEEE.

Text-based Person Retrieval (TPR) plays a pivotal role in video surveillance systems for safeguarding public safety. As a fine-grained retrieval task, TPR faces the significant challenge of precisely capturing highly discriminative features across image and text modalities. Existing methods primarily focus on establishing modality-shared feature spaces to bridge cross-modal discrepancies. However, these methods are prone to disturbances from irrelevant information, such as background noises in the visual modality, and often over-emphasize specific local regions while neglecting the capture of diverse discriminative modal features, thereby limiting the robustness of cross-modal matching. In this paper, we introduce a novel framework, termed the Diverse Co-saliency Feature Learning Network (DCFL), which mines the co-saliency information between image and text modalities and enhances the diversity of cross-modal discriminative features while mitigating the interference of noise. Specifically, to construct cross-modal co-saliency features, we devise the Intra-modal Saliency Feature Learning (ISFL) and Cross-modal Saliency Feature Matching (CSFM) modules. ISFL employs a weighted mask mechanism to guide the model in reducing the impact of noise information in both modalities. Complementing ISFL, CSFM establishes consistent relationships between saliency features across modalities, leveraging text descriptions to align pedestrian-relevant visual regions. Furthermore, we propose the Diverse Co-saliency Feature Mining (DCFM) to bolster the diversity of discriminative co-saliency features across both image and text modalities. This module integrates a diversity regularization term, enabling the extraction of varied visual cues and capturing comprehensive features of the target individual. Extensive benchmark experiments demonstrate a substantial superiority of our approach over the state-of-the-art methods. The code will be released publicly. © 2005-2012 IEEE.

In this article, we propose an updated version of our previously developed model for predicting drug-side effect associations, applied to two case studies: long QT syndrome and asthma. The classifier accepts the name of a specific drug side effect as input and outputs a list of drugs potentially associated with this side effect. By simulating how drug effects propagate within the interactome using the Random Walk with Restart algorithm, the classifier identifies genes potentially associated with the onset of the side effect. Based on the rationale that the more a drug perturbs these genes, the more likely it is to cause the side effect, the model identifies drugs potentially linked to the onset of the side effect. Moreover, the model enables the categorization of drugs into chemical subclasses using the ClassyFire schema, facilitating the analysis of complex side effects, such as asthma, through more specific mechanisms. The results show that the model identifies both drugs known to be associated with certain side effects, as well as drugs not officially reported by the FDA, demonstrating its generalizability and practical relevance. This method is also adaptable for analyzing other side effects. © 2024 IEEE.

This study presents a general optimal trajectory planning(GOTP)framework for autonomous vehicles(AVs)that can effectively avoid obstacles and guide AVs to complete driving tasks safely and ***,we employ the fifth-order Bezier curve to generate and smooth the reference path along the road *** coordinates are then transformed to achieve the curvature continuity of the generated *** the road constraints and vehicle dynamics,limited polynomial candidate trajectories are generated and smoothed in a curvilinear coordinate ***,in selecting the optimal trajectory,we develop a unified and auto-tune objective function based on the principle of least action by employing AVs to simulate drivers’behavior and summarizing their manipulation characteristics of“seeking benefits and avoiding losses.”Finally,by integrating the idea of receding-horizon optimization,the proposed framework is achieved by considering dynamic multi-performance objectives and selecting trajectories that satisfy feasibility,optimality,and *** simulations and experiments are performed,and the results demonstrate the framework’s feasibility and effectiveness,which avoids both dynamic and static obstacles and applies to various scenarios with multi-source interactive traffic ***,we prove that the proposed method can guarantee real-time planning and safety requirements compared to drivers’manipulation.

In today's digital world, safeguarding data at all times is important, especially with the widespread use of images across various processes. Image encryption is vital in concealing sensitive information through cryptographic techniques, rendering data indecipherable to unauthorized parties. However, existing encryption systems often fall short in terms of both efficiency and security. This research explores chaos theory for image encryption methodologies to address these limitations. A comprehensive study of image encryption fundamentals was conducted, including chaos theory, various chaotic maps, DNA encoding, and encryption system evaluation metrics. Implementation of different chaotic maps such as the logistic map, tent map, and combined logistic-tent map, along with 3D chaotic systems like the Lorenz and Rossler systems, was performed for encryption purposes. Additionally, the 4D extension of the Rossler hyperchaotic system was introduced for enhanced encryption capabilities. Encryption methods were evaluated using metrics such as UACI, NPCR, correlation coefficients, image entropy and histogram analysis, with results compared and tabulated. This research advances image encryption techniques by leveraging chaos theory to achieve heightened security and efficiency in safeguarding image data. © 2024 IEEE.

With the rapid development of social media, sentiment analysis from multimodal posts has garnered significant attention in recent years. However, the substantial size of these models impedes their deployment on resource-constrained embedded devices. Although pruning has been extensively studied to reduce the size of unimodal models, specific challenges remain for Multimodal Sentiment Analysis (MSA) models. First, existing techniques prune fixed original models into sparse models, while our findings indicate that different model architectures of identical size yield varying performance outcomes. Second, prior studies fail to explore the unique characteristics of MSA models, resulting in suboptimal pruning performance. To address these challenges, we propose MPNAS, a unified pruning framework via Neural Architecture Search (NAS) for MSA models. Specifically, we formulate pruning as a NAS problem and analyze MSA model characteristics to guide the subnet search. We conduct an initial coarse-grained NAS on the original model, expanding the search space slightly to identify suitable subnets that enhance pruning rates and accuracy. Subsequently, we refine coarse-grained subnets in a fine-grained NAS stage, where MSA model characteristics guide the search process. Extensive experiments on three representative datasets demonstrate the superiority of our approach over existing methods. © 2025 IEEE.

The increasing demand for programmers has led to a surge in participants in programming courses, making it increasingly challenging for instructors to assess student code manually. As a result, automated programming assessment systems (APASs) have been developed to streamline this process. These APASs support lecturers by managing and evaluating student programming exercises at scale. However, these tools often do not provide feature-rich online editors compared to their traditional integrated development environments (IDEs) counterparts. This absence of key features, such as syntax highlighting and autocompletion, can negatively impact the learning experience, as these tools are crucial for effective coding practice. To address this gap, this research contributes to the field of programming education by extracting and defining requirements for an online IDE in an educational context and presenting a prototypical implementation of an open-source solution for a scalable and secure online IDE. The usability of the new online IDE was assessed using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), gathering feedback from 27 first-year students through a structured survey. In addition to these qualitative insights, quantitative measures such as memory (RAM) usage were evaluated to determine the efficiency and scalability of the tool under varying usage conditions.
