This paper investigates the suitability of advanced deep learning models for precise diagnosis of lung cancer from MRI images. Recurrent neural networks (RNN), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), ResNet50, and convolutional neural networks (CNN) were all carefully evaluated to determine their unique contributions. The CNN showed off its good performance and capacity to recognize intricate patterns in lung images, achieving an accuracy of 92.3%. KNN demonstrated competitive results, demonstrating the adaptability of non-parametric methods for medical image classification. Remarkably, ResNet50 fared extremely well, exhibiting a remarkable accuracy of 94.8% and verifying the value of deep residual networks in differentiating between intricate features. RNNs gave the analysis a temporal dimension and contributed to its 89.5% accuracy. Information from confusion matrices containing comprehensive classification results was useful in refining the model. Spatial representations of expected cancer cell locations showed the effectiveness of the models by giving doctors visual cues for targeted interventions. Comparisons with the literature show that the results are in line with recent developments in deep learning for medical image analysis. Because of its comprehensive assessment of different deep learning architectures, which provides fresh perspectives that advance the field of lung cancer detection technologies, this work is an invaluable resource for future research. © 2024 IEEE.

Being able to see is fundamental to almost every aspect of our everyday lives, thus those who are visually impaired confront enormous obstacles. Thanks to recent developments in computer vision and computing, a system that can provide auditory input to visually impaired individuals regarding objects and their environments has been designed. Sequencing is crucial for preprocessing, feature selection, and model training. Although extremely accurate data input is still required for object detection, preparation is getting computationally cheaper. We were partially successful in reducing the image size by employing Gaussian Blur, which imparts a smoother appearance to the photos. We use color descriptors and Fourier transforms for feature extraction. Deep RBM training necessitates precise control over the attributes. In comparison to this method, current RBM and DNN algorithms look antiquated. The results demonstrated a notable enhancement in accuracy, reaching 98.31%. © 2024 IEEE.

Parkinson's disease (PD) profoundly impacts millions in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the importance of early detection for better patient outcomes. We introduce 'NeuraTrace PD,' an innovative application for early PD screening, combining brain MRI, hand-drawn image analysis, facial expression assessment, and voice analysis. For brain MRI analysis, we employed a Graph Convolutional Network (GCN), achieving an impressive accuracy of 91% and identifying distinct graph connectivity patterns using graph theory. We also use a deep Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) to reach 90% accuracy in analyzing hand-drawn images, while optimizing image resolution for efficiency and information retention. Facial expression analysis is a vital component, leveraging CNN and Constrained Local Models (CLM) to accurately extract Facial Action Units (FAUs), which contribute to a remarkable 95% accuracy using the XGBoost machine learning model. We introduce a Machine Learning (ML) algorithm and advanced signal processing to enhance voice feature analysis, offering a thorough understanding and classification of PD patients. It reaches 99% accuracy. In summary, our approach holds significant promise for advancing early PD diagnosis, ultimately improving the quality of life for those affected by this challenging condition. © 2023 IEEE.

Housing prices have always been an important issue among the business community. The sudden increase in property prices has an impact on economic cycles as well as our means of living. However, understanding several features that affect residential real estate prices is still challenging. Traditional techniques have been unable to choose essential features for precise predictions, which frequently leads to reduced prediction accuracy. In this research work, we utilized machine learning techniques to increase prediction accuracy and get data-driven insights into property evaluation. This study compares Random Forest Regressor and the Decision Tree Regressor using an extensive dataset of Bangalore that includes nine property features. The findings show that our models achieved an optimal accuracy level and provide insights into the variances in model performance, assisting policymakers in choosing the most suitable approaches to get accurate house prices across various market circumstances. © 2023 IEEE.

We present AircraftVerse, a publicly available aerial vehicle design dataset. Aircraft design encompasses different physics domains and, hence, multiple modalities of representation. The evaluation of these cyber-physical system (CPS) designs requires the use of scientific analytical and simulation models ranging from computer-aided design tools for structural and manufacturing analysis, computational fluid dynamics tools for drag and lift computation, battery models for energy estimation, and simulation models for flight control and dynamics. AircraftVerse contains 27, 714 diverse air vehicle designs - the largest corpus of engineering designs with this level of complexity. Each design comprises the following artifacts: a symbolic design tree describing topology, propulsion subsystem, battery subsystem, and other design details;a STandard for the Exchange of Product (STEP) model data;a 3D CAD design using a stereolithography (STL) file format;a 3D point cloud for the shape of the design;and evaluation results from high fidelity state-of-the-art physics models that characterize performance metrics such as maximum flight distance and hover-time. We also present baseline surrogate models that use different modalities of design representation to predict design performance metrics, which we provide as part of our dataset release. Finally, we discuss the potential impact of this dataset on the use of learning in aircraft design and, more generally, in CPS. AircraftVerse is accompanied by a data card, and it is released under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike (CC BY-SA) license. Automatic person identification (API) using human biometrics is essential and highly demanded compared to traditional API methods, where a person is automatically identified using his/her distinct characteristics including speech, fingerprint, iris, handwritten signatures, and others. The fusion of more than one human biometric produces bimodal and multimodal API systems that normally outperform single modality systems. This paper presents our work towards fusing speech and handwritten signatures for developing a bimodal API system, where fusion was conducted at the decision level due to the differences in the type and format of the features extracted. A data set is created that contains recordings of usernames and handwritten signatures of 100 persons (50 males and 50 females), where each person recorded his/her username 30 times and provided his/her handwritten signature 30 times. Consequently, a total of 3000 utterances and 3000 handwritten signatures were collected. The speech API used Mel-Frequency Cepstral Coefficients (MFCC) technique for features extraction and Vector Quantization (VQ) for features training and classification. On the other hand, the handwritten signatures API used global features for reflecting the structure of the hand signature image such as image area, pure height, pure width and signature height and the Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) architecture of Artificial Neural Network for features training and classification. Once the best matches for both the speech and the handwritten signatures API are produced, the fusion process takes place at decision level. It computes the difference between the two best matches for each modality and selects the modality of the maximum difference. Based on our experimental results, the bimodal API obtained an average recognition rate of 96.40%, whereas the speech API and the handwritten signatures API obtained average recognition rates of 92.60% and 75.20%, respectively. Reinforcement Learning (RL) is a machine learning approach in which an agent learns to make decisions in an environment to maximize a cumulative reward. When combined with NeuroEvolution of Augmenting Topologies (NEAT), RL offers several advantages. NEAT is a genetic algorithm that optimizes the development of artificial neural networks by modifying both their structure and weights. When integrated with RL, NEAT can improve the learning process by merging evolutionary optimization with RL techniques. NEAT has demonstrated significant potential in evolving neural networks for RL tasks. However, traditional centralized training methods encounter scalability and data privacy issues. This paper investigates the integration of NEAT with Federated Learning (FL) and its enhancement with Markov Chains and Gaussian Processes to address certain issues. We propose a new framework that combines NEAT for neural network evolution with TensorFlow Federated (TFF) for decentralized training across multiple clients. Our approach is assessed using the BipedalWalker-v3 environment from OpenAI Gym. The experimental results show that our federated NEAT framework, augmented with Markov Chains and Gaussian Processes, achieves competitive performance while maintaining data privacy and reducing computational overhead on central servers. Additionally, we implement parallelization techniques using concurrent futures to enhance the efficiency of NEAT generations.
