This study presents a comprehensive benchmarking analysis of cryptographic protocols for Internet of Things (IoT) malware defense. The framework was specifically tailored to evaluate cryptographic protocols such as AES-128, AES-256, ChaCha20, RSA (1024-bit, 2048-bit, and 4096-bit), SHA256, SHA512, and HMAC-SHA256 were tested in both standalone and emulated environments. The primary objective was to evaluate the performance and resource consumption of these protocols, focusing on their encryption and hashing efficiency. Key innovations include the comparative analysis of resource consumption and performance efficiency across diverse cryptographic operations, under both real-world and emulated conditions. By identifying protocols like ChaCha20 for high efficiency and minimal resource usage, and RSA 4096-bit for enhanced security at higher computational costs, this study provides actionable insights into the trade-offs between security and performance. These findings offer a foundational reference for selecting optimized cryptographic protocols, advancing IoT malware defense strategies through informed decision-making.

Training sophisticated machine learning models usually requires many training samples. Especially in healthcare settings these samples can be very expensive, meaning that one institution alone usually does not have enough. Merging privacy-sensitive data from different sources is usually restricted by data security and data protection measures. This can lead to approaches that reduce data quality by putting noise onto the variables (e.g., in Ε-differential privacy) or omitting certain values (e.g., for k-anonymity). Other measures based on cryptographic methods can lead to very time-consuming computations, which is especially problematic for larger multi-omics data. We address this problem by introducing ESCAPED, which stands for Efficient SeCure And PrivatE Dot product framework. ESCAPED enables the computation of the dot product of vectors from multiple sources on a third-party, which later trains kernel-based machine learning algorithms, while neither sacrificing privacy nor adding noise. We have evaluated our framework on drug resistance prediction for HIV-infected people and multi-omics dimensionality reduction and clustering problems in precision medicine. In terms of execution time, our framework significantly outperforms the best-fitting existing approaches without sacrificing the performance of the algorithm. Even though we only present the benefit for kernel-based algorithms, our framework can open up new research opportunities for further machine learning models that require the dot product of vectors from multiple sources. The Medical equipment plays a crucial role in modern healthcare. These critical medical devices must perform at the level of performance required to achieve accepted reliability standards in the healthcare sector. To assure the safety and reliability of critical medical equipment, clinical engineering departments in Tunisian hospitals have to build and continuously control a medical equipment management program. Thus, the Multi-Criterion Decision Making methods find naturally their place to solve such a problem. In this paper, we address to categorize medical equipments for maintenance strategies based on how crucial they are to improve significantly their reliability safety, and cost efficiency by applying a novel multi-granular linguistic 2-Tuple-ARAS method in the multi-expert environment.

The increasing demand for IoT devices in industries has generated a high level of cybersecurity threats, with botnets including Mozi exploiting poor passwords and unpatched vulnerabilities to target networked infrastructure. Peer-to-peer (P2P) topology of Mozi, employing Distributed Hash Tables (DHTs) for Command-and-Control (C2) communications, makes it resistant to takedown operations and capable of high-scale Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, data exfiltration, and remote command execution. Traditional one-class, machine learning techniques such as OneClass Support Vector Machine (OCSVM) and Local Outlier Factor (LOF) have been widely used for discovering malwarerelated anomalies. However, such techniques require high labelled training datasets, whose availability in dynamically changing environments of malwares proves challenging. In this work, an AutoRegressive Integrated Moving Average (ARIMA)-based mechanism for discovering time-series anomalies in IoT-infected devices with Mozi infection is proposed. In an experimental setup using a Raspberry Pi running Pi-hole, baseline profiles of CPU consumption, RAM usage, and network activity are first established under normal conditions. Next, a system is subjected to a simulation of infection with Mozi malware and monitored for deviation with ARIMA forecasting and Local Outlier Factor (LOF) for discovering anomalies. By comparing predicted values with actual values, effective intrusion detection for malware-related anomalies is attained, providing a real-time, adaptive mechanism for early intrusion detection. In conclusion, with its effectiveness in discovering stealthy behaviour of malwares, employing ARIMA for discovering time-series anomalies in IoTinfected devices proves effective, and its employment in IoT cybersecurity aids in providing real-time mechanism for discovering threats for system admins and security professionals. Generalizable Face Landmarking Guided by Conditional Face Warping

As a significant step for human face modeling, editing, and generation, face landmarking aims at extracting facial keypoints from images. A generalizable face landmarker is required in practice because real-world facial images, e.g., the avatars in animations and games, are often stylized in various ways. However, achieving generalizable face landmarking is challenging due to the diversity of facial styles and the scarcity of labeled stylized faces. In this study, we propose a simple but effective paradigm to learn a generalizable face landmarker based on labeled real human faces and unlabeled stylized faces. Our method learns the face landmarker as the key module of a conditional face warper. Given a pair of real and stylized facial images, the conditional face warper predicts a warping field from the real face to the stylized one, in which the face landmarker predicts the ending points of the warping field and provides us with high-quality pseudo landmarks for the corresponding stylized facial images. Applying an alternating optimization strategy, we learn the face landmarker to minimize i) the discrepancy between the stylized faces and the warped real ones and ii) the prediction errors of both real and pseudo landmarks. Experiments on various datasets show that our method outperforms existing state-of-the-art domain adaptation methods in face landmarking tasks, leading to a face landmarker with better generalizability. The use of the Hilbert transform for the analysis of periodically non-stationary random signals (PNRSs), whose carrier harmonics are modulated by jointly stationary high-frequency random processes is discussed. A representation of the signal in the form of a superposition of high-frequency components is obtained and it is shown that these components are jointly periodically non-stationary random processes. The properties of the band-pass filtered signals are examined, and it is shown that band-pass filtering can reduce both the number of signal variance cyclic harmonics and their amplitudes. We show that it is possible to extract the quadratures of narrow-band high-frequency modulation processes using the Hilbert transform. © 2023 IEEE.

The global spread of the COVID-19 virus has become one of the greatest challenges that humanity has faced in recent years. The unprecedented circumstances of forced isolation and uncertainty that it has imposed on us continue to impact our mental well-being, whether or not we have been directly affected by the virus. Over a period of nearly three years (2017-2020), data was collected from multiple administrations of the Rorschach test, one of the most renowned and extensively studied psychological tests. This study involved the clustering of data, collected through the RAP3 software, to analyze the distinctive trends in data recorded before and after the pandemic. This was achieved through the implementation of the well-established machine learning algorithm, Expectation-Maximization. The proposed solution effectively identifies the key variables that significantly influence the subject's score and provides a reliable solution. Additionally, the solution offers an intuitive visualization that can assist psychologists in accurately interpreting shifts in trends and response distributions within a large amount of data in the two periods. © 2022 Copyright for this paper by its authors. The ever-growing interest in multi-criteria decision-making methods requires research that would compare them with each other as the decision-makers would need help choosing the appropriate method. It is important to highlight the differences between them, because using different methods may result in discrepancies in the obtained rankings. Additionally, it is worthwhile for the research to take into account the problems whose solution is extremely valuable. To this end, we present a comparison of five multi-criteria decision-making methods: TOPSIS, VIKOR, COMET, SPOTIS, and MARCOS in the supplier selection problem. The conducted research showed significant differences in the evaluation of the preferences of the alternatives and some discrepancies in the obtained rankings. © 2022 The Authors. Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) methods enable a comprehensive analysis of decision options to identify the most preferred values. However, the abundance of these techniques, using different transformations in the calculations, can cause a divergence of results. However, the resulting rankings should be as consistent and reliable as possible. In this paper, we used the TOPSIS, COPRAS, SPOTIS, and COMET methods to examine the consistency of their results in the practical problem of laptop evaluation. The rankings were then compared with the reference ranking. The research showed that among the methods listed, the COPRAS method's results differed the most from the others. In turn, this technique ensured a ranking in line with the reference ranking. Based on the results, it can be established that the methods used are characterized by high consistency of results. © 2022 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of technology-based interventions on academic performance. To achieve this purpose a systematic review was conducted. Within the scope of this study EBSCO, Springer, ProQuest, science Direct, Wiley Online Library, Taylor and Francis Online, databases were scanned, and 18 studies were included in the review. Our results show that the iPad is the most preferred digital device for enhancing math and reading skills and significant results can be seen when used. Similar positive effects were observed with other technological devices, reinforcing the effectiveness of technology as a tool for supporting academic performance. This evidence underscores the value of incorporating digital devices in educational strategies, particularly for improving key academic skills.
