Network Traffic Matrix Estimation Based on Link Loads Sampling

Traffic Matrix (TM) represents traffic between all Origin-Destination (OD) node pairs in a network, playing a crucial role in network management. While the methods for TM acquisition typically require scaling each link load in a network, measurement costs arise drastically as the number of links grows exponentially with the number of nodes. To address this issue while achieving TM with acceptable accuracy aligned with various network management requirements, the paper proposes two novel methods. The first is the ME-TMEIM (TM Estimation with Incomplete Measurement Based on Maximum Entropy) method, an efficient approach with yet acceptable accuracy. The second is the D-TMEIM (Dynamic TMEIM) method. Compared to the ME-TMEIM method, the D-TMEIM method trades the TM's acquisition accuracy for efficiency. It adds temporal constraints on network traffic to improve the precision of the obtained missing link loads, based on which the TM is generated using the CS-OMP (Compressed Sensing-Orthogonal Matching Pursuit) algorithm. Experimental results using publicly available Abilene and GÉANT networks demonstrate that the proposed methods not only enhance TM acquisition efficiency but also maintain nearly the same accuracy as the known methods that acquire TM through exhaustive links measurement. © 2013 IEEE.

Stress is a state of mental or emotional strain due to adversative or challenging situations. A human may undergo bad life experiences or events, and it is a significant issue to be dealt in today's society. It comes as a result of family situations, health concerns, work environments and people's behavior among other things. It affects people of various ages, including children, teenagers, middle-aged people and senior citizens. It has serious consequences affecting human body and life. These problems can be addressed by detecting mental stress at an early stage. The main goal of the propounded system is to identify human stress using a pre-trained Mini-Xception model. Additional measures such as eye moments, mouth activity and head motion are employed for determining the level of human stress. FER2013 dataset is used and the system is tested for all kinds of emotions. Human stress level is experimented by capturing video using webcam. From the experimental outcomes, it is evident that the proposed system offers better performance in terms of Precision, Accuracy, Specificity and Sensitivity in contrast to traditional methods. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2025.

In the evolving landscape of supply chain management, the integration of radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology has marked a significant milestone. This development has led to the emergence of a new system in RFID-based supply chain management, which is intricately linked with the advances in the Internet of Things (IoT). RFID technology employs electromagnetic fields to identify and track tags on objects and revolutionizes the management and tracking of items in the supply chain. However, the public communication among RFID tags, RFID readers, and supply chain infrastructure predominantly escalates security and privacy challenges. Several authentication protocols have been proposed to overcome these challenges. However, the vulnerability of most proposed protocols to numerous security attacks renders them inefficient. Therefore, to address these crucial challenges, we devised an RFID-based authentication protocol for supply chain management systems. The incorporation of a physically unclonable function (PUF) into the protocol fortifies the system against physical tampering attacks. To validate the security and effectiveness of the devised protocol, both informal and formal security analysis are conducted. The formal security analysis is conducted using the widely used random oracle model. The informal security analysis reveals that the devised protocol provides enhanced and efficient security features. Furthermore, we perform a comparative analysis with related protocols, focusing on critical performance metrics like communication cost, computation cost, and overall security features. The results of the comparative analysis are promising, indicating a substantial 30.92% reduction in computational cost and a 23.98% reduction in communication cost in comparison to related protocols, thus highlighting the protocol’s superior performance and resource efficiency. © 2014 IEEE.

Embracing the latest technological strides holds immense promise for individuals, organizations, and governments. However, divergent perspectives exist on these advancements, particularly regarding safeguarding critical information, securing stored data platforms, and ensuring data accessibility. A pivotal challenge in the contemporary landscape is the escalating threat of digital terror ism, causing disruptions for individuals and institutions. This form of cybercrime, orchestrated by diverse entities like criminal organizations, skilled individuals, and digital activists, now poses a significant risk to public and national security. Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) have been developed to address this pressing issue. The study leverages the recently introduced UNSWNB dataset to evaluate the efficacy of the chosen approach. The SVM algorithm demonstrated a commendable accuracy of 83.29. The company demonstrated its ability to effectively counter cyber threats by showcasing its potential. Lithium （Li） deposition and nucleation at solid electrolyte interphase （SEI） is the main origin for the capacity decay in Li metal batteries （LMBs）.SEI conversion with enhanced electrochemical and mechanical properties is an effective approach to achieve uniform nucleation of Li+and stabilize the lithium metal ***,complex interfacial reaction mechanisms and interface compatibility issues hinder the development of SEI conversion strategies for stabilizing lithium metal ***,we presented the release of I3-in–NH2-modified metal–organic frameworks for a Li metal surface SEI phase conversion ***–NH2group in MOF pores induced the formation of I3-from I2,which was further spontaneously reacted with inactive Li2O transforming into high-performance LiI and ***,theoretical calculation provided deeply insight into the unique reconstructed interfacial formation and electrochemical mechanism of rich LiI and *** a result,the Li+deposition and nucleation were improved,facilitating the transport kinetics of Li+and inhibiting the growth of lithium *** assembled solid-state Li||LiFePO4full cells exhibited superior long-term stability of 800 cycles and high Coulombic efficiency （>99%）,Li||LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2pouch cell also displayed superior practical performance over 200 cycles at 2 C,high loading of 5 mg cm-2and safety *** innovative SEI design strategy promotes the development of high-performance solid-state Li metal batteries.

Machine Learning Research often involves the use of diverse libraries, modules, and pseudocodes for data processing, cleaning, filtering, pattern recognition, and computer intelligence. Quantization of Effort Required for the above cumulative processes is rarely discussed in the existing works and The time to reach the desired level of the model's functionality is essential to gauge the environment training for the model training and pre-deployment testing. In this study, we empirically defined the manual-cum-computational effort required for the model development in terms of 2-time factors: time-to-live (time until 1st code modification) and time-for-modification (time between 2 codebase changes) taken together in a mathematical model to compute Effort Factor(quantitative measure of determining effort needed to design ML algorithms). The study is novel in terms of how the effort required to create ML models is calculated with a particular focus on the manual effort direction. The results and the findings obtained can be used for determining the total time needed to synthesize ML models and frameworks in terms of code change cycles and implementation strategies marking a 25% performance increase in the current method above the Standard Pipeline. © 2025 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.

Recent advancements in Smart Assistants (SAs) as well as home automation have captured the attention of both researchers and consumers. Virtual Assistants (VAs) that are speech-enabled are commonly referred to as smart speakers. They offer a wide range of network-based services. In some cases, they seamlessly link to smart environments, introducing innovative and efficient user interfaces. Nevertheless, these devices present their own set of challenges and limitations. The distinctive features of this technology, particularly its hand-free operation handled by voice and implementation of voice-user interface create a unique landscape. Existing technology adoption models, however, fall short in offering a comprehensive explanation for the adoption of this innovative technology. To gain deeper insights into the motivation behind approving and using in-home voice assistants, this work shifts its focus towards examining voice interactions. Utilization of speech recognition for converting speech into text enables constructing an attractive personalized assistant. This development facilitates seamless tasks such as sending emails without manual typing, conducting Google searches without opening the browser, and accomplishing various daily activities including playing music or launching a preferred IDE, all with a single voice command. To assess its performance, the system is seamlessly integrated with home automation (open-source) environment and operated continuously for some days. Hybrid RMDL-CNN for speech recognition from unclear speech signal

ASR is an effectual approach, which converts human speech into computer actions or text format. It involves extracting and determining the noise feature, the audio model, and the language model. The extraction and determination of the noise feature is a crucial aspect of speech recognition, serving as both a process of information compression and signal deconvolution. ASR schemes are mostly employed in smart homes, smart appliances, and biometric schemes. Yet, traditional approaches offer very low performance because of a noisy environment. Moreover, local differences and accents negatively influence the ASR scheme execution during the conversion of the speech signals. This paper introduces a hybrid RMDL-CNN method to address these challenges. At first, the input of unclear speech is carried out by the dataset. Then, signal pre-processing is done by employing a Gaussian filter. After that, voice enhancement is accomplished by employing nonlinear spectral subtraction. Later, the speech word is segmented from the enhanced output based on the Attentional Encoder-Decoder approach and finally, the speech is recognized using the proposed RMDL-CNN. The RMDL-CNN method is devised by the combination of RMDL and CNN. Furthermore, the established RMDL-CNN is accessed for its efficiency based on several values of k-group value, as well as learning data. In addition, the introduced RMDL-CNN approach for speech recognition achieved better accuracy, PPV, as well as NPV of 0.909, 0.947, and 0.917 for dataset 1. Moreover, the RMDL-CNN has achieved the highest accuracy of 0.909, PPV of 0.926 and NPV of 0.888 for dataset 2. © The Author(s), under exclusive licence to Springer science+Business Media, LLC, part of Springer Nature 2025.

HViTML: Hybrid vision transformer with machine learning-based classification model for glaucomatous eye

Glaucoma is currently one of the most significant causes of permanent blindness. Fundus imaging is the most popular glaucoma screening method because of the compromises it has to make in terms of portability, size, and cost. In recent years, convolution neural networks (CNNs) have revolutionized computer vision. Convolution is a "local" CNN technique that is only applicable to a small region surrounding an image. Vision Transformers (ViT) use self-attention, which is a "global" activity since it collects information from the entire image. As a result, the ViT can successfully gather distant semantic relevance from an image. This study examined several optimizers, including Adamax, SGD, RMSprop, Adadelta, Adafactor, Nadam, and Adagrad. With 1750 Healthy and Glaucoma images in the IEEE fundus image dataset and 4800 healthy and glaucoma images in the LAG fundus image dataset, we trained and tested the ViT model on these datasets. Additionally, the datasets underwent image scaling, auto-rotation, and auto-contrast adjustment via adaptive equalization during preprocessing. The results demonstrated that preparing the provided dataset with various optimizers improved accuracy and other performance metrics. Additionally, according to the results, the Nadam Optimizer improved accuracy in the adaptive equalized preprocessing of the IEEE dataset by up to 97.8% and in the adaptive equalized preprocessing of the LAG dataset by up to 92%, both of which were followed by auto rotation and image resizing processes. In addition to integrating our vision transformer model with the shift tokenization model, we also combined ViT with a hybrid model that consisted of six different models, including SVM, Gaussian NB, Bernoulli NB, Decision Tree, KNN, and Random Forest, based on which optimizer was the most successful for each dataset. Empirical results show that the SVM Model worked well and improved accuracy by up to 93% with precision of up to 94% in the adaptive equalization preprocess

Kidney disease (KD) is a gradually increasing global health concern. It is a chronic illness linked to higher rates of morbidity and mortality, a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and numerous other illnesses, and expensive medical expenses. The machine learning (ML) models are applied for KD prediction with higher accuracy and precision. The KD dataset has uncertainty and vague information, so, we used the neutrosophic set (NS) to deal with vague and uncertainty information in the KD dataset. The KD dataset is converted into the N-KD dataset with three membership functions: truth, indeterminacy, and falsity. Three ML models are used in this study such as logistic regression (LR), support vector machine (SVM), and k-nearest neighbor (KNN). These ML models are applied to the N-KD dataset. The results show the LR has higher accuracy and precision on the N-KD dataset than the original KD dataset. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.
