Deep Learning Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping With Reduced Training Time Based on Local Field Transformation

A quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) approach using single-orientation imaging data is proposed in this study. The proposed method generates local field maps at five predefined orientations via deep learning from single-orientation local field maps, followed by physical dipole inversion using the analytical Calculation of Susceptibility through Multiple Orientation Sampling (COSMOS) algorithm. We termed the method pseudo COSMOS (pCOSMOS). By isolating the physical dipole inversion process from deep learning, training of the neural network model becomes greatly accelerated. Brain imaging data from 10 healthy subjects (7 training and 3 testing) acquired at 3T with five different orientations relative to the main magnetic field were included to evaluate the reconstruction quality. Results compared against two iterative (Morphology Enabled Dipole Inversion or MEDI, and Structural Feature-based Collaborative Reconstruction or SFCR) and two deep learning QSM approaches (QSMnet and Learned Proximal Convolutional Neural Network or LPCNN) using COSMOS as the reference standard revealed that the susceptibility maps obtained from pCOSMOS yielded global quantitative performance comparable to QSMnet and LPCNN, while being prominently superior to MEDI and SFCR. Estimation errors in magnetic susceptibility were between 0.01 and 0.02 ppm voxel-wise, and 0.006 ± 0.004 ppm for five selected gray matter areas. Visual inspection further suggested better preserved tissue boundaries in pCOSMOS than QSMnet and LPCNN. Training time was reduced from 2 days for LPCNN and 12 hours for QSMnet to 3.2 hours for pCOSMOS. It is concluded that the proposed pCOSMOS method is an alternative deep learning QSM approach when computational efficiency is essential. © 2017 IEEE.

The traveling salesman problem (TSP) has been studied for many years. In particular, the multimodal optimization of the TSP is important for practical applications, because decision-makers can select the best candidate based on current conditions and requirements. In the Euclidean TSP, there are n points in R^d space with Euclidean distance between any two points, that is, d(x, y) =||x-y||_2. The goal is to find a tour of minimum length visiting each point. In this article, we only focus on the case that d=2. Recently, in order to efficiently handle the multimodal optimization of the TSP, some methods have been developed to deal with it. Nevertheless, these methods usually perform poorly for large-scale cases. In this article, we propose a niching regression adaptive memetic algorithm (MA) to handle the multimodal optimization of the Euclidean TSP. We use the MA as the baseline algorithm and incorporate the neighborhood strategy to maintain the population diversity. In addition, we design a novel regression partition initialization and adaptive parameter control to enhance our algorithm, and propose the concept of the redundant individual to improve the search efficiency. To validate the performance of the proposed algorithm, we comprehensively conduct experiments on the multimodal optimization of TSP benchmark and the well-known TSPLIB library. The experimental results reveal that the proposed method outperforms other methods, especially for large-scale cases. © 1997-2012 IEEE.

Over the past few years, blockchain technology has gained significant attention. This surge in popularity can be attributed to the emergence of cryptocurrencies and the development of smart contracts. Cryptocurrency is a digital currency that eliminates the problem of double spending. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Stellar, Zcash, Maker, Aave, etc. become popular and are preferred for money transfers. Smart contracts are the next popular technology on the blockchain after cryptocurrency. It can be considered a piece of code that can execute automatically when the predefined conditions are fulfilled. Researchers believe that the potential of blockchain with smart contracts is only in its initial stages and that its true potential has yet to be fully discovered. Hence, an extensive bibliometric analysis is conducted to understand blockchain trends for smart contracts and to give future directions in this field. For this analysis, various steps are followed, starting with formulating the research question, defining the scope of our research, extracting and analyzing data, answering the research question, and finally, drawing a conclusion. Due to a shortage of funding and other market challenges, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) face difficulties in adopting new technologies. Numerous technological obstacles negatively impact the long-term commercial achievement of SMEs. The deployment of Industry 4.0hopes to resolve these technological challenges. A sustainable city is a complex structure where economic, societal, and ecological components interact and compete. There is a scarcity of l methodologies for measuring interactions in this complex structure. Industry 4.0 aims to obtain higher performance effectiveness, profitability, and automation. The main goal is to develop a reliable method of evaluating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopting Industry 4.0 technologies, particularly concerning smart city applications. This paper aims to determine the influence of Industry 4.0 in fostering economic efficiency and sustainability amongst these SMEs. The study introduces a multi-criteria decision-making (SC-MCDM) system designed to test an SME’s achievement of their targeted sustainable developmental goals. A technique for computing the interaction between various standards, i.e., (static interactions and dynamical pattern resemblance), as well as the weightage of variables of every indicator generated by the connection, is included within SC-MCDM. Furthermore, applying the suggested technique is validated by assessing the sustainable development goals of twelve Chinese cities within the Triple Bottom Line (TBL) paradigm. From a geographic-temporal viewpoint, spatial variations in city sustainability reveal regional sustainable inequalities. Indicator scores suggest that the most significant factors for most communities are the lack of research spending, falling financing in stationary assets, shortage of financial development, and inadequate shared transit. Optimizing therapy and rehabilitation for Parkinson's disease (PD) requires early identification and precise evaluation of the illness's course. However, there is disagreement about the best way to use gait analysis to categorize the severity of motor symptoms and identify early-stage Parkinson's disease. The precision of machine learning (ML) models in identifying early and intermediate stages of Parkinson's disease was assessed in this study. Six ML models are used in this study for the prediction of PD. Different metrics are used to evaluate ML models such as accuracy, precision, recall, f1-score, and AUC score. Then we propose a multi-criteria decision-making methodology (MCDM) to evaluate the ML models and select the best one. Two MCDM methods are used such as CRITIC method to compute the criteria weights and the TOPSIS method to rank the alternatives. These methods are used under the bipolar neutrosophic sets (BNSs) to deal with uncertainty information. The results show the support vector machine is the best ML model for the prediction of PD. © 2025, University of New Mexico. All rights reserved.

Pathogenicity Prediction of Single Amino Acid Variants With Machine Learning Model Based on Protein Structural Energies

The most popular tools for predicting pathogenicity of single amino acid variants (SAVs) were developed based on sequence-based techniques. SAVs may change protein structure and function. In the context of van der Waals force and disulfide bridge calculations, no method directly predicts the impact of mutations on the energies of the protein structure. Here, we combined machine learning methods and energy scores of protein structures calculated by Rosetta Energy Function 2015 to predict SAV pathogenicity. The accuracy level of our model (0.76) is higher than that of six prediction tools. Further analyses revealed that the differential reference energies, attractive energies, and solvation of polar atoms between wildtype and mutant side-chains played essential roles in distinguishing benign from pathogenic variants. These features indicated the physicochemical properties of amino acids, which were observed in 3D structures instead of sequences. We added 16 features to Rhapsody (the prediction tool we used for our data set) and consequently improved its performance. The results indicated that these energy scores were more appropriate and more detailed representations of the pathogenicity of SAVs. © 2004-2012 IEEE.
